This is my first baby... and I´m very happy and nervous....

I´m almost 19 weeks pregnant , and i don´t feel a proper "kick", but i feel bubbles inside... so i guess this is the beginning! wwwoooopp!! 2 weeks to find out if it´s a girl or a boy!!!

I´m also a bit concern because i have sharp pains all over my belly... is that normal?? Does it happen to any of you as weel? Midwife said is normal. I´m under a lot of stress at work and i don´t know if that has something to do with the pain.

Hi Guys,

Can I join in please?
Didnt realise there was another Oct 2010 thread going at it.I am on the other October one and on the OLDER MUMS one(I`m 40)!

This will be dc3 for me(and my last!)I have a DS1 who is 5,6 in October so I am already worrying about having this one on his birthday or being in hospital and missing his birthday! DS2 is 2 ( will be 3 September)Dont know yet what I am having but had my Amnio yesterday so I have asked for them to tell me the sex so should know in a couple of weeks, just before the 20wk scan.
Never found out with the other two so knowing will be a bit of a novelty!.
Hope everyone is feeling good and them bumps are all growing.

xx

Hevster · 14/05/2010 17:34

welcome MMooMar i share your concerns about the birthday thing, DD is 3 on Oct 2nd and this one is due on 9th, however she's not quite old enough to know which day is her birthday so i might invent her a new birthday this year if i have too!
Zotas if midwife says it's ok then i guess it's ok i had pains this morning from sleeping wonky!

weekends - boy I am missing my friday vino, roll on October!

Dixiebell · 14/05/2010 18:04

Hello all.

RooBear if it makes you feel any better I didn't even get a 16 week appointment at all. Was expecting to, as everywhere I'd read that was the next thing, but at my booking appointment, they told me the next time they'd see me was after the 20 week scan. Think these days they're pretty happy to just let you tootle along on your own at the beginning, and just let them know if any problems!

It's kind of good to hear people saying bumps are still not really noticeable. I've been expecting a proper bump since about 8 weeks! But now 20 + 5, and can still hardly notice, depending on what I'm wearing. Although is v.annoying when people say 'oh, you're small aren't you?'. Argh - do they not realise that just makes you worry that something's not going right?!

Was so excited too to start feeling movement a few weeks ago, is such a cool feeling, but also adds another worry to the list when you don't feel it for a while, today haven't felt anything yet. Argh again. However, happened last week and started feeling kicks again after a couple of days. Isn't it all fun?!

Jacksmybaby · 14/05/2010 21:36

Zotas, I wouldn't be surprised if stress is making your pain worse, can you take it easy over the weekend?

Welcome MMooMar.

Have a great weekend everybody, hope all of you who've been feeling poorly / anxious / down get a bit of time to rest and de-stress. x

PatsyIsPreggers · 15/05/2010 12:44

Hi all,

Got the real preg hormone thing going on last night. Loooong week at work, leaving home at 7 every day and not getting back til 8pm or so, so really tired too. Called DH when was on way home from work, he reminded me I'd said I'd go supremarket shopping. Cue Crying hysterically. Pulled myself togehter, went shopping, got home, realised I'd forgeotten DH's fave cereal - cue crying hysterically. Pulled myself together, DH said 'put your feet up, I'll sort dinner / look after you - Cue crying hysterically again from happiness this time!!!

Oh well, was bound to kick in some time. DH doesn't know what to do, just stares at me a bit and pats me on the back!

Good to know I'm not the only one though...

DillyDora · 15/05/2010 17:43

I may be mixing up my threads here - but was it here we were posting about the dreaded bad thoughts? I had them so badly this morning I spent the entire time going about the house hissing 'STOPPIT!' at myself - good job I was alone. They are eeeeevil! Feel better now though.

Hope everyone's having a good day
xx

RooBear · 15/05/2010 21:45

I have them zotas especially in the morning or late at night, not sure if its how I sit or sleep?? it was this thread dilly hello again moomar! (i'm on the other thread as well)

babybunting2010 · 17/05/2010 08:57

Morning all,

Had a lovely weekend, hope you all did too, finally made a start to the nursery, well took down anything that shouted DINK's (Only just learnt this... it means dual income no kids for anyone who doesn't know, don't want you thinking I am crazy) Now rather than having almost a whole wall of DVD's we have a wall of polyfillered wholes, which we are hoping with a little paint will look a little less obvious! Can't wait for my 20 week scan on 24th can't beleive how quickly everything is going!!!!

Zotas I too have had all sorts of pains and things, Midwife said they are all just my body moving everything around inside to make room for the baby, it is meant to be quite normal. Was advised to try and lie down or straighten up a bit until the pain goes down!

Dixie I know what you mean about people going on about the size of the bump people keep saying how big mine is for 19 weeks... as if I need people pointing out that I am fat!!!! (Was tubby before being pg. and think the baby bump is pushing the fat out and does make me look quite large really) and as if you need to be worrying about the size of the bump! Everyone is different as people keep telling me!

Has anyone used one of those home heart beat monitors.... mine isn't picking up the baby's heart beat, but does say to use it the first time between 21 and 28 weeks, so think I might not have bought a very good one as I am sure someone said a couple of weeks ago on an October thread that they were addicted to listening to the baby's heart beat!

WOW just realised how long this post is sorry to go on!

xxx

Hevster · 17/05/2010 10:54

morning all, BabyB not used, or even heard of a home heart beat monitor so can't help you on that one. Just shipped DD off to her Grandparents for the day so can catch up on a bit of peace (need it after 20 min tantrum as dress she wanted to wear was in the wash and no other one would do!)
Hope you all had a good weekend and the sun is shining where you are (tis trying to here)

Jacksmybaby · 17/05/2010 11:30

Morning ladies.

babyb, not used a doppler thingy either.

