We got our results today, still trying to decipher raw/scaled score. DD got EXS for everything, which is great, but it's very hard not knowing what she would have got on the old system!

Out of interest, if a child scores 120, does it mean that they have answered every question correctly on that paper or could they still achieve 120 while getting, say, 2 questions wrong?

Feenie · 08/07/2016 12:45

You could get 44/50 and upwards in the reading test and still get 120.

Depends on the test. My dd got 45 out of 50 on the reading but got a scaled score of 120 despite not even finishing the paper. However, she got 107 out of 110 in the maths and the scaled score was 116.

I haven't bad my DDs yet and quite worried she won't have got the 100 in maths. How many marks do they need to get to achieve the standard in maths?!

user789653241 · 08/07/2016 14:00

Peacefully, there's link up thread by mrz.
Looks like 60/110 for maths, 21/50 for reading and 43/70 for GPS to get 100.

TeenAndTween · 08/07/2016 15:50

Delighted by my DD's results. Grin Grin 100, 96, and 97.
Better than I anticipated. Smile

State bloody secret at our school!
Will get when reports come out next Thursday.
Made to feel unreasonable if you ask.
I did ask and wish I hadn't as now labelled as 'that' sort of parent.
Blush.

soyvanillalatte · 08/07/2016 16:20

mine just got 111, 115, 115. I am slightly disappointed. Yes, I am one of THOSE parents. (I don't tell him that of course!! I just wonder where the other marks went.

Really wish I hadn't asked.
Was made to feel very unreasonable....
Actually found myself apologising for asking!!

soyvanillalatte · 08/07/2016 16:26

I know, I am ashamed (seriously).

Banana99 · 08/07/2016 16:28

This is a really useful thread. I got DDs yesterday but we only got the 3 letters (would have loved to see the numbers)

DD got DBS for reading and the teacher was raving about it - I think j might be even more proud now

116 spag
112 reading
105 maths

Im over the moon for her as she was worried bless her.

redsky21 · 08/07/2016 21:22

Banana what's DBS? We don't have that code on ours.

Banana99 · 08/07/2016 21:33

Sorry GDS! (Guess who got an updated DBS in the post this morning! Confused)

ineedaholidaynow · 08/07/2016 21:34

We've just DS's results. We were given the SATS results and the teacher assessment results. I understand the SATS results and teacher assessment for writing. But how does the teacher assessment work for Reading, Maths and Science? DS is very good at maths and has consistently been working at greater depth and exceeding (however it has been graded in the past). But in the teacher assessment it shows EXS. It this because they can't show GDS in anything but writing, or does it mean DS has suddenly dipped in Maths?

spanieleyes · 08/07/2016 21:44

It means that the test will only measure not met and met the expected standard whereas teachers can actually assess what a child can do!

Mov1ngOn · 08/07/2016 21:47

I was going to ask similar. My daughter was son a "gifted and talented" day earlier in the year for maths but has been marked expected.

Also how are they exceeding in science and art...?

She did really well I think in reading/writing but I thought her maths was better than her English. This suggests otherwise.

We haven't been given the marks. I made a big thing of how I disapproved of the sats so don't think I can now ask....

It does seem odd though. What percentage got exceeding at maths? At everything?

ineedaholidaynow · 08/07/2016 22:08

Mov1ng DS was in a maths competition the other week and only the top 4 in maths in the school were able to go (and they won) and he got over 90% in Maths SATS, so I would assume he would be GDS. The teacher is also always going on about his maths ability, it just doesn't make sense.

Mov1ngOn · 08/07/2016 22:13

Thanks I need. I dont feel as worried. I had assumed she would in maths. I dont know her score though.

Does that mean v few did?

Is it entirely pointless....

colouringinagain · 08/07/2016 22:21

My understanding is that this year's levels are much tougher than previous ones - more akin to the levels previously expected at the end of yr 7. And that's one of the reasons why only approx half of kids have met them this year (prev around two thirds).

Mov1ngOn · 08/07/2016 22:27

So simply meeting all 3 targets could be equivalent to exceeding in previous years.

I know I'm going to have mums uoset their child isn't meeting standards tomorrow (low income/low everything demographic) and feel their child isn't good enough :(

colouringinagain · 08/07/2016 22:32

Yes Moving on that's right.

And children who haven't met the required levels this year may well have done last year.

These tests have been v badly designed, so much so that the pass mark for the reading test is 21 out of 50...
