So sorry to hear that. So frustrating

Hopefully you have some luck this week. It does sometimes seem to go from nothing to give us a completion date quite quickly.

Do you know what the missing pieces are?

I'm hoping my solicitor gets the agreed plan from the other solicitor tomorrow. Then I can shovel a large amount of money into their bank account and exchange can happen.

DH saw the house next to us being moved into yesterday. Can't say I'm not envious as we'd have been decorating this weekend if it wasn't for slack twats delays. Though their house isn't showing as registered, so they must've found a way round the first registration issue (or their solicitor isn't as thorough as mine 🤷‍♀️).

Happy Sunday everyone. No real move for us, the new mortgage contract for the buyer is being drawn up (due to the decrease in price). We are hoping as it is just an amendment it won’t take long then HOPEFULLY by the end of the week we’ll have some dates. We were talking last night and when DP bought the house we currently
live in (he owned it when we met) he put the offer in on the 3rd January and was in the house by the end of Feb. We’re now almost 5 months down the line from accepting the offer from the buyer. WHAT is taking so long. I’m back to the ‘it’ll never happen’ mindset. Maybe it’s the Sunday blues?

Lets hope for a positive week for everyone with lots of movement 🤞🏻

MillTree · 19/11/2023 20:40

Hey @NoWordForFluffy, it sounds like we will both have some good news tomorrow then!

What's holding it up? Nothing at this point. The last thing was sorted late Friday. The last I heard from our solicitor was her asking what completion date everyone wanted. She said she'd contact other solicitors on the chain. But that was around 5pm. So hopefully... good news is coming our way tomorrow.

This move is such a huge thing for us. It marks a new chapter, closer to family, and hopefully an easier time. Is it silly that I have been emotional all weekend? Just exhausted and ready to finally have some resolution? I can't stand feeling unsettled.

EmilyMay89 · 19/11/2023 20:41

Hoping we can agree completion date tomorrow. Would really make me feel way less stressed. Spent the weekend doing a lot of sorting and a few trips to the tip. Properly sorted out the loft which felt good. Hope everyone gets good news this week!

MillTree · 19/11/2023 20:45

Hey @MercyNursey Nine months and counting over here! I feel your pain. I really am at my wits end. I am just existing at this point! I am trying to continue life as normal. Trying to stay positive. But this year has felt like such a drag! Sunday night blues feeling heavy tonight, haha! Hope you're ok. And good luck this week!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2023 20:47

We sorted the shed yesterday. It felt good to get it done, actually. And I've been doing Christmas baking to freeze, so I don't have to do much once we're in the house.

I also managed to do a cursory clean of the kitchen and bathroom, plus some vacuuming. I feel less frozen now we seemingly have the last jigsaw piece in place.

I'll ring my solicitor tomorrow lunchtime if I've not heard (though I'd hope she's chasing from first thing!).

We've decided to just sod the extra money and just complete on 8 Dec so we can decorate that weekend, still moving in on 15 Dec. It's going to be way less stressful that way. We'll have a full week to get stuff done, like curtain rails, blinds etc, rather than rushing like nutters.

Amazing! The loft we are dreading! We are unwisely waiting for exchange to happen before we do any further packing! That'll give us less than 10 days to get sorted. Eeek!

NoWordForFluffy · 19/11/2023 20:50

Oh, DH did our loft the other week. It's been a good excuse to clear so much hoarded crap. Amazing what you gather over 9 years!

Good luck everyone! We have signed the contracts in readiness for exchange and will be returning by hand tomorrow.
I believe there are still some enquiries to be answered and the flipping management company for the house we live in at the moment missed our payment to send off for the management pack to sell our house, so our buyers solicitor is still waiting this. Really annoying as we paid for it a few weeks ago and it should have only taken 3-4 days to be sent through. They have said they will get it sent by close of play Monday, so will be chasing to ensure this is done.

