Does this flooring look ridiculous?

Had new chevron flooring laid today and it doesn’t look right to me. I think the chevrons don’t marry up and it just looks a bit odd. Is it because of the size of the room?

Any advice would be appreciated

I mean I’ve got herringbone oak parquet floor that was laid in 1935.

In your opinion. So unhelpful. I think the floor will look lovely once the installation issue is ironed out. Have you been at the booze or are you always so spiteful?

Everything goes in and out of fashion. Even what you consider classic will be fashionable or unfashionable at different times. If the op likes it that is all that matters.

@Mirabai The most elegant apartment I have ever lived or set foot in - belle epoque, piano nobile, huge, elegant and in a European capital - had wall to wall original herringbone parquet floor throughout.

My apartment has original oak herringbone parquet, and at 120 years old still looks great.
Creaks like a bastard though.

I can't believe your fitter didn't notice anything wrong! Who would look at the finished floor and think 'yeah, done a good job with that' !!! It's giving me a migraine. You must be gutted OP.

At least it's rectifiable ,super annoying and disappointing but fixable. Show him the photo on here that a previous poster highlighted the mislaid ones.

It looks awful to me. Have you paid in full? Hope not! The money due is your carrot to get this fixed. Do not pay the balance until its corrected

No, haven’t paid for the works he’s carrying out for me (which is a lot of money!). Very helpful of @fivechairs to highlight the pieces that have been laid the wrong way. Unfortunately this is only half of the room, I’m yet to take a pic of the other half of the room. How did you highlight it like this please?

It's been laid wrong. For a chevron floor to look right there shouldn't be any weird changes in direction. Were these rectangular LVT pieces? I've highlighted the angle direction in this copy - all red or all green would look "right" with correctly alternating pattern but you are correct it looks terrible like that.

What a nightmare op. Christ, I think I could have laid it better. I like the colour and style though. He won’t make that mistake again! 😳😂

This isn’t something anyone should get wrong. Especially one you’re paying.

Hopefully it's that click together laminate boards they can come up with no damage and relaid. I've pulled up my bedroom laminate which clicked together to screw down the subfloor when it got creaky. I wa careful labelled each piece and put it back down myself no damage. So fingers crossed for you.

I hate chevron flooring, but this is particularly bad due to the shoddy way it’s been laid.

Hopefully, it looks worse than it is and should be easy for the fitter to correct. If the left two highlighted areas are swapped and the right two are swapped you're nearly there.
