Anyone else browse Rightmove for fun after moving house? If so, what do you think of this house and its “garden”?

We moved house recently, so I have no intention of doing it again for a long time, if ever. However, I am now addicted to wandering around Rightmove just for entertainment purposes, which is probably a bit sad! Anyway, I have just seen this house for sale and wondered what Mumsnetters would think of it…

Looks like the site may once held something like a transport cafe, which would make sense on Watling Street, one of the most ancient roads in these isles.

You'd need grippy socks and sunglasses.

The lack of plants to me means they are souless

itsgettingweird · 29/06/2026 16:23

It’s very gold with a matching silver garden!

WildClover · 29/06/2026 16:26

Looks like a poltergeist has been at the cushions.

MotherOfSoManyCats · 29/06/2026 16:32

Do the families living in the "garden" come with it?

cornflakecrunchie · 29/06/2026 16:48

Not for me.

Babymamamama · 29/06/2026 16:52

Is it me or is the garden just one massive kitty litter? And goodness the magnolia and gold. It’s giving 2001 style wise to me.

BeMintFatball · 29/06/2026 17:00

Clearly owned by people who don’t like gardening 😂

Hate the gold taps and bathroom basin.

I actually don’t mind the floors. Makes a change from grey carpet. My daughter would be buying inline skates and would be practicing her skills without the need to track to the ice rink

Diamondwindow · 29/06/2026 17:06

Wouldn’t want to be there during a heatwave. Sizzled

TheDogsMother · 29/06/2026 17:06

I was thinking it didn’t have redeeming feature but actually, plenty of off road parking !

It’s not to my taste at all, but then I’m not in the business of poking fun at other people or their homes.
Well-done you for making the snobs’ day.

Oh behave 🤣

salcombebabe · 29/06/2026 17:16

It's hideous inside and out! And it's position is awful being on such a busy road

mondaytosunday · 29/06/2026 17:21

Even from the outside I thought ‘nope’!

Another Rightmove regular here, and I've gone down the rabbit hole with this one. (In fairness, I do that on a weekly basis.Grin)

I was intrigued by there being two conservatories at that back, it made me think it had been two houses originally , and indeed it had - all the way up to Oct-24. Stepping through past pictures, my guess would be the left-hand house was bought in 2018 (when the big wall and gates were built) and when the right-hand house came up (after Oct-24) they bought that too and remodelled them into one. All the land at the back looks to me to belong to the left-hand, so that could all date from 2018.

Which leads me to the thought - they've put a hell of a lot of work and money into this property in just the last two years, tailored it to their personal lifestyle/taste - and now they're selling? After all that work? That's quite sad to me.

I thought something similar.
There were so many things to think though- like why bother with picture 38? What does it add to show the same as picture 39 but before the painting was finished?
What was outside when the took the photos, that all the blinds needed to be down?
Why does the loo look so lonely in that bathroom- something about the picture makes it look like it’s hiding.
How do they live there? It’s immaculate and completely dressed- how does it work when you want to live there, given the cushions and branded bags?

Lastly, is there a site where Travellers can market their homes, or a code word so you know how to search for them on Rightmove? That’s been very specifically developed, and I’m wondering how you spread the word to get views from the right people.

I think it's someone's much loved family home and while it's not to my taste in its current form, the thought of my family home being shared on MN for the shits and giggles when a change of decor would sort it is horrible.

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 29/06/2026 17:33

Who the fuck staged those photos?!

JulietteHasAGun · 29/06/2026 17:33

Whyohwhy1973 · 29/06/2026 14:08

I would have thought that it's fairly obviously a house belonging to gypsies.

I’m amazed there’s not less gravel and more tarmac!

I loved the oh so casually displayed Fortnum and Mason hamper and shopping bags! “These? I totally forgot they were there!”

Don’t forget the Chanel bags upstairs!

MrsSchadenfreude · 29/06/2026 17:35

Owned by an Asian family.

Good gracious, my eyes.

Wrong
Goodness Gracious Me!

lordbaddingham · 29/06/2026 17:37

The Romans would probably have liked it

StarCourt · 29/06/2026 17:38

Interior - hate but like the space
Exterior - yep def for me as I hate grass

EverythingElseIsTaken · 29/06/2026 17:40

You can’t buy good taste……

Weeellokthen · 29/06/2026 17:40

Feel a bit sad that owners had no personality 😂

AMurderofMurderingCrows · 29/06/2026 17:41

It's very much in the travellers style which is usually a lot of creams and gold. It will also be immaculately cleaned.
