We put in an offer on a house at the end of January.

It’s bloody July and we have still not moved.

Everything on our side was done and dusted months ago.

Keep chasing solicitor, for the past six weeks they keep saying vendors are still going though enquiries.

Thankfully we are renting, but my God, i’ve never known anything like it.

Had a dream the removal men were clearing the house and it had all happened. Then the baby woke up at 5am and burst that bubble! 🤦‍♀️ FML

Arsebucket · 13/07/2021 09:56

It’s so funny you should say that, I had a dream last night that we moved into a new house (not the one we are buying, something far grander 😆), and the kids we’re bickering over bedrooms.

I’m buying a euro millions ticket tonight in the hope that i’ll win and I can have the pleasure
of telling everyone to shove it in the morning!

Doing everything to stop myself calling the EA today, I promised myself I’d wait until tomorrow x

Sorry you are all not getting anywhere. We have had a call from solicitors. They are hoping to have things finalized by the end of the week so we can set a date. I'll believe it when I see it 😂

Gallowayan · 13/07/2021 19:32

I feel your pain. My experience was horrible. We need a new system (like the one in France) where you enter into a written legally binding contract when your offer is accepted.

Rosegoldfan · 13/07/2021 19:45

Still waiting here too. Emailed my solicitors, no reply as yet.

Gettingonabitnow · 13/07/2021 20:13

I’m saving my weekly call until tomorrow, a mid-week ‘no update I’m afraid, sit tight, we can’t give any timeframes’ 🤮

Arsebucket · 13/07/2021 20:17

We are waiting until Monday next week to call.

I know we are lucky to be in the position to buy a house (albeit at the age of 41, in an area where we don’t want to live but have no choice as it’s all we can afford, in a house we don’t really like as it’s the cheapest shithole around), but the stress is making me feel ill.

41 here too. I am sure it wasn't this stressful in my 20s
CharlieBrown65 · 13/07/2021 20:21

I've come out with a giant stress rash all over my body with the stress of it! I completely know how you feel. 😫

Gettingonabitnow · 14/07/2021 10:27

😞 spoke to the EA, there is just no end in sight. I feel so desperate and regretful that we sold out lovely little home. All the rentals are grotty. God this is awful.

heidihigh · 14/07/2021 13:09

We had our offer accepted in January too and we haven't exchanged or moved yet either! We are FTB and our vendors are moving into rented so no chain but they don't seem to be able to find anywhere to go! Our mortgage offer expires on aug 4th too so I'm losing hope day by day Angry

Arsebucket · 15/07/2021 13:12

Estate agent just called. Said she was going to chase the vendor and get back to us - great. But didn’t I ask you to do that last week?

Christ on a bike.

The update will either never come or just be more crap.

@heidihigh I’m so sorry you are going through it too.

@Gettingonabitnow Sad it’s such a mess isn’t it.

We got a call saying be prepared for 2 weeks. The next morning my boyfriend got told to isolate as he's been in contact with someone positive. If he develops covid I'm leaving him in the shed 😂

Rosegoldfan · 15/07/2021 21:17

I got my date. 30th July. Hoping its for definite this time.

Hope you all hear something soon.

CharlieBrown65 · 15/07/2021 21:34

This is great news! Sending you lots of positive vibes!

Rosegoldfan · 15/07/2021 21:38

Thanks. Wishing you all the same.

Having to isolate myself too but will be out before completion.

Arsebucket · 16/07/2021 09:56

So, I got an update this morning.

The vendors vendors have a disabled parent living with them and can’t find a suitable house to buy.

They have been looking for a while and haven’t seen anything.

I have sympathy for them of course.

But we can’t wait forever, can we?

Vendors have said they are happy to wait as long as it takes. Well, they aren’t the ones chucking away £300 more a month on rent than the mortgage will be.

So that leaves us with the option to wait or to pull out. Bearing in mind there is nothing else around and we can’t afford to lose the solicitors fees.

What a mess.

Ahhhh what an absolute nightmare. Not fair on you as sellers at all.

Oh no that sounds crap, really sympathise with you. It's so frustrating with the catch 22 people are in - your vendors presumely think they'll sell again quickly so don't care if you pull out, but equally you would struggle to find something else.

I've not long just managed to get my chain complete and still expecting something to go wrong.

Arsebucket · 16/07/2021 11:27

Yes, our vendors don’t care. They would find another buyer in a heartbeat and they know it. It’s very much the best of a bad bunch in a not great area. They also know they would probably get more money if they put it on the market again - the estate agent very helpfully told me that she had told them that Hmm

OP posts:
CharlieBrown65 · 16/07/2021 12:50

That's so frustrating, I really feel for you. They know they've got the upper hand and that you can't pull out!

Arsebucket · 20/07/2021 21:39

Another no update update today.

I’ve unpacked the boxes that we packed up, I needed up needing some stuff Sad

@Arsebucket I was literally just on rightmove looking at rentals when the mumsnet alert from you came up!

Still alongside you with a fucking shit situation! Hope your luck changes soon x
