We put in an offer on a house at the end of January.

It’s bloody July and we have still not moved.

Everything on our side was done and dusted months ago.

Keep chasing solicitor, for the past six weeks they keep saying vendors are still going though enquiries.

Thankfully we are renting, but my God, i’ve never known anything like it.

Oh that sounds like such a nightmare! I don't know why they can't just do their jobs 😫

Well after a 5 minute call with the EA it turns out we’re the hold up 🤣 bloody solicitor.
Indemnity insurance agreed, and they’ve just asked for a completion date…. Now I’m panicking 🙈🤣

Wow that’s great!

I’m struggling, spent the past hour crying sat next to the kids, it’s just all so stressful and uncertain, I just want a home rather than living with relatives x

Oh that’s so hard, I’m so sorry. I think i’d go crazy if we were with relatives. It’s so hard not having your own space.

That's really tough. I'm sorry you got upset. It must be so difficult living with family!

Thanks ladies. I called the EA again today, they are nice enough but there is just no end in sight. I could feel my voice breaking on the phone to her x

Similar position here. All went through and they gave us a compleion date of the 11th June. House is in the same street where we currently live. I can see it sitting empty.

However when probate was issued apparently it was issued incorrectly and now has to be corrected. We are still waiting.

I get the same response every time I ring up too. ' we are still waiting for probate, we will let you know if anything changes.'

It feels like it will never happen and my mortgage offer runs out soon. I can't go through all that stress of bank account checks again! It really is barbaric. That's without mentioning missing the stamp duty deadline.

oh man!

Yes, our mortgage offer lasts until september. I honestly can’t see us being in by then.

Nope me neither but the thought of the questions and even collating all of my documents again is making me anxious.

It's a nightmare!

It took long with the first application. I can’t face it again.

I never, ever expected it to take this long. A month after we put in the offer, we went to view the house again as dh hadn’t seeen it yet (long story!), and they were already packing, house full of boxes. that was the end of feb!

Put our house on the market Oct 2020.

We sold our house and found a purchase in January this year.

In May our purchase fell through.

In June we found a new purchase

Last week our buyer pulled out.

after a frantic week getting our house ready for viewings etc we found a new buyer.

Searches in our area taking 10+ weeks

We've missed the stamp duty holiday and may well miss the taper.

It never ends. Sad

Oh i’m so over it now. We aren’t even going to bother chasing them for a couple of weeks. I’m in quite a bad place with a few other things at the moment and I just can’t handle it anymore.

You know those times where everything is just too much?

I really hope you hear something this week.

Ah @Arsebucket I totally hear you. I was thinking the same, I’m going really look at the rental market this week and see what it’s like.

To top it all off … our landlord phoned today. Our tenancy runs out in ten days, he’s expecting us to renew for another 6 months like we’ve done twice.

I was honest, told him what was going on and asked if we could go on to a rolling monthly contract.

He laughed and said no.

And that he made it very clear when we moved in that he only took 6 month agreements (which is why we put an offer in on a house in Jan - we never dreamed we would still be here now).

He said he was going to speak to his business partner and put the phone down.

Now I don’t know what to do. if this house falls through we’d have to stay - there’s no where else to buy in our price range or even rent in our price range Sad

I know he’d have to serve us with a section 21 - but imagine finding a new place to rent after that if the house does fall through?

Oh @Arsebucket. First of all he sounds like a dick. If he says no to rolling contract then I’d take the six months. At least you have a fixed place. These chasing houses is absolutely savage, there is no easy answer x

If you haven't been served a section 21, you haven't got to go anywhere. Refuse to sign a new term, continue to pay your rent and assume you're on a rolling contract until he actually serves you a section 21. Even then, you're only obliged to leave if he starts the eviction process.

It’s just more problems we don’t need really.

I just long for a life where things work out and there is no stress, just doesn’t happen for us!

I thought after 12 months you were entitled to a rolling one regardless?

I do think big you have to pay for 6 months the reduction in stress would be worth it.

You could exchange and agree completion date a few months later then decorate and move at your leisure.

Panic over - landlords wife just called me back and told me not to worry, rolling contract and the one month notice is fine and she wished us luck. She said he’d had a bad day and apologised for his rudeness.

So that’s one less worry.

I can’t wait to get out of renting.
