Anyone else browse Rightmove for fun after moving house? If so, what do you think of this house and its “garden”?

We moved house recently, so I have no intention of doing it again for a long time, if ever. However, I am now addicted to wandering around Rightmove just for entertainment purposes, which is probably a bit sad! Anyway, I have just seen this house for sale and wondered what Mumsnetters would think of it…

Is it a traveller site or something?

BotterMon · 29/06/2026 17:44

Built by and for the travelling community. Soulless.

Wrong
Goodness Gracious Me!

Come again?

There was a series with British Indian characters.
I think the house would be attractive to people from say, Amritsar. The gold would appeal. Plenty of room in the statics to keep the mother in law. Think bossy mother in Marigold Hotel.

I can’t find anything nice to say about this house or ‘garden’ 😂
I am a bit fascinated by the crazy cushion sculptures on the beds.

And the designer bags casually front and centre in the pictures.

Hideous house.

Ah, never saw the show, will have to check it out!

@MajorFortuna , best you prepare yourself with a phrase from TPTV. "Vocabulary reflects attitudes that were prevalent at the time".

This is clearly making a mock of travellers. You know, the ones being told to buy land and houses and settle? Can't win, can they. It at least looks immaculately clean, like eat your dinner off the floor clean, which would encourage me as a buyer.

Owned by an Asian family.

I’d say it’s almost certainly owned by a member of the travelling community for sure. I follow a couple on instagram and it’s a very distinct style. I guess the caravans give it away too. Not to my taste but bet it’s cleaner than most on rightmove.

Ketzele · 29/06/2026 20:21

Well spotted, OP!

I would be arse over tit on those floors at least five times a day.

flagpolesitta · 29/06/2026 20:23

The sofas seem to have plastic wrapping on them

Common in the traveller community. Used to see it on “my big fat gypsy wedding” all the time.

Immaculate because the girls are removed from education and schooled in to a life of domestic service and cleaning.

I wonder whether they actually sit on them, can’t be nice in a heatwave 🥵

Look up LE10 3ED on Google Maps, back in 2017 it looked like it had a lovely green garden

PrizedPickledPopcorn · 29/06/2026 21:53

I still don’t understand how you live in it. It just doesn’t seem practical. That party cabin is ace, and looks like a space designed for using. The other rooms look like they are stage sets. Do you deconstruct the cushion construction before bed, then rebuild it? If you have friends over, do you throw them on the floor and lounge on the bed?

For me, the taste is neither here nor there (I like gold and cream, though I prefer wooden furniture for contrast). I just don’t understand how you live there.

Jamjam12 · 29/06/2026 21:58

Can a million percent tell the demographic of people as soon as you click the link. However it has massive renovation potential if you can see past ALOT

Tonissister · 29/06/2026 13:57

Dubai-wannabe vibes.

Not to my taste at all.

That's what I thought too.

Whats in the large containers I wonder? Body parts?

fouleetmites · 29/06/2026 22:03

Was literally going to say it reminds me of the Fury’s Morecambe home - especially with the weird garden - and that was before I looked at the detailed ‘garden’ photos! Then it appears it may be a similar type of family that reside there 🤔

I don't for one second think that is right and have said so on here, but neither is pointing and laughing at the (harmless) choices a group of people favour in interior design.

TallulahBetty · 30/06/2026 10:51

Hideous. Sterile. Soulless. Sorry OP but you did ask. Good luck selling it

SirChenjins · 29/06/2026 17:30

I think it's someone's much loved family home and while it's not to my taste in its current form, the thought of my family home being shared on MN for the shits and giggles when a change of decor would sort it is horrible.

I agree. And to posters saying “ don’t open the thread then” there’s nothing wrong with looking at something.. it’s the bitchy comments and inappropriate use of “ gypsies” that’s distasteful

omghereistrouble · 30/06/2026 11:58

Cold marble floors which are a death trap being so shiny and slippery. The whole place looks a show home cold and impersonal

PembrokeshireDangler · 30/06/2026 17:41

Gravel makes me want to scream and run in the opposite direction, so this house is my idea of hell. Also, proximity to Nuneaton (brr).
