Just saw a really interesting 1960s house

I know many people go for period properties but I do really like some 1960s houses. This one, the interior hasn't been touched since then and it has a very "mid-century modern" feel to it.

It has 3/4 acre garden and is £450k in Knottingley, W Yorks

(no connection with the property - just saw it online)

Check out this 4 bedroom detached house for sale on Rightmove

it's FabULous

FretfulPorpentine · 30/07/2024 13:56

That yellow kitchen! 😍😍

BearsloveXmas · 30/07/2024 13:57

Love it!

Carebearsonmybed · 30/07/2024 13:59

That is cool and quirky.

But some of it feels bought rather than authentic.

Enoughwiththisshit · 30/07/2024 13:59

Absolutely LOVE it.

KievLoverTwo · 30/07/2024 14:05

Did anyone else see the 'pure butter' dish full of oranges and get irrationally angry?

Or the bedside lights, only one of which can illuminate a bed?

DETAILS, PEOPLE!

It's very cool though.

sugarbyebye · 30/07/2024 14:09

Love the house. If it was more rural I'd buy it.

sweetpickle2 · 30/07/2024 14:09

This is my dream house!

Glitterbiscuits · 30/07/2024 14:16

I grew up with that sideboard and dining set.
It just screams old lady to me.
I don't understand how it's back in fashion

It's a great find OP but I think it looks like a council maisonette block from the outside

NashvilleQueen · 30/07/2024 14:17

Gosh what a find. It's fantastic.

Wellieswithsocks · 30/07/2024 14:20

i recognise this one - it’s been featured by Wowhaus before

https://www.wowhaus.co.uk/2024/07/25/1960s-fred-taylor-modern-house-in-knottingley-west-yorkshire/

personally I think it’s a bargain

TheBizzies · 30/07/2024 14:22

I like it too! It has a good feel about it!

I really don't understand, I don't think they're claiming all contents are original? You have to buy things to have them.

Twiglets1 · 30/07/2024 14:44

I love it

"Or the bedside lights, only one of which can illuminate a bed?"

It looks as though that room may have been originally designed for twin beds? But now there's only bed in the room.

Wouldn't change a thing

Izzynohopanda · 30/07/2024 15:07

Love that kitchen.

Also, if that’s Ducal furniture, then that’s highly sought after at the moment.

Izzynohopanda · 30/07/2024 15:09

From picture 25, guessing the owner is an architect.
(sorry, just read article above)

KreedKafer · 30/07/2024 15:13

I absolutely adore this house. My nan's house, although a lot smaller, was a bit like this right up until she moved in sheltered accommodation, although unlike this place, everything in hers was encrusted with a layer of nicotine deposits from her 40-a-day habit.

IKnowAristotle · 30/07/2024 15:13

Gorgeous

SweetBabe · 30/07/2024 15:18

Did it used to be flats?

CutthroatDruTheViolent · 30/07/2024 15:22

I love it. I don't know why those types of houses - both the exterior and interior - seem to evoke calm? Maybe it's because they were all full of retired people where I grew up Grin

SkaneTos · 30/07/2024 15:24

What a beautiful house! I really like the yellow kitchen.

PuppiesProzacProsecco · 30/07/2024 15:30

It's gorgeous but am I the only one who thinks it's probably damp thanks to single glazing, a flat roof and all that wooden fascia?

80smonster · 30/07/2024 15:30

Absolutely love this. It’s in move-in condition.

What a far cry from the barrage of soulless newbuilds that get posted on MN with ‘why can’t I sell this house’. The answer to which is almost invariably because it’s a) overpriced and b) pig ugly.
