OP posts:

Hot tub, decking, Alexa, underfloor heating.

TeaAndStrumpets · 08/10/2023 12:43

Hot tap, waste disposal. Thinking of the latter, I wouldn't have a Saniflo either!

poetryandwine · 08/10/2023 12:46

Surely Astro Turf and Alexa are not particularly high value items?

I would not have a traditional Aga, as they are wasteful what with the ovens and cooktops always remaining on. Nor a wood stove, a hot tub or a swimming pool as a matter of personal preference.

To my own surprise I have come to realise that certain smart appliances are very useful.

Butterkist8 · 08/10/2023 12:50

Im with you @FartNRoses

No photos in our house either. Paintings, sketches and Lino cuts on our walls.
Photos are a bit creepy if I'm honest.

I'm with others re Agas. They're a right pain.

DoubleHelix79 · 08/10/2023 12:50

Marble. Cold, uninviting and looks like it should be in a footballer's McMansion.

I'm having a swimming pool but it is having a fence around it like they do in Australia.

It's also going to have a movable floor so it can be a paddling pool.

I don't want open plan.

I used to live in the Middle East where many families had swimming pools. I've heard of kids drowning in indoor pools when someone, usually an older kid or teen, left the door unlocked. I just hate any bed of water whether it's a pool, a pond or a river that kids can access from the garden.

User0000009 · 08/10/2023 12:55

En suite. Who wants to lay in bed with the waft of a toilet next to them
Hot tub: smacks of swingers
A dog
Dishwasher
A cleaner
Loo brush: horrific

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 08/10/2023 12:56

Smart anything
Giant tv
Kitchen island
UPVC windows
Dogs

CrapBucket · 08/10/2023 12:58

Wood burning stove or any kind of heating that requires more effort than setting a program and forgetting about it.

User0000009 · 08/10/2023 13:02

Vertical blinds remind me of the drs surgery. Just no

IncomingTraffic · 08/10/2023 13:10

Vertical blinds shout 1980s bank branch to me.

glitterfinder · 08/10/2023 13:16

Most forms of 'smart' house stuff where if the electricity or internet go, it all goes haywire.
Floor to ceiling windows if people can see in.
Cellar to be trapped in horror-film style.
Any appliance that won't stop beeping until it's attended to.
Litter tray.
Marble staircase- deathtrap.
The kind of designer kitchen that is all pointy edges at hip height.
Doors (could be replaced) that aren't fire safety doors so you'd need a key to leave in an emergency.
Letterbox. Very intrusive.

Desecratedcoconut · 08/10/2023 13:24

How do homes with indoor pools keep on top of the humidity in the home. I can't imagine it being very relaxing if the answer is an industrial extractor fan going 24/7.

SuddenlyOld · 08/10/2023 13:29

Tumble dryer. Took my hubby 15 years to persuade me to get a dish washer. When he works away it doesn't get used.

And a hot tub. He wants one but that's one thing I will never agree to

TattyOne · 08/10/2023 13:34

Any of those ''smart appliances'', I'm more than able to make our bed, open the fridge door etc. all by myself!

We have no tv or tv license stuff at home by choice so I wouldn't want anything of that type there.

Home gyms. Home cinemas. Hot tubs. Jacuzzi.

penpep · 08/10/2023 13:51

A cat

spitefulandbadgrammar · 08/10/2023 13:52

Letterbox. Very intrusive.
This one has ended me.

Curtains. Very open-closey.
Floors. Very flat.
Walls. Very divisive.
Shower. Very wet.

CesareBorgia · 08/10/2023 00:50

Life-sized cardboard cut out of King Charles III.

Handy for darts practice, though

Well I think they are. 🤣 Fingers coming into your house and post making noise when it arrives, not when you choose to collect it. A post box on your gate much nicer!

SophiaElise · 08/10/2023 14:33

A cinema room
Games room/snooker table
Live-in staff
Bathtub in bedroom

The thread reminds me of my dad! He used to walk past peoples conservatories and even their satellite dishes saying ' look at the state of that, what an eye saw', when in reality he was just very jelous!

I do think some posters got confused and thought the op asked what is it you envy in other homes but could never have . 😂
