I know it’s a little later than usual but here it is! #letsdothis

In previous years I have started these threads to help and support all those involved in the independent school admissions process.

I wasn't going to start one this year as I know I would not be able to check back on it as regularly as I would like, which then defeats the purpose of the thread.

However, after numerous positive PM's about the threads I think it would be a shame not to start one where at least the hand holding can continue. 🤝

There are many many people who have been through the process and 'live to tell the tale' . There are also other tutors I know who read this thread and it would be great if you all could help and support and share your ideas

I think they take all that in to account. I know a few spring and summer born kids there.

They do - she was assessed in the first round with kids born in the same few months as has been the case with most schools

Yes apologies I meant second round for Habs boys was changed to being online.

Anyone know when St Helens plan on emailing about the second round?

Buppalo · 11/01/2022 17:29

We received a call and also email for 2nd round

anotherusernameugh · 11/01/2022 17:46

Yes same - eek!

Buppalo · 11/01/2022 18:58

Fingers crossed to us all xxx

StrawberryMom · 12/01/2022 08:29

so what have they been asking for round 2 of St Helens? Any pointers please? Some old posts suggest there was also a parents' interview, but that doesn't seem to be happening this year.

anotherusernameugh · 12/01/2022 13:30

There is a parent chat mentioned at the bottom of the second round email.

Buppalo · 12/01/2022 14:19

We have our 2nd round today and should end very soon, if I can harvest anything, I will repost again hehe

Buppalo · 12/01/2022 17:54

Pls don’t take my words, I do not know if it’s true or not? My DD said she went to the learning room, no toys but had cloud baby! (Now you start to feel!) I asked if she wrote her name again? She said no! Did you use scissors? No! Did you draw? No! Did you paint? No! Btw, my DD doesn’t know how to write her name! She said she went to the room with the boy teacher! Which is wrong as husband said she went with the lady teacher! Different ppl in our family asked her in different ways but we couldn’t get anything out of the 2nd round!

Herts56 · 13/01/2022 09:41

Does anybody know when we find out about round 2 NLCS?

WorkingmumoftW0 · 14/01/2022 11:11

Did anyone hear from Channing for second rounds yet?
@Herts56 - NLCS will let know latest by Monday 17th

@ZaphodBeeblerox Did you find anything about the second round? Mine is scheduled on Wed 19

Nightowl21 · 16/01/2022 22:39

Can someone please post the name or link of the preparation book mentioned in the thread above? I would be keen to take a look as my DD will be sitting for 4+ next year? Thank you!

ZaphodBeeblerox · 17/01/2022 11:41

@Anca123456 I believe it’s a bit more of the same. The letter also says to wear comfortable clothes and shoes they can move in so perhaps some physical activity or outdoor play as well?

FunnyBear · 17/01/2022 13:35

In a class of 20 at these schools, generally speaking, what % of the offers are made to siblings?

anotherusernameugh · 17/01/2022 14:28

I'd also like to know that - and do kids of alumni get preference?

gwchmum · 17/01/2022 14:52

In my daughters class of 20 at nlcs , there are 6 siblings (don't know if there is a preference for alumni kids but there are a couple). The number varies a fair bit yoy

anotherusernameugh · 17/01/2022 16:28

6 siblings in one class?!! Not even across a whole year?

ZaphodBeeblerox · 17/01/2022 17:30

NLCS afaik doesn’t have a formal sibling policy even. Since I know a couple of younger siblings who didn’t get through the assessments despite having older sisters there (and said siblings did get through other indies in NW london so not a question of just not ready for school etc).

LondonGirl83 · 17/01/2022 17:43

@FunnyBear about 5 out of 20. That’s with no sibling policy and I know more siblings didn’t get in than did.
