Anyone nervous for primary school admission results?

State primary admission results are.out this week. We have to wait for a letter, how retro, as we did a paper application for a deferred Reception start (DD is 5 in July, some minor additional needs). Really really hope we get a place at the friendly local school a 5 minute walk away! Anyone else waiting and want to chew their nails with me?

Me! I'm in the north east. DS big sister is in a school that is only just out of catchment so we are crossing fingers toes and anything else he gets in too!!

DumbleDork · 15/04/2019 18:23

I’m under Dorset Smile
Good luck to you too. I don’t remember it being this stressful with my DS application; he’s about to start seniors but his primary school you just got given catchment and that was it, though we had a much better catchment school then

Minimonkeysmum · 15/04/2019 18:24

So anxious! We've applied for the nearest school, under 0.1m away, but it's a church school and we don't attend (moved too late to do anything) - but we'd have been fine every year up til now. We were told by someone letters were being sent out two weeks ago, but we haven't had anything, so assume we've not got in & we'll end up miles away with no childcare. 😬

Tolleshunt · 15/04/2019 19:01

We don't hear until tomorrow evening, when they will send an email. Bloody nerve-wracking!

PodgeBod · 15/04/2019 19:20

I'm also in Essex. Feeling nervous but hopefully no reason to be, we live very very close to the school and it isn't oversubscribed but it is the only one we visited and I have my heart set on it.

OutnumberedByFurchesters · 15/04/2019 19:40

Another nervous wait here... We should get into first choice as we can see it from our bedroom window, and it's a radial distance of 0.3miles... But that feels like I'm tempting fate.

Emails to be sent "during working hours, so don't wait up" and also "in batches, during the morning of 16th, after which the online system will be updated"

Batches of what?! Name? School?

Also I've been unable to find past admissions data for the school or any schools in my area.. Annoying!

cadburyegg · 15/04/2019 19:50

We are under Cambridgeshire and opted to receive notification via email, anyone know what time the offers will be published online or when the emails are sent out? Council website just says 16 April... nervous doesn’t describe it!

HexagonalBattenburg · 15/04/2019 19:59

I have the first of mine transferring to juniors (they're at an amazing little infants so we have to apply and wait till tomorrow) we're out of catchment but it will be hell for dd1 if she doesn't go up with her friends, plus our local school is dreadful (we gave it a fair shot and transferred out of there after reception in despair of how bad a fit it was for us) so, although the current year group numbers are in our favour, nothing is certain until the offer is in our hands.

ThisIsTheEndgame · 15/04/2019 20:31

@cadburyegg I think my Cambs friends found out on the portal just after midnight last year.

I only put down one choice... felt like s good idea at the time. Nervous now

AntheaTrifid · 15/04/2019 20:55

I found out on the Essex portal just after midnight a few years ago. Hoping for the same again this time round

SchrodingersBrexit · 15/04/2019 20:59

Does anyone know if we get offered places to more than one school, if we applied for 3, or is it done in order of preference? As in if DD didn't get into her first choice, she will be given her second?

ThisIsTheEndgame · 15/04/2019 21:08

They will give you a place at the school highest on your list that you are accepted by. Does that make sense?

OP posts:
SchrodingersBrexit · 15/04/2019 21:28

So essentially just one offer?

I was in a bit of a rush making the application and I think I prefer my third choice to my second now.

cadburyegg · 15/04/2019 21:58

@ThisIsTheEndgame thank you, I won’t purposely wait up til midnight but I will check when I can!

@SchrodingersBrexit yes assuming you applied through the council you will just get one offer. If your dd is successful in getting your first choice she will not be considered for the second, etc.

SingerNamedElephant · 15/04/2019 22:21

SchrodingersBrexit I believe you can go on the waiting list for other schools, so you could always go on the list for your 3rd choice

Bugsymalonemumof2 · 15/04/2019 22:29

I'm getting so nervous! Currently planning to home educate because in my head we have been allocated an horrendous school 100 miles away 😂

cheesenpickles · 15/04/2019 22:29

Another Hampshire here, though come under a smaller city council system.

I'm chewing my nails to see if she gets out first choice. It's closest, one of the best schools in the city and would make dropping our other dc off a doddle in the mornings. Second choice is lovely but in opposite direction of nursery so will be a bit of a logistical nightmare.

Tempted to stay up refreshing my emails.

cheesenpickles · 15/04/2019 22:31

@Bugsymalonemumof2 I put down 5 of 6 and on my head I'm convinced there's no places in those and they allocated us a school on the other side of the city that we'll hate.

Over the road last said she opted for our first school as hers but her dc didn't get in and she cried for hours but it's all ok now. Strangely despite living directly opposite us they're not in the catchment and we are.

SingerNamedElephant · 15/04/2019 22:31

I keep refreshing my emails, I feel sick now.

DD blissfully unaware and fast asleep. It'll be the talk of Nursery tomorrow as well (private day nursery)

SingerNamedElephant · 15/04/2019 22:33

I only got 3 choices, I don't want 2 or 3 though. And I'm terrified I'll get none of them and they'll give me the school on the opposite side of town which can't meet her SN needs (they're mostly physical and they're across 3 levels) and I'm terrified as that's the school ExH wants her to go to so if we get it I'm stuck Sad

cheesenpickles · 15/04/2019 22:38

Oh god that sounds like a nightmare. Sad

I honestly never realised I'd feel this stressed about it. She's been told she's got to wear glasses today, was an absolute trooper during all the appointments today and got super upset about it afterwards. Her best friend is going to our first choice (not why we picked it obviously) as a sibling so I don't want another thing for her to be upset about right now. Though second choice has its own pool, so not all bad.

SingerNamedElephant · 15/04/2019 22:52

cheesenpickles Oh no hope you're DD is feeling better tomorrow, they're so resilient though.

Hope you get the school you want.

Just over an hour for me to wait. Keep refreshing my emails, what for, I don't know.

cheesenpickles · 15/04/2019 22:56

@SingerNamedElephant thanks. I should def be sleeping but I just keep refreshing Confused

DumbleDork · 15/04/2019 22:58

I’m working very early tomorrow morning and can’t have my phone on me. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to take my break around half 9 to check emails (that’s when Dorset send them)
