Hi all, other than trying to cobble together a list of the spelling list by asking our children and other parents, does anyone know when the spelling test will be released?

Thanks

The questions at the end are often the hardest so better if they spent more time on the earlier ones. Some can get through it quickly but make mistakes. Fingers crossed! I’m hearing a lot of people complaining about the difficulty so they may lower the mark boundaries

Yeah

I'm not really worried anyway

There's nothing we can do lol and she's not the most academic. The teachers say she does everything they ask of her so what will be will be 🤷‍♀️

Mine didn't finish paper 2 or 3.
She's on the cusp of getting age expected.

So not sure if this will have helped her

Same. Mock were around 105. She just told me she didn’t get to do last question on paper 3. Paper 2 left like 5/6 questions. Mock were similar so it’s all down to how well paper 1 went. We’ll see

MereNoelle · 15/05/2025 16:49

Mine said today’s was fine, about the same as yesterday in terms of difficulty. Apparently the last question was hard but she checked when she got home and knows she got it right, so she’s happy!

starlight128 · 15/05/2025 17:02

Mine thought paper 3 was harder than paper 2

Don’t worry - several of my class finished both papers and the arithmetic paper, but will have got lots of the questions wrong! A couple of others didn’t finish but will likely get all of what they did do correct.

My child today's paper was ok apart from the last question which apparently nobody could do because it was wrong....

Not going to go into specifics obviously, but it was perfectly solvable if they have been taught the curriculum, but definitely not wrong.

My DD said half the class gave one answer and the other half gave another, but that she checked afterwards and she’s 99.9% sure her answer was right.

Munchathon · 15/05/2025 19:33

Well I for one am glad they are over and they can now focus on the fun stuff 🙌

The last question was apparently about angles. DC said it was a bit like a trick question but if you knew the technique, was fine.

Yes, my son said some would have been caught out by that one.

Yeah that’s what my daughter said.

That's exactly what they said about the English Sat two years ago. It was in newspapers about some questions being too difficult and some of the extracts too wordy.

DDs teacher helpfully told her class last Friday how previous SATs papers had made the news as they were so difficult (way to scare all the kids before the test 🙄) but DD said he used to mark SATs papers and said he felt this year’s were easier/better than previous years.

That's nice to know before the wailing and gnashing of teeth, about how bad it was this year, begins. Rather odd thing to tell the kids though.

Ablondiebutagoody · 15/05/2025 20:37

My son's analysis:
English easier than expected
Spelling quite hard
Reading harder than expected. No animal text 😔
Maths much easier than expected

Munchathon · 15/05/2025 20:50

He thought the tests were fair compared to the previous Sats papers they practiced at school.

Regardless of how well my son has done, he feels pretty confident and overall it has been a positive experience for him so I can’t ask for more than that.

Mine said overall that she thought they were on the easier side compared to all the past papers they’ve done at school. She says she’s glad they’re over, mainly so the teachers can ‘stop going on about them’ 😂

The reason the teacher probably did and said this, was to expose the children to a difficult test, and have an opportunity to say to them, ‘Don’t worry if you found it hard - it turned out every child found it hard - it was too hard, there was national outrage and the scaled scores reflected that. We can’t predict what the tests will be like, but you’re ready and it will be fine.’

Theordinaryfam · 19/05/2025 17:18

Daughter finally finished hers today !
she seems more confident with the second reasoning than the first. I do wonder how scaled scores will be this year hoping not to high a mark to get scaled score of 100 !

BeProudPlumPoet · 23/05/2025 10:48

Sats papers are out! What did you all think? I find maths and grammar was slightly harder then 2024.

Found them just been reading through
I think my daughter would of really struggled !

Theordinaryfam · 23/05/2025 11:46

last year was 35 out of 70 for spag to get 100 on the scaled score and maths 54 out of 110 !

can’t see them being much lower than that but hopefully not too much higher 🤣
