Hi there,

Just feel it's been very quiet here this year on the 7+ exams and no thread has appeared wrt to those two schools.

Anyone out there also prepping?

Thank you for this. I was struggling to understand the parameters on which they will select 54 out of 108 ( not sure buts it's a hearsay number of double the available seats at kings). It would have been helpful if they would have shared the structure and parameters (not the activity itself) for this assessment.

Candyfloss2 · 17/10/2022 11:43

Social skills?

taj0112 · 17/10/2022 14:00

Perhaps they don’t want to so parents don’t prepare the children? LEH is very much like this at 7+ and whilst I’ve got a son also trying for a school where the parameters are more vague I kinda applaud this (whilst the lazy bit of me says great we won’t work on anything!).

Naliny · 17/10/2022 15:57

@SevenPlusforFY22 have you heard that they only selected ~110 kids for the next stage? My impression is that a LOT more have been invited back… almost everyone I know that sat the written assessment has been invited back.

SevenPlusforFY22 · 17/10/2022 16:03

@Naliny I am not sure how many are invited, but from going through the last few years of threads on Mumsnet I got that understanding.

walkinpark · 17/10/2022 17:45

please be sensitive to others who were not invited back. cheers.

@SevenPlusforFY22 as far as I understood this was the first year that Kings follows this system (ie reducing numbers after the “first round” as opposed to having a full day of assessments including interviews etc), so I suppose nobody really knows by how much they cut their numbers. It’s definitely not as clear cut as St Paul’s.

Seems like it. Do you know the number for St. Paul’s?

Naliny · 18/10/2022 11:49

@Glassofmerlot I don’t know for certain but have heard from others that they reduce the number down to around 100 after the first stage. Could be completely wrong though.

ItsRainingTacos79 · 18/10/2022 15:40

For anyone interested, received confirmation from St Paul's that verbal and non verbal reasoning are age adjusted but English and Maths are not. A bit of a blow for my August born but we'll just have to try our best 😏

Candyfloss2 · 18/10/2022 16:09

i suspect my kid was low on VR . ( he is good at NVR as very visual)
also august born.
He is not behind English & math
so this is an age thing .

walkinpark · 19/10/2022 08:23

@Candyfloss2 @ItsRainingTacos79 there is still time to prepare so do not panic. at least reasoning is age-standardised. seems obvious to do it like that!!

be honest . If most boys in St. Paul are alike above. Not sure my very quiet sensitive DC will fit in.

walkinpark · 19/10/2022 09:14

there are all sorts of boys/kids in all sorts of schools...I do not think there is any 'type'...and DC will evolve and adjust and find his own space wherever he goes (I am hoping)

Catchme · 19/10/2022 21:39

@Candyfloss2 please don’t worry too much about the drama shots. There are all types of personalities in SPJ and indeed every other school.

HisfirstwordMummy · 20/10/2022 23:22

Hi everyone I just found this thread. My DS got through as well to KCS. Do not know what to expect for the assessment days. Any help would be appreciated! Good luck to everyone

Glassofmerlot · 02/11/2022 16:33

How was everyone’s assessment at King’s? My son said he had fun and they had all sorts of activities.

SevenPlusforFY22 · 03/11/2022 11:33

My DS enjoyed the activity day at KCS. Now the next step is Interview.

Fulhammom82 · 04/11/2022 17:08

Are the KCS interviews for 7+ still ongoing? Mine had his interview on Wednesday and I was under the impression that they were all done. Activity day went well.

SevenPlusforFY22 · 14/11/2022 09:32

I think the interviews for KCS happened on Wednesday and Thursday only.
Now another wait till the 23rd before they send out the offers in post.

Mumofboys25 · 15/11/2022 21:07

We’re sitting 5 schools starting with City. Super scared as english is also ds’s weak point and hyper mobile on his hands so handwriting is not so great… anyone out of the other side with words of wisdom?

poordrygarden · 16/11/2022 09:17

Interested in the timing of all these exams and schools. I only know that Hampton and RGS make offers late Nov/early Dec for acceptance by mid January.

When are the offer dates and acceptance deadlines for the London schools like Westminster, St Paul’s and Kings?

I wonder if they are all earlier so that boys who have them as a preference know if they’ve got a place before they are offered an out-of-London school?

Workaholic123 · 17/11/2022 13:36

Has anyone heard about rejections post interview coming by email from Kings for the 7+

SevenPlusforFY22 · 17/11/2022 16:42

I thought you won’t hear from them till the 23rd nov.

Fulhammom82 · 17/11/2022 18:49

I haven’t. Have you heard of any rejections from Kings via email?
