Hi septsapp.

I just had one a medical abortion on Friday. Had my consultation on wednesday where they scanned me to confirm and date the pregnancy. They spoke about the different options available and asked why i wanted to end it. They had me take swabs of my nose, throat, groin and nether regions to test for MRSA and STIs and took blood to check blood group and to test for anaemia. They also explained possible risks.

Given an appointment for Friday. Arrived at 9am and was given 1st tablet to take orally and was asked to return an hour later. This was to ensure i wasnt sick. After returning i was given 4 pessaries to insert myself and then was able to go home.

By 10.30am i started cramping so took some Codeine that was given to me by the hospital and took at regular intervals, topped up by paracetamol and ibuprofen. Pain very manageable bit still noticeable.

Started bleeding lightly at around 2.30 and the bleeding got heavier. Havent filled a sanitary pad yet and havent passed any clots either. Blood just coming out when sat on the toilet really. By mid evening, pain was gone and bleeding still the same. Saturday, no pain and still the same bleeding, mainly when im on the loo. Again today, bleeding still the same and no clots. Mild cramp today which ive not needed painkillers for and physically i feel fine.

I was around 6 weeks according to ultrasound and 6 weeks 6 days from my last LMP on the day of the abortion.

Hope everything goes smoothly for you x

Hi , thank you for replying and sharing your story , I am due to go on Tuesday I've been keeping busy trying not to think about it so far, how are you now ? Did you have to take a second pill also? Hope all is ok with you x

Hi.

In regards to the the second pills, these were taken on the same day. 1 tablet of mifeprisone to take orally and an hour later x4 mistoprostol pessaries. That's all I've had and not had to take any others.

My bleeding stopped around day 9 post abortion and have not had any more pain since. I didn't see anything identifiable pass. Mostly just blood.

I'm not going to lie and say I've been completely fine. Physically I'm feeling fine and all pregnancy symptoms disappeared within a day however I've been racked with guilt and feeling really down and have questioned my decision to have a termination but I'm feeling a little better emotionally and it's been nearly 2 weeks since. Could still be the hormones i guess.

I hope all goes well xx

Hey,

Thanks so much for sharing your abortion story, I’m not too sure if you’ll see this but I had a medical abortion a few days ago and took the second lot of tablets at home. My experience sounds extremely similar to yours in I didn’t really pass any clots just thick blood when sat on the toilet and then medium-light bleeding since (It has now been 2 days since). I was just wondering if everything was okay at your checkup appointment and there was no stuck tissue etc as I thought I would pass a lot more clots than I have. I was also just under 6 weeks so thought this could be a reason why the bleeding wasn’t as heavy. Hope everything is well with you :))

septsapp · 20/03/2020 08:46

Hi , I had clots while sat on the loo but just regular bleeding after I am still spotting now , and I did the test they gave me and it had a faint line , my awful sickness etc disappeared when I started the bleeding so I thought was gone but was just worried about the faint line , so I went back for a check couple days ago they said is all passed ok , I had no pain at all so I was really worried as I'd read everyone else say how painful it was , I have also done preg tests and they say still pregnant so obviously the hormones just stayed in my body , if your worried just cal them back they will check you over , my scan was internal and didn't hurt at all was back out after 5 minutes . I am ok mentally as I have since split with bf and I had a lucky escape I'd be in a mess now if I'd kept baby , but it was upsetting the decision at start , how are you doing mentally xx

Hi everyone

I have 2 children after IVF and fell pregnant 6 weeks after my son was born NATURALLY. I feel terrible however I know Iv made the right decision as I work full time and my son is quite poorly.

Due to the virus the only way your able to have an abortion at the moment is via the pill

I was petrified I took the first pill yesturday. And the next set today! About an hour ago.

So far I’m okay. Iv heard the negative reviews are from anti abortion groups. Stay clear!!!

I scared the crap out of myself even this morning I was worried about it all just because of google...

Il keep everyone updated

But THANK YOU to all the girls that share as positive experiances as it can be! You shed light at dark times. I hope I can do the same shortly...

gisogiso · 20/03/2020 10:56

You’ll be fine , mine took about 5 hours to work then it wasn’t too bad , no pain just sit on the loo when you feel a bit of a gush coming , don’t feel guilty these things happen and your baby is more important at the moment xx

lilbie20189 · 20/03/2020 11:02

I’m really paranoid gisogiso about the bed etc did you read the bad stories? Xx

lilbie20189 · 20/03/2020 11:05

Ps I need to take 2 more if Iv has no bleeding in 4 hours

Lolasmith7 · 20/03/2020 11:31

@septsapp thanks for replying, I phoned the clinic on the day and they said as long as I’m bleeding it shouldn’t be a problem and to give it until at least Monday before I phone back, if I’m still concerned then they will try fit me in for a scan. I’ve read a few stories online and I’m feeling a bit more at ease knowing that not everyone had a huge amount of blood etc

Lolasmith7 · 20/03/2020 11:34

I read all the bad stories online and was petrified but honestly I get really bad period cramps and they were just the same as the worst of those - not the best but 100% manageable. I hope you’re doing okay and if you have any other questions I’ll try check in here a few times today to answer them as I know that really would have helped to calm me down a few days ago when I was going through it. I also took the pills at home due to the virus situation.

Lolasmith7 · 20/03/2020 11:41

@gisogiso if you don’t mind me asking, did you get a lot of bleeding ?

lilbie20189 · 20/03/2020 11:41

Where you sick or anything ? Xx

Lolasmith7 · 20/03/2020 11:43

I was sick but I think that was partly my fault as I didn’t eat anything before I took all the medication plus painkillers and it was only a few times, again I’ve been sick on my period with cramp so it wasn’t uncommon for me xx

septsapp · 20/03/2020 11:55

I had about 3 hours of heavy bleeding then it just tapered off to a light period , I read some awful stories and convinced myself it would be bad but it was just fine not even a period pain , I wasn't sick no , my preg symptoms were really bad before that felt so awful I couldn't get out of bed so that was a relief when I bled , I didn't see anything apart from blood and some clots xx

OP posts:
Lolasmith7 · 20/03/2020 12:00

@septsapp thanks for replying :) I did the exact same with all the stories, I’m still bleeding medium- light just now so I’ll just see how the next few days are

lilbie20189 · 20/03/2020 12:21

I’m scared to get up from laying down

septsapp · 20/03/2020 12:28

Oh I also used the tena lady style knickers ! Like a huge nappy and no leaks at all although very ugly lol ! They are a lifesaver , also lay on a towel and keep a small towel to take between your legs when you go to the loo and try go every ten mins xx

OP posts:
Lolasmith7 · 20/03/2020 12:32

You’ll be absolutely fine, I just got up when I felt I needed to but spent most of the day lying down :)

lilbie20189 · 20/03/2020 13:07

I’m not having any bleeding yet just pains

septsapp · 20/03/2020 13:26

I read pains usually came before the bleeding although obv didn't happen for me , have you got some painkillers and a hot water bottle ? X

OP posts:
Lolasmith7 · 20/03/2020 13:48

I definitely had cramps before I started to bleed, I took 2 cocodamol which helped and kept filling up my hot water bottle. The bleeding started off light for me and gradually got heavier over the next few hours xx
