The only thing I am sure of is that the current owners really like orange. Blimey.

IglesiasPiggl · 15/05/2023 14:33

It's part of a barriers to stop the triffids getting in.

the80sweregreat · 15/05/2023 14:34

Orange screams the 70s to me usually , but I could live with it for a while as it all looks new snd in fairly good condition and change it later on!
As long as they took the wheeled items away in the garden I'm sure it'll be fine
No garage though.

thenightsky · 15/05/2023 14:34

Awnings to stop the fake grass from melting in the hot sun.

Seasonofthewitch83 · 15/05/2023 14:35

How on earth is a two bed bungalow in that area of the UK almost half a million quid?!

Crikeyalmighty · 15/05/2023 14:36

My parents had a moben kitchen like that in late 70s - was really trendy then - I quite like it!

Chersfrozenface · 15/05/2023 14:37

The Nationwide awnings site does advertise wheeled awnings and says "We manufacture each product to your specifications".

Hate to think how much they paid for those hulking monsters.

commonground · 15/05/2023 14:38

I think they are 'bespoke' because the wheels are orange and so made to go with the house. (Whatever purpose they serve). Lucky new owner.

Because it comes with ridiculous expensive and ugly, bespoke garden awnings :P

bookmarket · 15/05/2023 14:40

If you go on Bing maps, aerial view, you can see the awnings in action. For such a big monstrosity in the garden, the awnings aren't that big once out. I suspect the garden is very overlooked and they use them for privacy. If their Google Street view is blurred out, it makes you question why they need so much privacy.

AFishCalledKeith · 15/05/2023 14:41

100% that house and the lawn gets far too hot in the summer to be comfortable.

Half a million quid for that. Bloody hell. Shock You'd have to REALLY want to live there for that!

Seasonofthewitch83 · 15/05/2023 14:42

I dont think I have ever seen a street with so many blurred out houses which makes me think the neighbours are all going to be dickheads.

User565394 · 15/05/2023 14:44

My friend has a garden awning like this but her garden is much bigger. And when the awning is not up the legs are wheeled in against the house so you don't really notice them. Idk why these ones are in the middle of the garden, if that's what they are.
I haven't really paid all that much attention to my friend's awning but I will do next time I'm round and report back if we're still wondering.

Was it a Clockwork Orange the movie ?

commonground · 15/05/2023 14:47

You can blur your house out on google?! That I did not know.

TallulahBetty · 15/05/2023 14:49

Christ. Nearly half a mil for 2 bedrooms. Even if Thornbury is rather naice

I’m exactly the same!
I wouldn’t even be able to look at that house irl.

@YourMommaWasASnowblower haha! Me neither! Thought I was the only one like this…😂

NewUserName2023 · 15/05/2023 14:51

It looks like a gibbet for hangings :(

GabrielleLegs · 15/05/2023 14:52

Perhaps the street is called Fulmar Close because of the massive population of seagulls there. The canopy is to keep the fulmars off your barbie and the houses aren't blurred out, the google earth camera lens is covered in bird shit.

RavenclawDiadem · 15/05/2023 14:53

Lavenderheys · 15/05/2023 13:53

I think they are sun canopies. I’m more concerned at that horrific kitchen than what’s in the garden.

I like the kitchen! Lovely to see a house with colour and personality which isn't just grey.

AFishCalledKeith · 15/05/2023 14:44

Or maybe it's where they send people who get put into witness protection.

The giant awning is so you can't be seen if the people you are being protected from send drones over your garden.

But I think it's a really nice house and quite like the kitchen, and the study is lovely too. It's not just a '2 bed bungalow', it's spacious, light and modern and has a good sized study, so could be sold as a 3 bed. The price doesn't seem outlandish to me. There's one not too far from here, that's similar sized and on for £385k, it's nowhere near as nicely decorated and in an average area of much cheaper city than Bristol.

The garden structures are definitely somewhat oversized. I wonder if it's just a coincidence that they look like giant versions of the clothes rail in one of the bedrooms.
