McDonalds for dinner! or as my DS says 'Donalds!'

Well theres no point starting a diet now is there? im only getting fatter every day anyhow so whats a few extra chips going to do?! Grin

DillyDora · 06/08/2010 16:50

I've had such a craving for take out burgers ever since I've been pg - why does my LO want such things, eh? Can't he just want fruit and veg? Wink Leftovers for me tonight - veggie bolognese and... I think it's rice...o well, close enough to pasta, eh?

Actually speaking of cravings, although I don't really have any odd ones, is anyone else developing a real sweet tooth?

Jacksmybaby · 06/08/2010 18:03

Dilly - re sweet tooth, I was never into sweet things at all before I was pg with DS... liked chocolate etc but not crazy about it... but developed a sweet tooth in my 1st pg which has never disappeared since! Confused

babyb good on you for sticking up for yummy!

Happy weekend everyone Smile.

bumpno1 · 06/08/2010 22:23

Hey guys, I'm new to mumsnet, just wondering who is due around the same time. I'm October 11th, first timer and haven't found out the sex, want a surprise! Grin

Hope you are all feeling well x

Jacksmybaby · 07/08/2010 08:51

Welcome bumpno1 Smile. I am due 14th Oct but have ELCS booked for 6th. I think there are a few of us due in that week. How have you been feeling?

YummyMummy1208 · 07/08/2010 09:43

Morning, Welcome bumpno1, im jealous - have to wait all the way till the 25th for my due date. Sad Altho we know what were having, a baby girl which will compliment our 2 yr old boy nicely. Smile

how r u managing pregnancy?

I was looking forward to a break today - MIL said if weather was nice she would take DS1 to Lake Vyrnwy but as usual, weather is crap so looks like my few hours of peace has been snatched away! Angry Oh well...maybe a trip to the ballies instead will keep him amused!

DillyDora · 07/08/2010 13:45

Hi all, welcome to bumpno1 I'm not due till 21st....having a baby boy Grin
Sorry about the lack of break yummy the weather has picked up here in London, but I am trying to rest.... in between hoovering, ironing, grocery shopping...Hmm

Now, I finally have time to post about something that happened this week, I've been dying to tell you. There's a woman at work who is famous for saying the wrong thing. I really don't think she means any harm, I think she doesn't even know how offensive she is being. Anyway, alarmingly she's quite fond of me and having just got back from a long period on secondment abroad she stopped by my office and came out with these clangers:
"you mustn't use the computer! It's totally forbidden for pregnant women, you will have a miscarriage! Have you had any bleeding?!"
"O no! Don't call him Tobias, it has the word 'bias' in it, you don't want him to be schizophrenic...You could call him Matthew..."

WTF?! It's all I can do not to burst out laughing. Also she implied I was looking big ('yes, well anyone can see the baby is growing! Really growing!') and as you know no one has said anything like that yet.

Ah me...people, eh?

YummyMummy1208 · 07/08/2010 19:43

Lol DillyDora i didd chuckle after reading those things she said, she sounds very 'ditzy' is she? Im sure she means no harm bless her. Grin

Anyone else having extreme itching around belly button area? I'm getting really worried, had some silvery stretchmarks last time around which appeared about 36 weeks in but already i swear all around my belly button is suffering so bad under the strain of my belly stretching it looks like more could be coming and christ does it itch?! Its one of those, once you start, you cant stop itches and its driving me mad! is this just me?
I mean, i know i have my belly button pierced but cant see what this has to do with it. I would have thught i was mroe safe second time around due to my skin already stretching before?

I did get my break in the end, and then i spent the entire day feeling guilty for having given up one of my 2 days with him! i just cant win i really cant.

Babies room is just perfect, a big grin comes across my face every time i walk upstairs and see into her room. all new and pink, i just need more pictures and a few shelves to finish it off - were off to a car boot tomorrow to see what we can find!

howz everyones weekend going?

bumpno1 · 07/08/2010 23:34

Hey, thanks for the nice welcomes.

I have been really lucky so far, feel ok. Not even had any sickness. Starting to feel the weight now and baby feels like it is determined to kick its way out!! Think I am more worried about postpartum than labour. But really looking forward to meeting the little person that I have been growing!! Grin

DillyDora · 08/08/2010 09:32

Morning!

yummy I've been having an itchy tummy too, especially round the belly button. I just moisturise it as much as I can.

Bumpno1 watcha worried about postpartum? I worry too - my DSS are on the autistic spectrum so I worry my LO will be too, or more to the point, that I will be watching the poor kid so closely all the time I'll be some wierdy neurotic freak mummy!!

Off to a baby shower today! It's miiiiiles away so better get a good book for the journey but it'll be nice to see my friend, her pregnancy was a 'surprise' and she's been sooo ill so nice to do nice things for her.

babybunting2010 · 09/08/2010 12:37

Morning all,

Welcome Bumpno1! Love the name by the way! :)

Yummy, my belly goes through Itchy phases.

Has anyone elses bump dropped at all? I've woken up this morning and it's loads lower and a different shape!?!?!? Not sure what's going on there. Little one def feels like she is trying to kick her way out of there, quite funny really!

Anyone else thinking of a water birth?
x

DillyDora · 09/08/2010 12:40

Hi BabyB not sure I can go full monty water birth at the hospital I'm going to, i think I can sit in the pool for a while and then have to give birth on dry land (like a beached whale!) sounds lovely though...

Jenko77 · 09/08/2010 12:57

Hi all, I definately want a water birth, and our hospital and MLU both have the facilities, so that's what I'm rooting for. Just hoping there are no complications or badly positioned baby, because then they prefer you in a bed, but we'll have to wait and see.

