So sorry Elvisandangel, worst nightmare stuff.

Zebrahooves · 25/09/2020 07:53

Sorry to hear that @ElvisandAngel. I hope your chain manages to stay together and you get someone new at the bottom.

@Lemonylemony thinking of you today. I really hope that it works out.

@notheragain4 congratulations on reaching the end of your journey. It feels like we have been a long way together.

@kerrymucklowe2020 another week next week, let's hope for some progress.

May the fickle gods of paperwork, chains and surveys smile on all of us.

checkedcloth · 25/09/2020 08:07

@Lemonylemony hoping that it’s good news for you this morning - thinking of you.

Hoping everyone gets the completion / exchange news they hope for.

We are holding out on feedback from our second viewing yesterday , here’s hoping for good news

ElvisandAngel · 25/09/2020 08:09

@Lemonylemony @kerrymucklowe2020 @Jujuball thank you, it was the very bottom of the chain so the whole thing has collapsed. We have re-listed the house, we feel a bit broken and dazed this this morning because we HAD to move to help us financially. Life is so stressful at the moment, Pre Covid we were absolutely fine, just amazed at how quickly things can fall apart. Have to go to work now and try and be normal.

Good luck to everybody else today!!!

checkedcloth · 25/09/2020 08:09

@ElvisandAngel just seen your post - I am so sorry, that’s just awful for you. I really hope the chain can somehow be kept together

tigerbear · 25/09/2020 08:30

@ElvisandAngel so sorry, how devastating for you 😔

Maybenexttime08 · 25/09/2020 08:50

@ElvisandAngel - I'm so sorry - what a nightmare and a stupid system. Did you find a buyer quite quickly? Hopefully there is somebody waiting for it to come back on the market who is ready to pounce. Hope work is a distraction for you.

We are completing on our sale today - as we are in rented we went down to the house to say goodbye (and I shed a small tear - 15 years of memories). As we're not in the house there isn't anything for us to do today - I presume I'll just get a call at some point saying it's done??

Now on to the purchase... and getting our bloomin' mortgage!

Lemonylemony · 25/09/2020 08:54

Seeing as we’re bottom of the chain, we should be in first right, if it all goes ahead?

notheragain4 · 25/09/2020 08:56

@Maybenexttime08 us too, you're buying a new build too aren't you? We have an appointment to pick up keys, got a snagger coming at 3pm, we will do a couple car loads but moving properly tomorrow. How was your walk around?

Properly guilt tripped today, had to apologise to the teacher that we didn't complete reading this week due to moving chaos and she mentioned how worried my son is to move, feel so awful moving him Sad (not that we actually have a school place yet!)

kerrymucklowe2020 · 25/09/2020 09:15

Am I turning into a stalker? Went in Zoopla. There was a house on same street that went on for sale 2019 but never sold. Am wondering if it's because of the same issues I'm.having?

AmandaHugenkiss · 25/09/2020 09:16

@ElvisandAngel I’m so sorry. We are on buyer number 3, it’s such a bloody awful system and does nothing for your mental health. Hope you get another buyer quickly

AmandaHugenkiss · 25/09/2020 09:19

@kerrymucklowe2020 hope you get it resolved quickly, mining reports sound like another layer of stress on this whole carnival

kerrymucklowe2020 · 25/09/2020 09:19

@notheragain4, re school place we applied in July ! It's a blessing we haven't heard back tbh with the length this saga is going on for!
@Zebrahooves
@Maybenexttime08@Lemonylemony everything crossed for today for you both!
@zebrahooves - think we're both in it for the ( frustrating and stressful long haul). Let's strap ourselves in for the ride!

IamtheOnewithSocks · 25/09/2020 09:32

Im so sorry @ElvisandAngel. I hope you find another buyer quickly. Is there any chance of keeping the chain together if a new person can be found to replace the person who dropped out?

What a frustrating system that it takes so long to build a chain and it can fall apart without penalty so late in the day.

No news from us. We are hoping our purchase will be straightforward as we are buying a probate house and we are in rented now. Just waiting on survey and solicitor.

I'm wondering how much to get ready now - I'm doing a clear out already. It feels weird to think that we are largely just waiting now with little to do, but suddenly might be v busy once survey and conveyancing done as presumably exchange and completion date will be agreed soon after if the house is empty.

We probably want to do a few jobs before moving in, but need to wait for survey to be sure what needs doing and get quotes.

Prefer to choose furniture once we are in (local family will loan us temporary furniture) so don't want to think about that now.

Not sure if anything else we can do now? Maybe do my tax return early to get it out the way?!

Zebrahooves · 25/09/2020 09:36

@AmandaHugenkiss fingers crossed 🤞 for you that it is third time lucky (it was for us when selling). I'm glad to see that you have got another buyer.

notheragain4 · 25/09/2020 10:15

Well I'm assuming we've completed?! Had a notification from bank that the money due to us from solicitors has been paid so...? No news from Barratt or solicitor yet!

Lemonylemony · 25/09/2020 10:40

I think you get an official “notice of completion” at some point? I know our new local authority want that to register you for council tax so that’s how I know they exist!

Well, we’re not completing today, BUT, the vendors’ solicitor has drawn down their mortgage money so the expiry of today doesn’t matter apparently, and we’re all going to simultaneous exchange/completion on Monday. I’m not 100% clear on why it’s Monday and not today, but I think it’s because our vendor hadn’t actually arranged to move out of the house (bloody knew it), the EA said she was now arranging removal company for Monday.

Ah well. Monday evening we should have a house. One more weekend of slight limbo, but less worried about it all falling apart now.

So good luck to everyone else completing today! Hope everything goes smoothly!

kerrymucklowe2020 · 25/09/2020 11:06

Still no reply to enquiries from sellers solicitor!! I feel like they are obstructing the sale now or they're trying to hid something. I mean why wasn't the strip thing dealt with when they purchased the house? Has some solicitor seriously fucked up hence why delay and incomplete replies? Or am I just stressed and overthinking?

OP posts:
Lemonylemony · 25/09/2020 11:08

What is the question about the strip @kerrymucklowe2020? If it’s not your land, not included in the sale, doesn’t affect use of or access to your land, and you now know who owns it (even if you had to find it out yourself), what else do you need the vendor’s solicitor to do about it?

notheragain4 · 25/09/2020 11:19

Officially completed, can't pick up the keys until 1pm so the next hour and a half is going to drag so much!

Good luck everyone else! Frustrating not today @Lemonylemony but pleased it's more stable now Smile

kerrymucklowe2020 · 25/09/2020 11:37

@Lemonylemony my solicitor has asked for the EXACT location - title plan is ambiguous. I don't know why they can't answer the question they've had for 4 weeks!

OP posts:
kerrymucklowe2020 · 25/09/2020 11:39

Until I know it's exact location I don't know of it affects me etc ( a very long shot and hopefully won't apply to my purchase ) but it COULD affect house value

OP posts:
kerrymucklowe2020 · 25/09/2020 11:40

Congratulations @notheragain4

Is the exact location not just along one edge of your property though (from memory of your previous posts?) - not sure how they can answer that differently, unfortunately in law boundaries don’t seem to be very clear things on title plans and such. Have you tried the gardenlaw forum they have a board dedicated to boundary disputes might be some useful knowledge there?

Congrats @notheragain4!!!! So exciting
