I noticed the last one was full, so here we go!

Hello to the newcomers and welcome back to those who are still working their way through the joys of house buying/selling.

OP posts:
NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2023 10:27

I detest moving. It's way too stressful (partly as I'm a control freak and hate so many other people having control over the process!). So no, no intention to move again!

MillTree · 20/10/2023 10:41

Yeah, @NoWordForFluffy – I'm probably a control freak, too. I like to be organised. I get frustrated with the whole process, and can never understand why people take so long to get their asses in gear! Like, what do they do when they get all the forms? We've sorted and posted ours – and sent digital copies – all on the same day. And don't get me started on solicitors!!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2023 10:47

That's me too, @MillTree. JUST BLOODY GET ON WITH IT!!! 😬🤣

Haha, @NoWordForFluffy! We should've bought off each other. We'd have been in our new homes months ago!!

And yep @Housesellingnightmare! I keep sighing a lot. And saying things like:
"I can't wait to move..."
"God, I hate this old house..."
"I'm sick of feeling trapped..."
"Arghhhhh! Yelp! Not another spider!!?"
"There's no way I'm cleaning like I used to!"

I am driving my husband mad. Some days I'm super positive. Other days, like today, I'm just utterly fed up.

And you know what, I can't wait to live in a modern house. I'm leaving a lovely Edwardian property for a new-build. The buyers will love it here. It's a really nice home. Full of character. And it's not cold or damp. It's truly charming. But I am done with it. I want normal-sized windows, easier-to-clean floors, fewer ornate skirting boards or things to clean, and no damn spiders!!

NoWordForFluffy · 20/10/2023 11:19

Oh dear god. Our vendor's solicitors are dim. We amended the lease plan AND sent photos to show our version is correct. They've amended it, but it's still not right. 😡😡😡😡😡 How fucking hard?!

That would've been ideal, @MillTree, we'd have been sorted weeks ago!

elusivesale · 20/10/2023 14:09

Sneaks in with a 😁- exchanged today with completion next Friday!

Skipskipperroo · 20/10/2023 14:32

So after trying to sell and buy since March this year, losing a buyer and a seller in the process, it looks like we are almost ready ro exchange. I'm holding everything crossed as I just want to get it over with now! I'm paying for packers too as a treat to myself as I am just done!

MillTree · 20/10/2023 15:04

I am so envious @elusivesale, but equally very happy for you! Good luck with the move. You give the rest of us hope!

And you, too, @Skipskipperroo. I think we are another six weeks away from realising our dream. We have wanted to move for so long. Everyone is almost there. But no one can move until our seller is allowed to move into her new-build. So frustrating.

elsieandthepooch · 20/10/2023 15:58

We completed today. Just wanted to say good luck to everyone else still living the nightmare. Never again.

Jealous lol 😂

We’ve had just one viewing on our property in 2 weeks. Very disappointing.

It really is

I feel for you.

it might be age related but when I last moved, 14 years ago, it seemed easier. My late father did all the crockery etc though which helped a lot.

this time seemed horrendous. If you can pay for help, do.

NoWordForFluffy · 22/10/2023 18:11

We're doing lots of the peripheral stuff this week (garden / sheds etc) and it is all a pain in the arse, frankly.

We've nowhere sensible to put packed stuff, so it's just getting in the way!

We're focusing on clearing shite as much as possible. DH went into the loft and sorted in there. It's amazing what we'd kept, for god knows what reason! Then tomorrow is the garden. I bet he'll have a few tip runs once we've been ruthless! Thankfully we're not too far from it. 🤣

Hi all, just joining with the hope of a smooth ride. Went on the market at the start of June, accepted an offer in September but buyer pulled out a week later. New offer 3 weeks later, then we had to pull out of our purchase due to survey. Had an offer accepted on Saturday for a different house so now waiting to find out about their onward purchases... its a divorce sale so really hoping they both aren't buying because that would be really complicated. I've already started my new job in the new location with a long commute so desperate to get moved!

EmmaEmerald · 23/10/2023 17:19

Can I just say......AAAAAAARGH.
How can it possibly take so long for a chain free sale to be done?

NoWordForFluffy · 23/10/2023 18:54

The whole process is just painful, isn't it?

We've done loads of garden-sorting today as the weather was kind. Tomorrow is an indoors day as it's going to rain!

Not that there's much we can do inside overly.

The good news is that we've managed to get a 0.25% interest rate drop on our mortgage, as the rates have gone down slightly with our lender. It's only £20 a month, but better in our pocket than theirs!

EmmaEmerald · 23/10/2023 19:17

I think the earliest date we're looking at realistically is 30th November.

I haven't explained it on here but I'm not happy with where I live now so the temptation to pull out and go back is huge.

It's mostly the act of moving, the sunk costs, the fact I had a nervous breakdown in July and don't feel able to rent this one out...that is stopping me pulling out.

The EA has been saying that my solicitor hasn't kept me up to date properly but I disagree. The mortgage is not sorted if it's still being reviewed by the mortgage lender's solicitor.

So my solicitor hasn't said anything because there is no legal information to provide. When I ask "what's happening" and he says "nothing" he is correct.

I went back last week and spent about six hours sitting on a sleeping bag in my empty flat to see if I had a burning urge to move back, but it just all seems so hard and I'm still ill. I can see the things that annoyed me are still there but I partly moved to be close to mum and that's been a disaster.

People keep telling me to just make a decision and stick to it but I actually don't think that's right either.

There's a couple of other factors coming up this week that might influence my choice. Feel absolutely ragey and restless.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/10/2023 19:34

That all sounds very stressful, Emma.
