A bloody village pub and they have decided to protect the poor ickle smokers from the rain.

Oh my heart bleeds for them.

I mean ffs, they are bloody killing themselves so what does it matter if they get bloody wet!!!!

So now theres the chance that they might build this and we'll have everyone and their mother puffing away outside

I might put in an application to build a gallows.

mary - don't know what the layout is.

I was just trying to make the point that the pub may feel that they have to do this.

Of course I may be talking crap as usual in which case you should all ignore me.

true dragon.

I cant think like that Squonk. Not my problem. At the end of the day smoking around others that do not smoke is distgusting IMO and unfair so they should be made to go outside.

"with a patio heater" Fab. They can contribute hugely to global warming too. Patio heaters are appalling!

southeastastra · 19/10/2007 12:09

it's not illegal so stop moaning

Nbg · 19/10/2007 12:09

The letter wasnt from the couple. Its come from the council.

Isn't it harder to get an apllication turned down than it used to be? lady next door 9also a ocnservation area) built herself an elevated extension that means she can stare into ds1's room and we tried to get it removed but 'quiet enjoyment' apaprently not such a case any more, according to the council.

Although we are in wales so may be different.

Do object though- right by your front door when there is cover elsewhere unfair

I'm not trying to say that they should be made comfortable.

What I am trying to say is that if the pub is reliant on their custom then they will want to keep them comfortable.

That's all

Nbg · 19/10/2007 12:14

Oh if its affecting their custom then I can certainly see why they are doing it.
It hasnt been the most successful of pubs and has had many owners apparently but this couple seem to be doing well with it.

SEA, its not illegal no but its bloody distgusting and I dont want it on my doorstep.

If the couple are nice and you think you could approach them, why not pop over and have a chat with them.

Explain why you don't want it where they have planned it, ask them if they really feel that they need it as they have got other areas where smokers can go and if they are adamant that they need it, ask if it can be sited somewhere less intrusive for you.

If that fails, then you should object, because you don't want it there and it will affect your enjoyment of your house.

But I would chat to them first if you think they are pleasant people.

Nbg · 19/10/2007 12:24

We could do that. It would make sense, especially to keep things good between us all.
One thing that does play on my mind a bit is that we spoke to them about this time last year as we had a Rat that got into our house.
The landlady became very defensive about it all and it made us a bit weary after that.

I have just contacted the planning office and they said I can see the full plans on their site by monday and if not they will email them to us.

HotLove · 20/10/2007 14:13

NBG im impressed - i thought the smokers were gonna be shot and worried about this all night but now theres plans and a truce going on - how smashing

Nbg · 21/10/2007 14:00

Smokers may as well shoot themselves IMO hotlove.
Pointless in trying to argue with me on that matter.

Its a vile, distgusting, selfish and dirty habit.

Sorry but thats my opinion.

OP posts:
HotLove · 21/10/2007 15:03

do you drink? do you eat junk at all? Nope, just V8 and cabbage for you?

Nbg · 21/10/2007 15:11

I dont drink actually and I do eat rather well as am pregnant atm.

I dont really think you can compare smoking to eating a greasy takeaway.

When someone sparks up a cigarette, they are not only harming themselves but others around them.

PintaBlood · 21/10/2007 15:15

We were in a queue for a concert the other night and 2 teenage girls in front of us were smoking. I was nearly choked.

Do people think that just because they smoke outside, they're not affecting anybody?

dressedupnowheretogo · 21/10/2007 15:30

i have visted nbg's house and i feel quite strongly on this becase her front veiw is so picturesque

they pub provides gazebos to the side of the pub so i cant nderstande why they cant make this more substantial

her cottage ajoins the pub and it all fits nicely so a big massive cubicle would be a blight on the landscape to the front of the pub

i smoke and i smoked out side her gate on the pub wall to the rear of the pub where there is a shelter and is out of sight and dry

kittywitch · 21/10/2007 15:41

Nbg, stop whinging it's tedious.

PintaBlood · 21/10/2007 15:49

Have you thought of name changing permanently to kittybitch?

Nbg · 21/10/2007 15:53

pmsl at stop whinging

rofl

where else have i "whinged"?

OP posts:
Nbg · 21/10/2007 16:00
