Today we have the 9th viewing of our house. Been on the market since Feb, and it just feels relentless now and I’m struggling to stay positive.

We had one offer which we accepted, but then they pulled out as they realised they actually couldn’t afford it.

I just feel like we will never sell. Every week making the house pristine, letting strangers look around and judge your house for them to give really positive feedback and then radio silence.

I guess this thread is just a bit of a moan really. Any positive stories welcome :)

Viewing number 5,463 the viewer said “there is no en-suite” 🤦🏼‍♀️ Yes that is correct that is why there isn’t one advertised!!! I feel like some viewings are a wind up honestly.... what do people except for a pretty cheap property....gold toilets, 5 bathrooms, an acre of land, parking for 10 cars!!

Anyone had any luck??

Simonsaysitschristmas · 30/07/2020 13:08

@fluffysugden I completely get you. I am so mentally exhausted and we are nowhere near the end. Our chain is all in agreement we want to be in as soon as possible and think October will be likely if all goes well but we will all push for September.

@organisedmother it’s so annoying isn’t it. We got a few questions of “oh, is there no downstairs bathroom?” have these people never heard of a floor plan!

We got a letter today from the council about planning permission to build some houses at the end of our street. It’ll become a new cul-de-sac and you won’t see anything from our house. I know it will come back in the searches but I think (and pray) our buyers will be fine with it.

@Simonsaysitschristmas I really hope it works out for you, it does drain you mentally.
@organisedmother we've had no feedback yet from yesterday's viewings which i know now means not interested as it has the other thousand times. We've had viewers who have obviously barely looked at the property details, I've never met so many stupid people.

Simonsaysitschristmas · 30/07/2020 14:00

@fluffysugden you may hear later on this afternoon. I’m a broken record but it really opens your eyes to how annoying other people are 😂 lots of people who are disorganised or haven’t done research. I think it feels worse for people like us because we do take it so seriously and we do genuinely want to move house so the time wasters are even more annoying.

Simonsaysitschristmas

If it becomes a cul Dr sac maybe it'll be more desirable and Smileworth more

Simonsaysitschristmas · 30/07/2020 15:22

@kerrymucklowe2020 that’s what I’m hoping for too!

It’s currently a social club/bar although our house is so far away we can’t hear it or see it, and our buyers are from the area so they fully knew it was there/what it was when they offered and they weren’t bothered. I’m hoping they will be happy the bar is going and instead it’ll become residential. I’ve also checked and it will be market housing rather than social housing as I know some people can be turned off by that.

@Simonsaysitschristmas that sounds like it would improve the area if anything. Don’t worry. I’m in total agreement about other people. I asked fewer questions of a listed property we were interested in when we bought than some of our viewers have asked of our bog standard 90s Lego build

Bigoldwimp · 30/07/2020 19:30

We did have some feedback today from someone that was quite glowing praise, which lifted my mood. They still didn’t buy it but I appreciated the positivity. I just need to knock down my neighbours house on the sly so that I can extend my garden

organisedmother · 30/07/2020 19:46

@Bigoldwimp I just need to mow my neighbours lawn! I’ve had 5 comments now about how next door looks, I got so furious I went out there at 7am cut all the weeds through there gate, sweeped up all dust and dirt, moved their bins directly outside their property instead of in the middle of the road! Then I remember 3 doors down their has been a television sat outside (basically on the street) for 3 months!!!! I just can’t 😅 I’m going to have to remove that aswell, people seem to forget their laziness devalues everyone else’s property!

Rant over.... doesn’t it make u feel great when you get some good feedback!

Simonsaysitschristmas · 30/07/2020 20:34

Ah @Bigoldwimp glad you got some positive feedback.

@organisedmother before one of our viewings our next door neighbour decided to put every piece of metal he could find on his drive. It looked absolutely awful but luckily the scrap man came and picked it up 20 minutes before our viewing showed up

organisedmother That's great news! So happy for you.

Come on everyone let's hear some more positive news!!

organisedmother · 03/08/2020 09:54

@Simonsaysitschristmas it happened Saturday after a 2 hour viewing! But to be honest I’m not even happy or excited I’m just waiting for it all to fail to be honest, but I’m a very negative person lol, we took 30k off the asking price and then had 12 viewings lined up wanted 300k sold for 270k but offerd 15k less for the house I’m buying so it’s not to bad 😅... have u had many more viewings?

Bigoldwimp · 03/08/2020 10:28

2 hour viewing. Crikey but congratulations. If the viewing was that long at least they are thorough and made a considered choice rather than leapt into something they hadn’t thought through, I think it will work out for you. Generally I’m an optimist.

We’re on viewing 28 today I think!! We’re getting lots of great feedback on the decor the condition of the house etc but our garden is the one thing that keeps preventing an offer. It’s a pleasant garden and we’re right opposite parkland but you couldn’t put a trampoline in it or anything.

fluffysugden · 03/08/2020 18:38

Great news @organisedmother, only wish I was in the same position. Fingers crossed for here on in!
@Bigoldwimp we're at 28 as well including second viewings. Got two sets of viewers thinking about it but don't seem in any hurry to do anything so not holding out any hope.

Mollyeyes · 03/08/2020 23:21

I am bewildered how a big decision has to be made on just one viewing a property, don’t get chance to check if water pressure in showers are alright, kitchen drawers etc. what’s it like in different times of the day and you have to make an offer just by looking at it in case it get snapped up.

Bigoldwimp · 04/08/2020 13:20

I agree @Mollyeyes i think you just have to try and do as much as possible before the viewing to check out the area and consider any questions you want to ask like how old the boiler is etc. Uncomplicated properties don’t always need a second viewing but older ones do

Bigoldwimp · 10/08/2020 11:42

Viewing 31....

Maybenexttime08 · 10/08/2020 12:04

@Bigoldwimp - Hope it's a lucky number for you :-(

kerrymucklowe2020 · 10/08/2020 12:17

Fingers and toes crossed!

organisedmother · 10/08/2020 12:53

@Bigoldwimp fingers crossed for you, great to have viewings when their is nice weather like today!

Simonsaysitschristmas · 10/08/2020 13:46

Fingers crossed for you @Bigoldwimp - let us know how it goes Smile

Bigoldwimp · 10/08/2020 17:59

Thank you. It was a “maybe “ from today : liked more to see. A lot of our viewers seem to have quite a large radius around the commuter belt. We did have an offer last week but it was too low as the chap was a bit of a chancer. One more on Thursday (but they have a much bigger budget so don’t see why they would like ours) two on Saturday

Bigoldwimp · 10/08/2020 17:59

@fluffysugden any news?
