@Guttedbuyer we have too. We were ready to exchange and then our seller pulled out after almost four months because they couldn't get a mortgage on their onward purchase having lied to us for all that time telling us it was fine. They'd applied and been rejected for four mortgages.

We found another house a couple of days later and we had to complete on our sale and move in with my parents as our buyer couldn't wait any longer.

It's been..... Stressful.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 07/12/2021 10:24

I logged a formal complaint with Santander. They said they would have a valuation booked in 24 hours so by about 5pm today. Then once that had been done, 48 hours to get a formal offer.

I don't believe it to be honest but I'm just going to ring again tomorrow if nothing is booked today.

I'm really fed up of their shit service. Day 27 today. Angry for a sodding amendment. It's ridiculous!

blacklilypad · 07/12/2021 10:56

Congrats @Katiekattty and @glastogal. Great news!

I have suddenly realised that even though I have looked and got spreadsheet after spreadsheet with removal costs, I haven't actually booked our van Blush

We are moving ourselves as we did when we moved out of our house and into PILs. We are planning to get a bigger van this time (a Luton). We complete on Thursday but I want to hire a Rug Doctor and clean the carpets. Do you think we should still hire the van from Thursday with the idea that we can load that evening and take up Friday morning? Or just get it Friday morning? We are planning to return it Saturday afternoon as they should give us enough time.

Most of the house is carpetted so can really move stuff until the carpets have dried. Unless I'm being silly doing the carpets? I

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 07/12/2021 11:17

Woohoo congrats @Katiekattty and @glastogal

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 07/12/2021 12:46

blacklilypad do not underestimate how long it will take for carpet to dry in winter. Hire the rug doctor from thurs pm, shampoo until you drop that night and crank up the heating.

Elephanttrunk · 07/12/2021 12:51

Did everyone clean their carpets?? I wasn’t planning to…

PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 07/12/2021 13:19

We did, but only because they had a yappy dog and an alsatian and we had a cat that hated dogs.
Luckily we didn't have much to move (small 2 bed to big 4 bed) so it wasn't too difficult, and the garage came in very handy. Grin

glastogal · 07/12/2021 14:22

Hooray hooray, we have completed!! Going to pick up the keys when my son gets out of preschool. Can't wait to get in there

Meanwhile my solicitor won't even discuss exchange or completion dates, even a rough estimate, until we have the mortgage offer Angry

Agadorsparticus · 07/12/2021 15:05

I've seen some of the outstanding enquiries now it seems our solicitor is being a bit over top asking for the moon. Our vendors probably hate her.
All they needed to say is that they don't have building regs for the conservatory and garage conversion that was fitted before they moved in etc. Probably be an indemnity policy or not even worry about it.

You are being a bit silly doing the carpets. It’s a nice idea but you will have enough on your plate ... I wouldn’t bother tbh as buyers certainly don’t expect anything more than clean & tidy and don’t always get that
PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets · 07/12/2021 16:34

@Twiglets1 I think @blacklilypad intends to clean the carpets in her new home before she moves her furniture etc in.

I don't mind being corrected it won't be the first time Grin

Momniscient · 07/12/2021 16:48

Well this is weird. I had a dream (bordering on actual nightmare) a couple of nights ago where I was desperately trying to work out how to use a Rug Doctor on our existing wood floors on the day of moving out. Running out of time, people turning up soon, they'd walk away and somehow we'd lose all the money if the floors weren't clean, etc etc.

...so I also hope the Rug Doctor is for the new house! And for carpets! Voice of unconscious experience! Grin

Okigen · 07/12/2021 17:21

Dates agreed. Fund requested. We are exchanging tomorrow I'm going to cry 😹😹😹

beguilingeyes · 07/12/2021 17:32

We finally exchanged today. After a couple of insanely stressful weeks. We're selling two properties to buy one so it was a little more complicated than usual but we're finally there.
Completing on January 12th to get Christmas out of the way first.

Twiglets1 · 07/12/2021 17:35

Oh well that would make a lot more sense haha

blacklilypad · 07/12/2021 21:07

@Twiglets1, @PussyCatEatingPigsInBlankets yes in the new house! We sold our house back in June and have been living with in laws. I just think it would be the only time I would easily be able to do it as it would be empty.

@Momniscient haha definitely using on carpets! Although I can imagine it getting to some horrible hour and in my sleep deprived state trying to do the tiles Grin

Guttedbuyer · 07/12/2021 21:15

Sorry to hear others have been through the same thing as me. We are 99.9% certain the purchase won’t go ahead but we will let them be the ones to pull out unless something else crops up for us.

If/when that happens it’ll be the most ridiculous luck if we manage to find something else as there’s only been a handful of half suitable properties up for sale in the last year.

Lovely to hear that some people are getting into their new house after a stressful time though. Shows that there is light at the end of the tunnel one way or another!

Elephanttrunk · 07/12/2021 21:55

Ahh @blacklilypad that makes sense, hope the carpet cleaning goes well.

We finally exchanged today too and complete next week, haven’t got removals sorted yet though eek!!

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 08/12/2021 09:17

Well guess what the valuation still hasn't been booked. Rang complaints again this morning and "they don't know" why this is. They don't know why it's taken 28 working days so far instead of 12.

They're going to look into it and ring me back. Less than 2 weeks until Xmas deadline. We're not going to make it because of these useless feckless wankers.

Fuck all of this. I have absolutely had enough.

instantpotnoodle · 08/12/2021 10:06

@Getyourarseofffthequattro oh no, what an absolute pain in the arse. Honestly email the CEO of Santander now. It’ll be picked up by the executive complaints team and it’ll be sorted v quickly. You’ll be able to find his/her email address easily with a Google.

I came on her to celebrate getting our mortgage offer this morning, but don’t want to gloat.

That's a good idea, I'll do that thank you!

Noooo don't stop sharing good news on my account! Smile
