AIBU for expecting a surgical abortion?

Due to this virus I will have to terminate my pregnancy at home. This scares me because I don’t want the whole process and flushing everything down the toilet, plus bleeding for weeks. 3/100 don’t fully terminate.

Apologies if you are struggling to get pregnant. Everyone’s lives are different.

George, I've no advice or wisdom to offer. I just want you to know that I wish you well and hope that you can get the help you both want and need.
Take care of yourself sweetheart.
@jessstan1 I’ve read horrific side affects. Plenty of people on here have said it’s terrible. I choose not to go though with it.
I'm glad you've been given the surgical option. It will soon be all over. Good luck. Flowers

They’re sending you home in a taxi? That’s against all best practice guidance.

Georgeoftheinternet · 24/10/2020 10:17

@CherryPavlova isn’t not public transport.

@MartiniDry thanks. I went for a scan this morning and was told just before that the machine had broke. Wow. I’ve got the worst luck.

No you haven't, George, you've been told you can have a surgical and that is positive.

EmeraldShamrock · 24/10/2020 10:59

movingonup20 you mean to write... you were comfortable to have a termination with just local
How do you know this OP? Sometimes there isn't a choice it isn't a case of comfort. Plenty of Irish women including myself are on a time frame to catch the boat or plane home, no time for sedation, no extra money for overnight accommodation after the £1200 it cost to travel pay Marie Stopes.
I wish you well though you've been angry if others make assumptions about you.
There is understanding on both sides.

raspberrymuffin · 24/10/2020 11:11

OP I've skipped the middle bits of this thread but wanted to say I'm so glad you're able to get the procedure you need, and I'm sorry you've had to read the shitty comments on here from people who don't have a clue about bipolar but still feel the need to voice their opinions about it. Flowers

I will tidy up what you meant to have written.... It is possible to have a termination with the pills or without sedation. Many women without the choice have had to do it. If your preference is to have the procedure with sedation, I hope you can find a provider.

I’m not Irish. I haven’t voted for your government. I haven’t chosen to have a medical procedure in a different county. I don’t pay Irish taxes. I don’t live in Ireland. Other people have it worse than others and others have it better than others.

I’m only going to care and seek what is most beneficial for me with the resources available to me.

Georgeoftheinternet The guidance for all providers is accompanied by an adult using private transport. They should not be offering TOP as day case without someone being available to support you post procedure. Particularly for a surgical TOP. I’m very surprised they’ve agreed to that. It’s negligent because of risk of haemorrhage or vasovagal in unsafe setting added to impaired reactions due to sedation.

Georgeoftheinternet · 26/10/2020 19:18

Thanks but I don’t really don’t care and I’m thankful they offer it.

hopw it goes ok they wouldnt lt me in a taxi without someone but i guess if you have noone theres nothing they can do

Georgeoftheinternet · 26/10/2020 20:43

@GabsAlot yes i don’t have people to pick me up from the hospital so I think because you aren’t under for long and you can stay at the clinic a while, that they mitigate the risk. I don’t know.

@Georgeoftheinternet I’ve had both kinds, surgical and medical, feel free to pm me.

You could just wait until your past limit for medical. Then request abortion. Then there is only one choice.

You have lots of choices, do which ever will make you most comfortable.

Hope all goes well for you and glad you got the option that you wanted.

Just to prepare you for afterwards. As a midwife who works in early pregnancy and deals with a lot of surgical procedures, I have never in 9 years of being a midwife known anyone not bleed following a surgical EVAC.

I’ve had two friends who did bleed...
