Ahh we're on the market! Anyone else?

Well, we've had photos and floor plan done today so fingers crossed we'll be online tomorrow. We had a wide spread of valuations spanning £75k so have taken an average; hope we've not made a mistake. Anyone else in the same boat? We've found a house we love so fingers crossed we'll be in a position soon to offer. This will be our third rung of the ladder. Be great to chat through with others in the same boat.

We are moving so soon because basically DH hates it here! This is more of a AIBU type issue really, but we have agreed to go back (140 miles) to where we lived before and call it a gap year! So you can see why I'm particularly annoyed with the whole thing. This time last year we sold our previous house and found this one.

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 16/04/2019 11:35

We looked at one house and fell in love with it and then lost it as ours hadn't sold. No more viewings for us till we get an offer on ours. Repeat viewer this morning seemed to love it again, said she left on a high after the last viewing and it felt the same again. Didn't give much away as she was leaving and haven't heard anything since. Keep checking my phone isn't on silent so I don't miss a call.

Trippedupagain · 16/04/2019 11:40

It basically takes over your life, doesn't it? We have just got all prepared for a viewing this morning and they didn't turn up. All that cleaning for nothing - I could weep!

WBWIFE · 16/04/2019 11:41

@jamtart30 @Trippedupagain we moved in, in June 2018 and sold our house in January 2019.

Realised the garden was too small ha

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 16/04/2019 11:42

Oh that's awful. Have you been onto the EA? I could cry for you.

Trippedupagain · 16/04/2019 11:46

Thank you, Ron! Yes the EA was here and DH and I both went out with the dog to try and neutralise the look of the place, we thought. Trying to make it look 'young professional' instead of clapped out, quirky and old with stinky dog... Anyway the EA tried to ring the people but they had their phone off. Another viewing tomorrow and 2 at the weekend, so trying to keep positive.

Trippedupagain · 16/04/2019 11:51

WBWIFE I'm glad it's not just us that make mistakes with moves, then! Most of my friends are in awe at so much moving. We also moved in 2016 then decided to be adventurous and move further away, and before that we had been in rented for 7 months so this will be our 4th move in 4 years. So I'm probably a little more blase than most, but it doesn't get any easier.

WBWIFE · 16/04/2019 12:07

@Trippedupagain I bought my first home August 2015 and sold it January 2018. It was always a starter home and a step on the ladder, we renovated and made enough money for A better area.

Moved to better area and there is probably more crime than the previous area regarding break ins etc! Suppose they dont do it on their own doorstep Haha. And yes garden too small and overlooked which I didnt realise!

Were hoping to complete next week and really hoping this is now our forever home. It's a detached bungalow, enclosed gates and walls with large drive, garage and also a lovely garden feels like it's in the country but its not.

My friends and family are adamant we will move again in a few years but I dont think so, cant keep moving it costs too much Haha!

Trippedupagain · 16/04/2019 12:14

It is an expensive activity unless you get lucky and make some money as you go, but moving so quickly we will be very lucky if we manage to break even.

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 16/04/2019 20:23

Frustrating day. No word from our viewer who was here for the second time though she seemed to really like it. No more viewings in the pipeline either.

On a positive note the energy certificate was done today with no issues and the floor plan should be uploaded to Rightmove and Zoopla tomorrow.

Taking kids out tomorrow as it's too stressful to stay in.

Trippedupagain · 16/04/2019 21:06

Oh Ron, how disappointing for you today. Honestly, people drive you mad in this situation! I know what you mean about needing to go out tomorrow as I feel the same. Even if it's just doing some food shopping and having a coffee somewhere! I don't have DC at home any more, just stinky dog, so at least I don't have that to contend with as well. Wish I could fast forward a few months...

jamtart30 · 16/04/2019 21:16

Got a viewing tomorrow and another on Thursday. I'm so done and it's only been a week. Every day that passes makes it less likely we'll be in a position to buy our dream house. We bought our house in sept 17 and it's now on for £155k more than we bought it. Granted we've spent circa £70k on renovations but very pleased by the potential equity gain.

Trippedupagain · 16/04/2019 21:29

Good luck with the viewing tomorrow, Jamtart! We have one tomorrow as well and hoping that Easter will get all the sales moving now, so we all move along. It's the right time of year and a bit of sunshine tomorrow would be good to make everything look good!

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 17/04/2019 09:45

Good luck for viewings today. The sun is nearly shining.

Trippedupagain · 17/04/2019 10:12

The sun is shining here!

MonkeyfaceThereturn · 17/04/2019 10:14

Day 5 and still no viewings.

And our dream house sold yesterday. Just found out. Absolutely gutted.

I'm not cut out for this.

Trippedupagain · 17/04/2019 11:42

So sorry to hear that, Monkeyface, that's horrible about your dream house. I wouldn't worry too much about viewings yet, as that's very early days. Good luck with it!

WBWIFE · 17/04/2019 13:28

@MonkeyfaceThereturn

That happened to us and then a few weeks later we found our dream home! I believe everything happens for a reason

jamtart30 · 17/04/2019 15:35

So the house we love has a second viewing on it by a proceedable buyer. That's us out then.

OP posts:
Trippedupagain · 17/04/2019 15:43

Jamtart, that is bad news! Hope you sell your place soon. I'm just sitting here now, waiting for the viewing at 4.30, house is immaculately clean, tidy and sweet smelling. I daren't touch anything now or let the dog go anywhere (he loves it upstairs usually!) so I'm just wasting time on MN until they arrive. It's a lovely sunny day here, so at least the garden looks good, although I've just noticed it is about to all go into shade in about 30 minutes as it does at this time of day. Dammit!

RonBurgundyspanpipe · 17/04/2019 17:24

Hope it went well tripped.

EA has said our interested viewer is seeing another property in the next few days but she really likes our house. We also have another viewing over the weekend. Feeling more optimistic than yesterday.

Trippedupagain · 17/04/2019 18:21

Well it went well, thank you, they liked the house but who knows really? Very difficult to say. We have 2 more at the weekend and I'm starting to feel almost used to it, though it just uses up so much time it frustrates me when I could be doing other things!

mummymayhem18 · 17/04/2019 18:23

Good luck everyone trying to sell. I love moving,it's very exciting. I know it's verrrryyy stressful as well though.

Trippedupagain · 17/04/2019 18:49

Thank you, Mummymayhem! I must try and get that attitude about it being 'exciting' as it is, you're right!

Flyingsouthwiththeswallows · 17/04/2019 19:08

Trippedupagain,WBWife thank goodness it is not just me.

I have only been here 4 months but knew within weeks that the house was wrong. Typically one I would really love, in a perfect location, has come onto the market.

I just have no idea what to do. The furniture for this house won’t even be here for another 5 weeks.

How did you explain moving so soon to potential buyers? There is nothing wrong with this house but am worried they will think there is.
