Hi all, other than trying to cobble together a list of the spelling list by asking our children and other parents, does anyone know when the spelling test will be released?

Thanks

Wow I thought if you were ill then you just didn't get to do them

I mean you could get some of the questions from other people couldn't you

Yes, in theory a child could contact another child to ask what the questions were, though most can’t remember anyway.
In school we would keep them away from the other children until they had sat the missed paper.

TeenToTwenties · 13/05/2025 08:00

iirc with SATs if you want your child to miss them they have to be off for 2 whole weeks (ie until half term), otherwise they just do them when they are back.

(I may be wrong)

I'm so confused
I really thought everyone took the exams at the same time and there was no moment on that? Cos surely otherwise children could tell other children the questions?

So no my daughter for example will be doing the 2 maths tests that everyone is taking Wednesday on Friday.

purpleme12 · 13/05/2025 08:46

Is she poorly?

Theordinaryfam · 13/05/2025 08:52

purpleme12 · 13/05/2025 08:46

Is she poorly?

She is medically complex and has a medical appointment / treatment tomorrow that couldn’t be changed

Daisydiary · 13/05/2025 12:37

I’d be interested to know too in time, once all tests have been carried out.

Hohofortherobbers · 13/05/2025 12:39

Think they get released 25th May on the gov past paper website

Munchathon · 12/05/2025 21:53

I want to know because my son has worked hard on learning certain spelling words and I wanted to know if any of these came up. He is also very good at grammar and the spelling test could have derailed his overall result. And I’m nosey. Is that a sufficient explanation for you?

It is ok for people to be interested, even if you aren’t.

Edited

But you won’t know if he got them right Confused
Let it go.

Why do you feel the need to comment and tell me to let it go?

Sorry, don’t think you are allowed to be curious on here 😂
Yes, I was a bit nervous for him this morning. I’m glad the English is now over and into the home straight with maths, which he much prefers.

Just picked my DS up. He has been greater depth in all of his reading and understanding mocks so far but he said today's was so hard. All of the kids were complaining about it after and his teacher read it and said it was the hardest one she had ever seen and even she struggled with the answers. Hope it doesn't knock all of the kids' confidence bless them x

That’s interesting, my daughter just said it was easy and she’s just glad there was no poetry!

Same with DD but I was worried this one would be hard. She’s in after school football so not had a chance to ask her about it!

That's exactly what they said about the English Sat two years ago. It was in newspapers about some questions being too difficult and some of the extracts too wordy.

Hopefully if it was hard, they will lower the boundaries like they did in 2023. The texts sounded pretty boring, although he couldn’t remember one of them. He said it was quite hard.

Daisydiary · 13/05/2025 16:05

Mine said the final text was hard but the first two were ok. They do get progressively more tricky. There’s always an uproar and the comments about the hardest paper ever start to crop up. Anyone remember the bats paper a few years back?! Just because the paper was hard, doesn’t mean the kids haven’t done well. Or that’s what I try and remember, at least!

Munchathon · 13/05/2025 16:05

In 2023 the GD boundary was 38/50 and 2024 it was 40/50.
2 marks doesn’t feel like that much of a help!

I think bats was 2023

My daughter was sent home ill yest afternoon.

Was told to try and make sure she could be in at least for the paper this morning. Otherwise she wouldn't be allowed in school for the rest of the week, and would be segregated until she had done the tests. And I told her I would take her phone so she couldn't ask her friends.

Luckily she was fine.

OFHelp · 13/05/2025 16:07

Oh yes I'm not worried about what he gets as all he can do is his best. My concern is more around it not knocking their confidence after all the hard work they've put in over the past couple of months bless them x

My son did the bat one! He was firmly in GD bracket, usually getting in the high teens and he ended up getting 115 overall. So hopefully it will work out.

Yes, annoying if the final test doesn’t reflect what they usually get. My son is just pleased to be moving onto the maths. Although he’s too busy with Minecraft now so I don’t dare ask him any questions.
