Medical abortion fear

I took my first tablet yesterday and due to take my next lot tomorrow. I’m so scared, I’ve read so many posts and terrified myself into their being issues or it not working.
im 5 weeks. I’m a nurse so I feel like I’m very aware of the medical side and what can go wrong :(

@MrsCristiano they sent codeine but no anti sickness, I was a bit worried by that and I even called the helpline this morning to ask if I needed to get any anti sickness for the first pill. Would you reccomend?
I'm really doing a grand job right now of not thinking about tomorrow and other than making sure I have things ready, water and something to watch, I'm trying to avoid thinking about what I will go through.
I'm getting a bit worried again as I'm going to be home alone....deep breaths.

MrsCristiano · 13/08/2022 21:50

@Berry888 the first tablet never had any effect on me. The second set of tablets I used cyclizine (anti sickness) and codeine. The misoprostol did make me feel a little sick and shivery and they helped xx

MrsCristiano · 13/08/2022 21:52

@Berry888 don't worry honestly I could have done without them. Not the codeine though. You'll be grand and we are a message away xx

brownbeauty80 · 14/08/2022 06:59

Good Morning
I've just remembered I had one bout of terrible diarrhoea around 3 hours after taking the second set.. keep hydrated..
As @MrsCristiano said... we r only a msg away...

😘

Berry888 · 14/08/2022 09:45

@MrsCristiano @brownbeauty80
Thank you both. I'll eat something bland this morning before I start. Woke up feeling sick today, think that might be the heat though x

Berry888 · 14/08/2022 14:06

So inserted the main medication just over 30 mins ago. Some slight movement but nothing significant yet. I'm not feeling so terrified anymore but perhaps that's the codeine! Hopefully it'll be passed by the time I go to bed.

MrsCristiano · 14/08/2022 14:13

@Berry888 hopefully 🤞🤞 keep moving about as long as you can. Mine was 6 weeks so it was only blood and clots. I was scared what I would see. But nothing bad xx

Berry888 · 14/08/2022 14:24

@MrsCristiano I will do. My cousin, bless her is on her way over to keep me company. She'll be able to take my mind off things. I'll get up then and have a lap of the house.

She actually laughed at me when I told her which was strangely exactly the reaction I needed!

Berry888 · 14/08/2022 17:35

So it seems I got myself all stressed out for no reason. Started spotting very lightly about an hour afterwards, went to the toilet and sorry tmi but I think I passed it, felt it coming out. Felt very relieved, no pain so far, slight ache but nothing substantial. Have taken a single dose of codeine before the first tabs and before taking the second lot just now. I've not been sick, no shakes, no upset stomach, but that might change after the second lot kicks in, we'll see 🤞

brownbeauty80 · 14/08/2022 18:59

Glad to hear u have company with u...
Stay as active as possible n try not to think about it too much..
after the first day of heavy bleeding I was in the mindset of 'it's just a bad period'...
u will soon feel all the hormones settle and u will feel lighter n fresher both physically and mentally...

@brownbeauty80 I'm already feeling much better, my boobs have stopped hurting too which is a relief. I'm still passing quite a bit, not a lot of pain though. Hoping that it's mostly over now so I can have a good nights sleep.

MrsCristiano · 15/08/2022 07:43

Glad yesterday went well xx

brownbeauty80 · 15/08/2022 10:41

Berry888 · 15/08/2022 12:29

@brownbeauty80 Hi, I'm doing as well as I can be, I was a bit worried about going to sleep but was exhausted so didn't take much to nod off. Woke up, still no pain and still bleeding a little when I go to the toilet after I've moved around a bit. Trying to be active but not overdo it, I definitely need to replenish my body over the next week and be kind to myself. Just the anxious wait for the test now.
Thank you for all your support 💐

MrsCristiano · 15/08/2022 13:04

@Berry888 ❤️ it's not an easy decision. I know this. The adrenaline helped you get through yesterday but now rest up and be kind to yourself xx

pepsi12345 · 15/08/2022 15:51

How are you all doing? I’ve just taken the mifepristone now, ahead of taking misoprostol on Wednesday morning. Feeling nervous but just want it done now

Berry888 · 15/08/2022 17:41

@pepsi12345 I'm good thank you. I found this thread really eased my mind so hope it helps you too.

