Fabulous news @notheragain4, enjoy your choccies and prosecco and good luck with the final push.

We've got surveyor booked in on our place for the same day as our surveyor on the new place, so a stressful day (early October) bit good to get it all done at the same time. Otherwise no movement... Conveyancer should be back off holiday as of Monday so hopefully hear some stuff back from her re: searches and enquiries then.

Happy moving day @notheragain4!

How was last night @JustFrustrated?

I’m living vicariously through completers! Everything is so stressful right now. And DP is Met police, turns out he knew the officer murdered in Croydon yesterday personally so trying to support him with that as well. In 5 years I think this is only the second time I’ve seen him with tears in his eyes.

Anyway. I’m going to see if I can speak to the lender today to get some reassurance that things will be ok with my mortgage with us having to return the money, as the solicitor’s “hopefully” didn’t exactly fill me with confidence.

And email my poor electrician who I have on standby for the rewiring!

I'm sorry to read that @Lemonylemony. From reading the papers, he seemed like a top bloke. It's awful.

NewHouseNewMe · 26/09/2020 09:07

It truly puts it all into perspective!

Well I guess I will leave you guys here on this thread with you moving onto a new one and us completing.

I just want to thank you all for being such a friendly, patient sounding board, it's really helped contain my sanity the last few months and was lovely to have somewhere to share my excitement at all the little goals along the way.

I wish you all huge amounts of luck, it's a bloody awful journey but you'll all get there one way or another, hopefully sooner rather than later xxx

Lemonylemony · 26/09/2020 10:37

We’ve got 200 posts left on this one haven’t we?

DP said that too, great bloke. It’s horrendous what happened.

@Jujuball is it normal for solicitors to be returning mortgage funds without the clients directly instructing them to when dates become uncertain? Both the vendors and my solicitor have done this, without speaking to us first, and if they hadn’t we would probably have been able to complete on Monday.

Jujuball · 26/09/2020 10:44

@Lemonylemony to be honest, yes - the lender is as much their client as you are and we're obligated to act in the lender's best interests. Lenders each have their own rules on when mortgage advances must be returned, some say if completion fails it must be returned the same day, some let you hold onto it for 3/4 working days. Really rubbish in your circumstances I know Sad

@notheragain4 I have just posted on the new thread, but thought I would mention it on this one, we have started to make progress through the final queries (the solicitors have put someone who gives a damn on our case). Fingers crossed we will be in, in the next couple of weeks.

Congratulations on your move. Hope your new house is wonderful.

Lemonylemony · 26/09/2020 13:30

I figured as much - exceedingly daft though as it’s prevented us from completing next working day and now we have to re-request the funds and “hopefully” we’ll get them back!

Incredibly patronising email this morning from one of my solicitor’s (male) juniors saying that the vendor would never agree to complete on this purchase on Monday if her onward purchase wasn’t ready - well, she did agree mate, but your actions scuppered it anyway.

I will not be using these solicitors again if this falls through and I have to start again with a new house.

moveandmove · 28/09/2020 13:42

I chased my buyer's searches this morning and was told they were sent back on the 22nd September. The last update from all solicitors on Friday was that we were still waiting for the searches so not sure whats going on there.
Hoping we're ready to exchange now!
