What a nightmare @Elephanttrunk

That team rang our mortgage advisor to "remind" us the funds were ready to draw down after all that pissing about. But then our bloody purchase fell through and now we are back to pissing about again. Aghhhh

Agadorsparticus · 22/11/2021 15:25

Yes, it took us ages to get a mortgage offer with Santander too. When we needed to change the offer to a new property we had to reapply again from scratch. Another 6 weeks later, finally got the offer through. Thankfully we managed to lock the good rates before they shot up.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 22/11/2021 16:01

Well I'm reassured that it's not just us but feeling a bit hopeless thinking it'll be ages again. How come you had to reapply @Agadorsparticus? They've said "amendment" to us but in reality we have had to submit everything again so it may as well be a full application again. They'll query the childcare fees again for a second time I imagine, and everything else they asked about the first time.

Mumsybud · 22/11/2021 17:51

Hello again!
Quick update but also asking for advice ?

So the cyber attack continues (looks diabolical and affecting thousands of chains). But fortunately our top of chain have agreed to move out and rent to their buyers. Effectively breaking the chain but allowing everyone to move. We have had a couple of days suggested which have been and gone. Each time I get more frustrated!

However, now the chain is sorted we are aiming for the 30th. Our seller has a help to buy loan. His solicitor tells us that we are waiting for confirmation that HTB are happy with the 30th for settlement. Has anyone experience of this ? I’m wondering if it’s going to be more delays. Don’t know much about help to buy. Solicitors seem to drop things on you last min. Do people find there is ALWAYS something round the corner 🤯

Agadorsparticus · 22/11/2021 22:13

We went on the amendment bit of the application to change the property address but it stated we had to set up a new application for a new property. Pain in the arse especially since we are now in temporary accommodation and have no real proof of address, but at least we knew the queries this time and had everything prepared.

glastogal · 22/11/2021 23:22

@Mumsybud yes, there's always seems to be something else!! We were told on Friday we were just waiting for the indemnity policy.. that came through today and suddenly we are still waiting for some s38 stuff. Er ok, but if you had told me that was outstanding last week I'd have had the agent chasing it so why am I just hearing about it now?? Desperate to exchange for crying out loud.

Anyway, she's marked enquiries as being fully answered in digital move tonight so I'm hoping that means everything came back 🤷‍♀️ in theory we've just got exchange and completion left on the list of tasks.. can we finally make this happen?

Mumsybud · 23/11/2021 07:19

That’s how I feel! Suggesting dates and pushing from the other side , but all along there a things outstanding holding it up, when if we had known we could have been ensuring was done ? It’s just soul destroying. All the while living out of boxes …….

instantpotnoodle · 23/11/2021 10:09

Is anyone using Nationwide for their mortgage? Just wondering how long they took to approve the application….

Flowersandthorns · 23/11/2021 12:58

We have porter our Nationwide mortgage. We met with the advisor on Saturday then valuation 5 days later and offer the same day. Very impressed!

instantpotnoodle · 23/11/2021 13:29

@Flowersandthorns that is impressive! The valuation was booked v quickly and done within 3 working days of applying so hopefully the rest of the process will be just as swift! Just waiting to hear whether the valuation was OK - that’s our only real concern as we’re buying in a super hot area so considerably over asking price!

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 23/11/2021 13:31

That sounds like a dream!
Getyourarseofffthequattro · 23/11/2021 13:41

I can't believe how quickly other lenders get on with it. Why are Santander so utterly shit?

BabyPotato · 23/11/2021 13:57

We are with Nationwide too and our offer in principle had expired when we made an offer on this house. My husband rang our broker and we re-sent some details over and we had our offer within a week. That was the only thing that hasn't gone to shit with our selling/buying process.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 23/11/2021 14:00

Wow!

I'm insanely jealous. I've had nothing but issues. 4 weeks for the first mortgage offer. On to week 4 for this amendment after the first purchase fell through.

We are both employees, nothing complicated about our income or outgoings at all. House number 2 is cheaper so no affordability issues. I really cannot understand what is taking them so long. I want to move for Xmas. I'm so fucking fed up with their shitty service.

Okigen · 23/11/2021 20:21

Erm, the other side asks whether we can exchange next week but I haven't seen any of the outstanding enquiries yet 🙄 No clue whether they have been received because my solicitors and her associates seem to be all out of the office, how great.

I probably need to call tomorrow. And then what do I do if these losers are still out of the office ? Ask to see their senior partner? I start to lose the will to continue (again) Hmm

glastogal · 23/11/2021 20:33

Your solicitors sound hopeless @Okigen - I can't believe they aren't keeping you informed. I really hope they are quietly ready to go for you!

We are hoping (possibly foolishly) for exchange this week. There are 2 docs outstanding from our enquiries but they are apparently on their way - apparently.. everything else is ready so as soon as they arrive we can sort out exchange and complete ASAP!!

Okigen · 23/11/2021 20:50

@glastogal it's odd that they have all 5 star reviews on Reviewsolicitor.com, Trustpilot.com and the likes. I think nothing will ever happen until I kick up another fuss. I'm a very non-confrontational person and the whole thing is causing me immense stress (again).

Anyway, good luck with your purchase. Hopefully you can exchange this week Grin

glastogal · 23/11/2021 20:54

@Okigen good luck to you too!! I'm also not good at confrontation and have struggled being hard enough with everyone. My solicitor says I'm too nice. She also has said to both me and my partner that she's more stressed about our purchase than we are.. uh, I don't think so..

Okigen · 23/11/2021 21:15

@glastogal I don't even know what these "outstanding enquiries" relate to! I have asked many times what they are and the solicitors always dodged the question. I rarely feel angry in my whole life but these losers make my blood boil every 2 weeks or so.

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 24/11/2021 08:42

I'm really really hoping for some news today.

Stepdad said there's no reason to complain. I disagree and so does my mum but he's the least confrontational man ever. Someone could burn his house down and he'd not complain. I think I'm driving him mad with my pestering but if I don't ask it seems nothing gets done!

Getyourarseofffthequattro · 24/11/2021 11:11

Well the news we got was that one wage slip "didn't scan properly" and can they have it again Hmm

Does that mean another two days to check it, another two to send it to underwriters, another two to do anything else with it. I am maddddddd

So the survey has confirmed asbestos in the detached garage.. has anyone bought/sold/lived with a garage with asbestos? My gut feeling is we predicted it would have and it's not really an issue unless disturbed so it's going to the bottom of the future job list.. or am I missing something and this is actually a problem?

Our house had an asbestos garage. We had it taken down by a company who deal with asbestos and it cost just over a grand that was about two years ago. (It was v old and it was a second garage we didn't need, nothing inherently wrong with it though)

We did store things in it, were just careful not to damage it or put nails in the walls etc. We never had a problem.

Summersdreaming · 24/11/2021 13:08

@Getyourarseofffthequattro thanks, good to hear. Yes a quick Google of quotes gave £500-2500 so good to know that range seems right.
