FAQs I'm the same. I'm now selling the house I bought on my own 13 years ago. My ds 10 has been here his whole life. I'm trying not to think too much about how sad I'll be to leave it.

God sorry if my name keeps changing. I don't know how to stop it.

We have a completion date 😆😆😆😆😆

If you have used multiple usernames, when you post you can type any of your usernames in above your comment and it will appear in that name, it will default to whichever one your logged on as. But previous names remain ‘yours’ and can’t be used by anyone else.

No news today. I’m wondering whether we should move money ready to send - some is in DP’s account and some in mine - should we move it all to one account so it’s ready to send in one go?

@Lemonylemony I've been thinking that about the money too. We both currently have separate accounts and have no memory about how it worked when I bought this house. How do you even pay the money? Can you do it online or do you need to physically go into the bank?

So, we have our mortgage offer- subject to valuation- the survey came back ages ago and our searches are done.

HOWEVER.

The vendors who 'wanted to move quickly' are not replying to messages from our solicitor and aren't returning requested paperwork. The estate agent is also useless and isn't returning calls. There is only us in the chain, so no holdup elsewhere (we're FTB).

I feel like it shouldn't be this difficult to hand over hundreds of thousands of pounds!

JustFrustrated · 02/09/2020 20:19

We transferred ours via BACs to the solicitors

So I'd move it into the one account ready?

So....I was supposed to exchange and complet last week but the os sols sent last minute idiotic enquiries..

Hopefully they will all be answered tmrw so let's see !!

I was due to exchange on my new buildast.week and that.obviously couldnt happen either ! Im buying a David Wilson Cornell Home...they are happy to wait which is quite good !!

I.just want to complete already...

@Sweetpopsicle I share your pain - I spoke to our EA asking why our buyer wasn't ready to exchange to be told there were further queries now sitting with our solicitor. Then speak to solicitor who said they would deal with them 'soon'. Can they not give me a timescale so I know when to push people? 'Soon' doesn't help me!

Sweetpopsicle · 03/09/2020 07:49

@maybenexttime08 its awfuk isnt it !! I paid £1500 to rent an airbnb for 4 weeks as we couldnt find a short term met AND am paying the mortgage on my.old house !

The buyer asked to come.around to 'view' my house to make sure it was clean...as.she.had previously refused yo talk to me I told her via my EA to 'fuck right off ' Grin and it felt sooooo good lol

Not much to report here.. we had our homebuyers report back which was fine apart from damp in the porch at the front of the house - not really sure what to do about that? It's a not a deal breaker for us so I'm tempted to just not say anything but my DH thinks we should. We're meant to exchange next week, complete the week after and then my due date is the week after that.. I've gone beyond stress and feel in a weird state of calm now 😂

Congrats to anyone who's had progress

If it’s not a deal breaker and you don’t need to renegotiate then there’s nothing to say is there? Personally with damp I’d want to know the extent and why - but if it’s just the porch there’s probably an easy/obvious cause & fix I’m guessing.

Still silence, I’m ready to buy a house now, the sellers want to sell it to me, I don’t know why things aren’t happening.

@Lemonylemony we are in week 10 now and have been waiting for 2 - 3 weeks now for a report from the management company. I'm not expecting any movement this week. We wanted to be in before the kids go back to school which I didn't think was unreasonable.

Hope everyone else is seeing more progress.

Solicitors say they haven’t received our contract. Posted a week ago.

OH posted them first class not tracked. So looks like we’re going to have to do it again, get them witnessed again. Takes ages because of mine & OH working shifts and finding time when we can get to our friends house to witness.

AAAARRGGGHHHH!

Baxdream · 03/09/2020 13:51

Oh how frustrating @Lemonylemony ! We've been posting everything through our solicitors door of her actual house. Bit unusual but it's her choice and she lives 5 minutes away from us so it's pointless putting it in the post

Lemonylemony · 03/09/2020 14:15

Our vendors requested we use these solicitors and they are nowhere near us, and useless. Still, vendors can’t complain, and they’re the ones that need/want to move ASAP, we’re flexible with no other deadlines or constraints other than just bored of waiting now.

Report
Baxdream · 03/09/2020 14:19

That is exactly me too! I have no real need to move quickly other than I hate waiting and not being in control!

Out of interest when did people get the surveyors to go round - post mortgage offer or just alongside the wait? We submitted mortgage application circa a week ago (but bank holiday so...) But we know surveyors are super busy so trying to get one booked in. Don't want to cause any upset though if we don't even have a mortgage offer officially sorted?
Got a mortgage in principle etc and all other paperwork processed, searches underway...

We waited until we had our mortgage offer as we didn't want to risk being £600 down if the mortgage didn't get approved for some reason, but we used a company that give the report within 5 working days so there wasn't a hold up because of waiting for that.
Report
Lemonylemony · 03/09/2020 15:41

We did survey alongside mortgage application - people on here vary but some sellers get quite upset at the thought of surveys holding things up! I wasn’t worried about mortgage application coming through though. I initially thought I’d do things stepwise but people on here were horrified at that idea!

I think it's hard atm as mortgages are taking SO long, bearing in mind it's a process than takes about 2 weeks in normal times, now it's taking upwards of 8 weeks for some people so to go through all that and then start conveyancing and surveys can make the process extremely long. That said, it is the buyer's risk so it's understandable if they don't want to take it but I would just make sure you are open with sellers so they know about potentially long time scales. Our issue was our buyer knew we had a tight time scale but didn't tell us he wasn't starting anything else until mortgage offer was in and that took 7 weeks, so it was a nasty shock conveyancing hadn't started at that point (they'd alluded they were instructing).
