We put in an offer on a house at the end of January.

It’s bloody July and we have still not moved.

Everything on our side was done and dusted months ago.

Keep chasing solicitor, for the past six weeks they keep saying vendors are still going though enquiries.

Thankfully we are renting, but my God, i’ve never known anything like it.

I put in an offer on a house in July 2020 and have still not moved or even got an exchange date! 🙈😱 I think mine is an extreme case though.

HOW are you still going….?! I would have given up by now. Or thrown myself off a bridge 🤣🙈

We offered on 12th May and even I’m itching to get going now!

I have uttered the words ‘I give up, I don’t care if we lose the house’ more times than I’ve had hot dinners 😅

The conveyancing took 6 months which was really frustrating as I was really wanting to get into the house. We then had four months of stress with the top of the chain refusing to commit to a date until he found a rental. There was a lot of game playing-we were led to believe on several occasions that we might be moving in a couple of weeks but then he would dash our hopes. It was incredibly stressful knowing that this horrible person had the entire chain over a barrel.

At the beginning of this month, someone further up the chain pulled out and very quickly got an offer accepted on a no chain property. So we’re just waiting for all of the conveyancing etc to be done. It’s frustrating knowing we have to wait another few months but it’s much preferable to the situation we were in with the previous top of the chain.

That sounds like a nightmare. i really hope it’s sorted soon.

Yep, offer accepted in Sept (ONE buyer and me in chain) and after constant goal post changing we were supposed to exchange within June, and still hasn't!
First searches took about 5 weeks - ready in late Dec, then lockdown in winter, he announced in Feb he's not a cash buyer anymore and sijce then he's been chasing mortgages for BTL - switched to a better one then stalled for whatever reason, then progress in May with survey from bank and additional survey, I've found a house in early May and ready to exchange there now (skipped searches as I thought we are moving finally). Nope, he stlill played games - prob switching again for a better deal, and now ir's 'next week' ad infinitum.

Decided now to give it a go on rightmove again - or at least withdraw the discount of a few K I've given him post survey, as I@m out of pocket by thousands due to delays.

Some people are utters wankers who think the world revolves around them.

Gyptoian so he's found the rental n ow? how would that work, has he agreed to wait for your conveyancing?

Gyptian · 02/07/2021 07:25

@CatAndHisKit- no, he is out of the picture completely now which makes me so much less stressed. This was because someone further up the chain from us but lower than him pulled out and took the chain with them. So we have a new top of the chain, thank goodness!

Newhousehope · 02/07/2021 08:16

Well fingers crossed it might be coming to an end soon for you @Gyptian!!

Arsebucket · 02/07/2021 10:54

We’ve been looking all the way through, but we have specific area we have to stay in for a little while and this house was the best of a bad bunch. it’s just been loads of shitholes put on since (we only have a small budget).

The vendors have been arses with us (it took 6 weeks for the surveyor to be allowed in as every date wasn’t convenient for them).

I know it would be another long wait, but if something else came up that we liked tommorow we would pull out.

This is a thread for me! Spent the whole day in tears as we broke the chain for fear of losing our buyer. We are grateful to be living within relatives but that will expire in a few weeks and then we are fucked if the chain above aren’t ready to go x

Thisisanartattack · 02/07/2021 13:23

We sold in September 2020 and still not in new house! 4 purchases fell through so we completed on our sale in May and now living with family. It’s pretty dire waiting for the 5th and expecting it to go wrong all the time!

B0YS · 02/07/2021 13:28

Yep, offer was 13 weeks ago (so not as long) but still no date in sight. Driving me insane as I have 3 young children, do we pack, do we not pack … (we’ve started packing some boxes and roped a room off). So bloody annoying!

Gettingonabitnow · 02/07/2021 13:31

@Thisisanartattack we are now living with family, I’m finding it really hard.

MrsKeats · 02/07/2021 13:33

It's been mad with that stamp duty holiday

Thisisanartattack · 02/07/2021 13:36

@Gettingonabitnow I found it so hard to start with, the day after we moved I was looking for rentals to get out ASAP! We went to view houses to view and found another to buy quite quickly so are staying put for now. We have moved about 300 miles away to be with family, luckily we WFH. We’ve been here about 6 weeks now and we have got more used to it, things will get better.

Same.

We’ve packed some stuff that isn’t in everyday use, books etc.

But we’re just in limbo here really!

Been there - done that.

I moved at long last on 25th March having first set out to move in January 2020.

The solicitor was a total pain in the rear - would not chase anything up unless I paid her extra!!!! I am so glad it is now all over and done with. I am NEVER EVER moving house again!

Our solicitor seems crap. Never available to speak to and takes days to respond to an email.

I have yet to speak to anyone at all who has been happy with their conveyancing solicitor. I have moved into a new-build close of 7 houses and every single one of them has had solicitor troubles: delays, disinterest, not answering phone or email. Are there any good ones out there I wonder?

Aroundtheworldin80moves · 03/07/2021 09:14

We offered in October moved April. And that was us moving from Work accommodation into an already vacated house. The house was empty from December...

(Although, it turns out we moved at perfect time, as a space in the local school came available just as we moved so DD got to have a two minute walk to school instead of a school taxi to wherever they found a place.)

They've all over stretched themselves with the property market going haywire!)

I'm fed up and only accepted an offer and had our offer accepted 6 week ago!

Gettingonabitnow · 03/07/2021 11:07

Does everyone wish the weekend away now so that the working week starts again and there’s a chance of an update?!! Fml x

Arsebucket · 03/07/2021 11:53

@Gettingonabitnow yes!! for the past couple of months. Honestly, I feel like my life is on hold. It’s a horrible feeling. I just want to bloody move Sad