I can completely relate to how you're feeling. I got myself in quite a state before even taking the mifepristone.
I did a bit of chanting to myself, told myself I am going to be fine, I'm going to be safe, I am looked after, and reminded myself child labour is more risky.

I think the codeine must've helped me as I felt no pain whatsoever, i only had half the prescribed dose and kept topped up with ibuprofen. Moving around taking my mind off it must've helped too.

I got lucozade, drank lots of water and some sweets to keep my sugar up. I found I had more bleeding when I got up after being sat down for a while. I ate lots of Grapes yesterday too...not sure if that helped at all. I'm going to get myself some raspberry leaf tea as I've read this helps shrink and clear out the uterus.
Wishing you a smooth journey 💐 and take it easy on yourself. Please feel free to message me if you need to.

pepsi12345 · 16/08/2022 06:28

@Berry888 oh I’m so pleased you are doing well. It’s really helpful to hear “good” experiences (if you know what I mean..!). I am 5 weeks tomorrow so around the same gestation as you I think.

I got a little teary taking the first tablet but I’m so glad I have. I’d started to feel sick over the weekend (maybe just the heat) but I just want my body to feel like mine again.

I’m feeling really nervous about tomorrow but trying to book something nice in for Friday evening to give myself a break and some selfcare.

Berry888 · 16/08/2022 09:10

@pepsi12345 How have you felt after taking the first tablet?
I was reading some interesting things last night about ancient civilisations abortions, it was even ordered in some civilisations for population control. I realised women have been doing this for millenia. That comforted me so much.
I think moving around is what really helped me.
Make sure you have everything you need and try to relax 💐

pepsi12345 · 16/08/2022 09:39

hi @Berry888. Physically I feel absolutely fine from the mifepristone. I’m nervous about taking the misoprostol tomorrow though. I’m trying to just stay calm.

Thank you. I will take a look at that. I think emotionally I’m on the right side of okay. I know this is the right choice for me. My situation is quite complex and I couldn’t reasonably bring a baby into it. My only real regret is getting myself in this position in the first place.

I think I’m perhaps more mourning something that could have been. This is my first pregnancy, I expected it to be much happier and exciting. I also stupidly did a due date calculator and would’ve been due on my Mum’s birthday which made me a little teary.

Overall I’m confident this is what’s best for me. And I’m thankful I live in a country where it is so easy to access. But there’s still a little twinge of sadness.

Aahhhhhhhh · 16/08/2022 10:17

Can I ask, how long after a phone consultation did you receive your pills? I’ve been waiting a week just for a call back, they say they are busy. I’m suffering really badly with sickness. Longest week ever.

Berry888 · 16/08/2022 10:38

@pepsi12345
Bless you, it sounds like you have resolved yourself to letting go. I know that feeling, it'll come in waves, all of your emotions are valid. But don't let the fear take over...positive visualisations and affirmations are always worth a go, and deep breathing 💐.
I've read motherwort is very good for helping during the process of termination.

@Aahhhhhhhh I went through Bpas, had my tel consultation 3 days later, then kit usually comes next day.

Aahhhhhhhh · 16/08/2022 10:47

@berry888 it seems like the Bpas here is closed. I’m in Glasgow so had to call
Sandyford clinic. I’m going to give them till after lunch and I’m going to call them again. I called yesterday and they said I’ve just to wait.

pepsi12345 · 16/08/2022 15:41

Thank you @Berry888. I’m trying to keep myself resolute and be strong!

Lucie390 · 16/08/2022 16:35

i have my tablets arriving tomorrow and I’m beyond frightened. I suffer with extremely painful periods and have fainted and been sick many times with period pain. I’m hoping this means it’ll be a walk in the park or possibly even worse as my painful periods are down to adhesions and endometriosis.

I can’t get a surgical app for 2weeks and can’t put up with the sickness u til then. I have 2 kids 13 and 16. I’m dreading taking the tablets, I just want to cry all the time. My husband will be supporting me but that’s little help when in pain.