Had a nice, sunny weekend, although spent yesterday at a christening with everyone telling me how small my bump is Sad (I am tall, and not exactly skinny, so can carry it off quite well) - but now I feel like a bad mother already! DH just kept reminding me that MW said I was measuring perfect for dates, so trying to stay calm.

DillyDora · 09/08/2010 13:07

Jenko if it helps I have the exact same thing, I think my bump is a glorious zeppelin full of baby but every other b*gger thinks it's small - even the GP, and even the mw said 'oooh, aren't you nice and neat' (code for small!)! Anyway I measure fine for dates too. SO, I suppose we should just be grateful for our neat and compact little tummies. Also, this is how my Mum carried, can you check with your Mum how she carried to see if it's the same?

Dixiebell · 09/08/2010 14:04

Me too...everyone keeps telling me I'm 'neat' - okay yeah, thanks...!!! I measure dead on for dates too. Midwife said it's because I'm tall. Makes sense really. 30cm fundal height would stick out a lot more if I had less space between my pelvic bone and my boobs! Does make me want to go up to pg women in the street and ask them how far gone they are so I can compare..! Will be interesting to see when I finally get to antenatal classes.

Jenko77 · 09/08/2010 14:15

Good to know it's not just me.

Dilly Mum carried 'all over', and we're totally different builds, plus she had two girls (my bump is blue). Mum still says she's trying to shift the baby weight (I'm 33, and the youngest!).

Dixie I know what you mean - I want to ask other pregnant women, but thought they might think I was gloating... I had my first antenatal class last week and didn't think I looked that much smaller than the others (we were all between 30 and 32 weeks).

I have been described and small and firm - those two words have never been used to describe me - ever - so I guess I should make the most of it. I'm sure by week 40 (and after the arrival) I'll be wishing I was small and firm!! Grin

DillyDora · 09/08/2010 15:04

Um ok, so this odd, has anyone else got flaky nipples? It's like they've suddenly both turned dark brown and the skin in the aureola is flaking, both sides.... They don't itch....anyone else?

Jacksmybaby · 09/08/2010 16:01

Dilly flaky nipples, yes, all a normal part of the milk production process AFAIK!

Yes I keep being told I'm "neat" too, I'm sure this is just what people think they're "meant" to say as a compliment to pg women Grin.

DillyDora · 09/08/2010 16:04

Thanks Jacks at first I thought it was dried colostrum and got all excited but nooo....just looks like I spent too long with my boobs out in the sun ;0).

And I think you're right - people do think they should say that as a compliment, I'm sure of it!

Hevster · 09/08/2010 19:31

I just get the "oh don't you look well" compliment which is great except I feel shit and it makes me appear to be a fraudster who is skiving off work!

Have flakey nipples too but no leakage yet!

babybunting2010 · 09/08/2010 20:20

hi all, i have shocked faces sometimes when i say i have 9 weeks left, as if i'm the size of a beached whale. Then other people say how small i am and that i'm carrying well! Think people just say what they're thinking when they have no idea what you were like before. I had some cheeky mare asking if i am having twins! People just speak without thinking! Winds me up! Oh well. I've had leaky nipples now and them x

Saartjie · 10/08/2010 09:14

Morning all,

Just wanted to pop in and say hi. Not been posting for a while due to my parents being here for a visit (it was lovely). Was hard to say good bye to them though, wont see them now until Christmas when they come to South Africa to visit. Can't believe that we are leaving in 16 days, very scary indeed. Surrounded by boxes at the moment. The shipping company should pick them all up in a week or so.

Missed my 28 week appointment last week (forgot to book one and once I remembered there were no more appointments). Got an appointment this Friday instead and another one next Friday which will be the last one before we leave.

For the record also got flaky nipples and a baby girl that keeps kicking me like there there is no tomorrow.

How is everyone today. It is raining lots here.

YummyMummy1208 · 10/08/2010 10:19

Morning! Our internet usage has ran out this month at home so im now forced to to all my talking at work (what a shame!) Grin

Hi Saartjie , u sound very busy right now trying to organise the big move, will be us next year so i dont envy u as im dreading all them mixed emotions - leaving friends and family vs a new life and new start! but u have lots of family over there dont u (?) so i bet ur just full of excitement!

my little ones going crazy in there aswell - so much worse than with DS1, shes a total hyper baby i think! My mum felt it at the weekend - it, i mean my baby girl, kicking! and she was totally shocked at how hard the kicks were - she said it felt as though she was going to burst through the skin! Im wondering if this means she will want out of there sooner than DS1 once she starts getting cramped??

Its sunny/cloudy here in wales today. another day closer to maternity leave i suppose, altho im wondeering how much rest i will actually get once on leave with my DS! Hmm

KFW · 10/08/2010 11:05

Hi everyone

I havent been on here for a while. I hope you are all well.

saartjie it sounds like things are getting close for you. How exciting. Just think of all that south african sunshine. It's miserable in EC4 today!

It seems I am the only one without flaky nipples. In a weird way i feel kind of left out Hmm!

I am being kicked like there's no tomorrow as well. Happily she seems to have turned herself round and has been head down for a few days now. No doubt she'll spin back again, but it is reassuring to feel that I might be in with a chance of her being the right way up!

We are nesting like mad things and have been having damp fixed and plastering done; we are decorating and all sorts. The house is in chaos, but I know it will be worth it and it had to be done. I wouldn't want to have to do all this with a new born Confused.

keep well all!

Jenko77 · 10/08/2010 11:12

No flaky nipples here either. In fact, apart from a growing belly, I've had no symptoms! Feel like I'm missing out too Hmm I was hoping for much bigger boobs, but have just gone from an A cup to a B cup - big wow!

I am really tired this week though - may have hit the 30week+ wall. Is it wrong to take a sick day off work just because I'm tired and pregnant? I thought it would be too wussy, so I'm here at my desk again.
