Toilet brush. Genuinely hate them.

Do you use a poop knife instead?

User174085934 · 08/10/2023 05:34

Home gym
Hot tub
A kitchen that looks like an operating theatre

Too much space, I've always found really large rooms and hallways uncomfortable, last time we moved we actually went smaller rather than bigger. When I see pictures of those beautiful big mansions the big empty spaces around leave me cold, especially lounges where the sofas are floating in the middle of the room.

I agree on hot tubs and things like Alexa.

Nanaof1 · 08/10/2023 06:18

I wouldn't want a hot tub, a pool or an outdoor kitchen. Even if I could pay others to care for them all, just no.

Sadza · 08/10/2023 06:36

Plastic plants
hot tub (people soup)
home cinema
giant tv on the wall
jacuzzi bath
pizza oven
fire pit

arintingly · 08/10/2023 06:43

Aga. Really hate using them.

EmpressaurusOfCats · 08/10/2023 06:48

A TV.

GrandHighPoohbah · 08/10/2023 06:51

Marble lions on either side of the front door.

Genuinely curious why people wouldn’t want an en-suite? We live in a silly American house with too many bathrooms but I can’t see any reason to object to a bathroom that’s very convenient in the night? Or is an en-suite extra small or something?

I don't pee in the night and the convenience if I wanted to is massively overtaken by the horror of DH loudly peeing at night near me. Down the hall is fine.

No ensuite for me. Also no hot tub. But I do like water, I'm having a swimming pond.

JustKeepSlimming · 08/10/2023 07:13

I'd never have anything like a hot tub, jacuzzi, swimming pool etc. Just hate hot tubs, and pools are wasteful of electricity unless you use them a lot (I guess if I could have one that was heated by renewable energy I'd be ok with a pool).

Games room with giant snooker table.

More than 2 spare bedrooms (preferably only 1)

Fake grass

Agree with the poster who said massive rooms - I'd rather have 2 smaller rooms than 1 massive one. Could live with one big room, but mostly they'd be fairly standard.

Photos everywhere. Don't mind the odd one here and there, but can't stand an entire gallery!

40andlovelife · 08/10/2023 07:14

I've never understood the MN hatred of hot tubs! I have one and yes it costs a bloody fortune to buy, get craned over the house and a lot of money in leccy to run but soooo worth it. The relaxation side of it is just unbeatable. The family nights with the kids under the stars with the bubbles and lights on are so lovely.

PurplePositivity · 08/10/2023 07:18

Coffee table

Mothership4two · 08/10/2023 07:26

Taxidermy and fur. I was taken to the hunting trophy room at Sandringham as a child and felt quite ill.

Fake grass

I don't mind large rooms, but not houses that are furnished for a large group (like about 20) when there is only a family living there.

Huge gardens. We once rented a house that basically had a park not a garden, attached was a stable and a paddock and then an orchard. Luckily we didn't have to do the gardening. It was too much and made me feel uncomfortable. At least in our garden when the children were little they could go out to play by themselves - I wouldn't have let them in the massive one.

SquashPenguin · 08/10/2023 07:26

Crushed diamanté/ mirrored furniture shit and a hot tub 🤮

Buildingthefuture · 08/10/2023 07:35

Karndean/Amtico or any other kind of over priced lino
Anything fur
Kitchen with no wall units and/or loads of open shelving. Hugely fashionable at the minute, but it gives me irrational amounts of rage and an immediate desire to put things away.

feralunderclass · 08/10/2023 07:36

Why are people mentioning toilet brushes and wall stickers? The point was about high value goods?

billysboy · 08/10/2023 07:37

Log burner and Aga or Rayburn all hateful things

ensuite , nothing worse than listening to someone trickle one out or worse

lighting system that over complicates a simple task and anything that has anything to do with wi fi

Twiglets1 · 08/10/2023 07:39

An Aga

Umph · 08/10/2023 07:41

A really massive house. I’d like a house bigger than the postage stamp we live in now but not so big it was a pain in the arse to keep on top of maintenance.

A garage full of cars. I’m fine with a van and a runaround. Give me bicycles any day.

IncomingTraffic · 08/10/2023 07:43

I’m also in the camp of not wanting STBXH in my home. Or any man.

In more material terms, a waste disposal unit on the sink.

A conservatory/orangery/whatever you want to call the greenhouse attached to the outside of the house.

Dymaxion · 08/10/2023 07:46

Astro turf. Indoor swimming pool. Any bath or shower with lots of lights, bubbles or too many different jets of water.

alwayscrashinginthesamecar1 · 08/10/2023 07:49

I have loads of the things mentionned on here, including a strip of fake grass (gasp!) beside my pool. I am in Oz though so its more eco friendly (and less muddy) than real grass which I would need to water all the bloody time to keep it green. I am also very fond of my massive tele (it is a Frame though so it looks like art when its on standby) and my corner sofa is super comfy! And my outdoor kitchen is fab and used all the time! I do draw the line at word art on the walls though.

McIntire · 08/10/2023 07:50

Conservatory
Flashy cars in the garage
Fake grass
Hot-tub or bath with jets

A cleaner