We did sort through the garage this weekend though and this felt good! I know there are still a lot of cupboards & drawers with junk lingering. It’s finding the time to sort through them with a baby who tries to climb on & in everything! It is nice to think the new house will be clutter free (well I hope!).

We are paying for the luxury of our belongings being packed when we move, but I want to make sure we are only taking things with us we want & need!

HopefulSeller · 19/11/2023 21:42

Yes that Sunday night feeling… what kind of week will all have?

I’m hoping for all of you that it’s a good week with swift emails answered straight away by competent solicitors on all sides. Ho ho.

I’ve been answering everything as quickly as I can, doing more than really can be expected my end. So now after the daft extra enquiries, which have been asked yet again by the buyers solicitor, I’m going to stand back for 1-2 days and let my own solicitor do some work for a change. Instead of just passing over daft enquiries!

loopyloo52 · 19/11/2023 22:04

I sent solicitor and estate agent a really strong email on Friday saying I need to exchange by month end or else. My ex wants me out asap. He's putting so much pressure on me to push this sale forwards quickly. I sent the signed contract back last week SECOND class!!! Wtf was I thinking. My solicitor is pretty much there just waiting on the last of the enquiries to be dealt with for my seller (who is selling two houses). I purchased some appliances today I'm Black Friday sales. Hope I've not tempted fate altho currys assured me I could get a full refund if anything falls through. Wishing everyone LOTS of luck this week.

Let's GO!!!!

sweetpickle23 · 20/11/2023 09:02

Keeping fingers crossed for everyone getting over the line this week!

We have our buyers doing their level 2 survey today- this is the biggest unknown for us, as they are very nervy FTBs and we know our flat isn't perfect (the bits inside that we control are fine, but the bits outside on the main building that are out of our control are unknown!) Hopefully if it does scare them off it'll do it quickly so we can find someone else asap. Just don't want to lose our house!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2023 09:03

What time is it socially acceptable to ring my solicitor to chase her chasing the vendor's sols?! #askingforafriend

Good luck with the buyer's survey, @sweetpickle23

OP posts:
EmilyMay89 · 20/11/2023 09:11

@sweetpickle23 hopefully the survey will be ok! I was so glad when our buyer didn't do one. Victorian terrace so would have come up with all sorts!!

@NoWordForFluffy I would just do it!

sweetpickle23 · 20/11/2023 09:15

Oh how I wish ours weren't @EmilyMay89! We don't have anything horrible to hide, I just know how they are- they always look horrendous, and our buyers have already asked a lot of very specific questions which lead me to think they won't be too accepting. But we'll see!

Definitely just do it @NoWordForFluffy

EmilyMay89 · 20/11/2023 10:03

Solicitor confirmed everything is ready, all other solicitors have. I've put a date out there for completion and my solicitor is talking to the chain today to get it agreed!! I'm so excited

sweetpickle23 · 20/11/2023 10:04

Woooo @EmilyMay89 well done!

Surveyor has been and gone- it's a small flat, he was done in about half an hour. Asked a lot of questions about stuff we don't have control over like the roof and external walls so feeling nervy, but what will be will be!

MillTree · 20/11/2023 10:56

Morning everyone! Give your solicitor a call @NoWordForFluffy – I know I would! That's exciting @EmilyMay89 – I hope it happens for you today.

We've just had a text from our solicitor this morning. Our buyer and seller have agreed to complete on the 28th. We're just waiting for our buyer's buyer to confirm! I can't quite believe it. But I'm like... Who the F**K is now holding this up. If I knew where they lived, I'd be banging down their door! 😂

Same here! I'm just waiting for bank details to send the deposit to! (I didn't have to ring either!)

Yeah, @NoWordForFluffy. And we are STILL waiting for someone on the chain to pull their FECKING fingers out. What is wrong with people? Seriously. I have been "on the ball" since day one, nearly 10 months ago.

NoWordForFluffy · 20/11/2023 11:50

I'm a prat. Forgot about the online portal, so had the deposit request through there. I've sent a fiver test payment, rest to follow once they've confirmed receipt!
