Thread 12!

I can't seem to carry over the clicky links in the OP of the last thread. Can anyone else?

If I type “if”, it usually means “of”

Except the first word of this post. That’s supposed to be “if”

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 12:49

@itsnotjustflu

He deteriorated a few days ago, I told him to get retested because false negatives are common. He poo poohed it, but yesterday lost his breath so called the clinic he’d been tested at, to help told HE WASNT ACTUALLY TESTED FOR COVID19 AT ALL

It was a private clinic which I didn’t initially know until this morning.

Unbelievable

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 12:51

The private clinic took blood and urine, but only tested it for oxygen, white blood cells etc, not Covid19- the private clinic are now saying they aren’t allowed to test for it

Totally incompetent - they should have not taken his money and sent him to the nhs

Sounds like they just fleeced him. Dangerously

DysonFury · 10/03/2020 12:51

A question for the more advanced level preppers than me, how the bejeezus do you manage not to truffle down all the treat food in a week flat? I aren't stockpile booze as it'd be a week long party then nothing. Is self control the most important part of prepping?

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 12:53

Poor dog wants cuddles but I’m using my foot to keep her at legs length

How long do we think it could survive in her fur?

itsnotjustflu · 10/03/2020 13:01

Oh my gosh @natopmt taking advantage for sure. They need to be reported somehow. He needs to ring 111. Aw bless your dog. Spray again and then cuddle.....can you give them a soapy bath?

@dysonfury - my DH is working his way through the treats at a great rate of knots....he has no reserve.

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 13:05

@NatoPMT I was going to suggest giving the dog a bath or shower too, wear gloves while you do if you can.
Not sure on the baby - info I've seen has been promising where it's been found in infants, but I also believe that should be taken with a pinch of salt as we aren't in a position to understand long term effects yet.

I'm angry with your friend and his gf but then feel sorry for him at the same time - if he's only been told yesterday that they didn't even test for Covid-19 then I guess as far as he knew, he wasn't putting anyone in danger!

Mrsemcgregor · 10/03/2020 13:07

This may be outing but I’ve gone beyond caring. I live in Cheltenham and walk past the railway station 4 time’s a day.

Watching the hundreds and hundreds of people streaming out of the station and into taxis and buses and shops and pubs and cafes and restaurants. This will go on for 4 whole days. I can’t get my head around the risk. I’m spinning out a bit to be honest.

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 13:10

@mrsemcgregor this is what is causing me stress too. Public transport. I have to get the train to and from work from one small-ish city to a capital city every day. Asked if I could work from home (capability is there) as am also pregnant so it is stressing me out. Manager/HR told me basically to suck it up and continue coming into the office. A lot of the blokes on my team are raging for me and have said as much to our manager, but it's made no difference.

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 13:11

@mrsemcgregor just realised you are on about the races though. Can't believe things like that haven't been cancelled yet Angry

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 13:12

I’ve just remembered I saw a photo of a drive through testing pod outside our local hospital on a guardian article so they are calling that hospital now

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 13:13

The dog is scared of water and has had an operation on her leg, if she scrambles in the bath she will injure it 😭😭

Mrsemcgregor · 10/03/2020 13:14

rhij86 oh yes I should have mentioned the races! I forget that not everyone is in the crazy “festival bible” for the next few days!

It feels like our town has been handed up for slaughter. Everyone will leave on Friday and we will be left with the consequences. We already have a community transmitted case in the town. This is not what we need!!!!

Mrsemcgregor · 10/03/2020 13:15

*bubble not bible!!

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 13:18

@NatoPMT hmm not sure what to suggest then, poor pup (and poor you!)

@mrsemcgregor I really hope things don't turn out as badly as expected :(

wheresmymojo · 10/03/2020 13:19

Confirmed case in the next village to me now...

rhij86 I do have a tendency to catastrophise anyway so I’m hoping that is what this is! I really hope your work see sense soon and let you work from home.

preponderings · 10/03/2020 13:24

@NatoPMT is wiping a dog with wipes really ok? What if s/he licks the fur? Wouldn't you be better with a wet towel and whatever you usually clean a dog with (no clue!).

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 13:24

@mrsemcgregor the response I got was that there was nothing to suggest pregnant women were more at risk from catching the illness (I explained I know this, my worry is that compared to a healthy woman of the same age I am more likely to have a heightened reaction to a fever for example) and that the govt were not yet recommending people work from home.

Until one or both of these things changes, I am to continue coming to the office as normal.

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 13:24

Collar in sink disinfecting - I covered 2 co-op wipes in dettol spray and given her a good rub down

I’m freaking out a bit

Maybe it would be best to catch it now anyway but I don’t want to be that ill

Feeling a bit sick

rhij86 · 10/03/2020 13:25

@wheresmymojo Sad

preponderings · 10/03/2020 13:25

Big signs on the buses today asking you to help protect the elderly and to keep your distance from them!

NatoPMT · 10/03/2020 13:26

@preponderings - she’s got scoliosis as well, she can’t even lick her own bum which is handy. She’s quite badly disabled the poor baby

It can’t be good for her but I have to take that risk

MinesaPinotPlease · 10/03/2020 13:27

My work has told all pregnant staff to work from home now. They are a large employer and I believe have medical experts advising them.

The problem with the gov is they don’t seem to be proving useful info to anyone except wash your hands.

FuckThisWind · 10/03/2020 13:31

Looking at the news showing the Cheltenham festival goers, I'm thinking fucking hell, that's a virus' dream! Angry

We have a confirmed case in the village next to me too. All we know is it's a local resident. Nothing else.