Bean did first kicks you could actually feel from outside my tummy this weekend! Typically DH was away on a stag weekend so missed it, s/he hasn't done it since!

Right off to pick DS up from pre-school now...
x

Daynee · 17/05/2010 12:38

Hey ladies! Jacks - Awesome news about the baby kicks. I wish I could feel mine now and I'm beginning to worry but everyone tells me I'll be feeling it soon!

I've had a definite growth spurt over the last week, and now there's no hiding the belly. I've been having more discomfort and also got a yeast infection - yuk! Other than that, I'm eating too much as usual and can't wait to go register. Anyone registering soon?

JazzieJeff · 17/05/2010 13:00

Daynee; yep I'm definately eating too much as well; munched my way through a whole bag of malteasers yesterday because I bloody well felt like it.
BabyBunting2010; I don't really have a bump, it's more like a food baby so at night I look positively blooming and during the day, people are like 'you're pregnant? Oh, I didn't know! You're so small aren't you?...' Then they tail off, as if they've said too much already, leaving me to slowly go insane with worry! Think at the moment small is just pushing existing fat out so I look like I've been at the cheese and biscuits. Which of course, I have!
I cannot wait for the scan, having it a little bit late because DH is away on a course and I didn't want to go on my own. He's coming back on Friday, he's only been away three weeks but I've missed him so much can't wait for him to be back. Been feeling really needy lately which hasn't helped.
Dilly... don't know if it was you discussing difficulties with promotion? Well, I thought I was going to have to fight for mine loads because although I'd done the academic course and passed, due to being pregnant I couldn't do the physical side of it, (which by the way, they let people who are medically downgraded complete, but not pregnant women). I work for the amred forces, and they pretty much told me to bugger off at first and even tried to kick me off the promotion course ... went to our equivelent of HR and told them that I'm as good as anyone else, and being pregnant doesn't mean that I can't work as a supervisor. They were brilliant and sorted me out straightaway. Now got promotion with all the pay and benefits just a shame that I had to go through 3 months of horrible stress to get it. All I wanted was the promotion I had worked for, and the extra money that would secure for my family. Don't let them take anything away from you.
xxx

DillyDora · 17/05/2010 14:16

Jazzie woohoo! Well done on the promotion! I am sure mine will go through as soon as this meeting happens at the end of June to approve the new course. DH was asking about the money and I thought, 'o yes...maybe I'll have to fight for that too' but I'll jump off that bridge when I come to it My HoD is being brilliant - defending me every step of the way. Well done you for getting what you're entitled too but sorry you had to fight.

Daynee what are you registering for? I am intrigued....

xx

JazzieJeff · 17/05/2010 15:11

Dilly; thanks! Yeah I was shocked that such a HUGE organisation would show such an attitude to women TBH, the money was my motivator I just felt like I'd done the course, so I was entitled to it. I wish I'd not worried so much but you can't help it xx

RooBear · 17/05/2010 15:40

congrats to you both jacks and jazzie !

Daynee · 18/05/2010 22:18

Sorry Dilly - Perhaps that isn't the right term for you Englanders...? I meant I'm registering at a baby store for my baby shower...

Jacksmybaby · 19/05/2010 09:00

Oh, to be American!!

Baby showers aren't really done in England - perhaps we should start a trend for them though?!

It's my bday today everyone! (Sorry shameless attention seeking, but hey, it's allowed, I'm the birthday girl ).

Hope everyone is ok today. x

DillyDora · 19/05/2010 09:16

Happy Birthday Jacks!!!

About baby showers - a Californian friend of mine suggested a recycled baby shower (no, you don't just get someone's old baby ) where all the gifts are secondhand donations from mums you know who don't need them anymore. Now, I realise this will just seem abhorrent to some people and I understand but I really like the idea - I'm not wild about the ultra-consumerist aspect of all this babyness (I was like this about my wedding - it's just a politics thing and I promise I won't go on about it). So... I may have to organise my own shower as it's not usually done here but that's how I'll do it. Also I did organise a baby shower for my younger sister (whose baby was a very great 'surprise' and I thought we could do with at least trying to celebrate!) so I wonder if she will return the favour?!

xx

mamjo · 19/05/2010 10:06

Hi Ladies,
I am beginning to get a bit panicky which is so unlike me so I thought that I would get the thoughts of those of you in the same boat. I apologise if I just sound neurotic!!

I am 20 weeks on Friday and can't be sure that I have felt the baby move. Occasionally I feel a sort of "clicking" in my diaghram but nothing that I could say was a baby or even that it is in the right place. Does this sound familiar to anyone?
Also my scan is not for another 2 and a half weeks which seems to be out of line with what I am hearing other peopkle having the anomaly scan at 20 weeks. should I be concerned about this? will it have any effect on the results?

Jacksmybaby · 19/05/2010 10:12

It is your 1st mamjo? It's normal not to feel baby until 20 weeks or later. If it's your first it's hard to know what it's meant to feel like, but as they get stronger over the weeks it will be more and more obvious that it's the baby.

Also, I didn't have my "20 wk" scan until 22 weeks last time either, think it's done at any time between 18 and 22 weeks. This time I will be 20+1 weeks.

Try not to feel anxious!

mamjo · 19/05/2010 10:34

Thanks jacksmybaby

Yes it is my 1st and I am mostly very relaxed about most things but have been asked so many times this week about whether I can feel the baby and when I say no, I get "that" look.

RooBear · 19/05/2010 10:42

I haven't felt anything yet mamjo its my first so don't know what i'm looking for! I wouldn't worry yet though. happy birthday jacks my sis wants to throw me a baby shower, but we've already got loads on donations so might just suggest a pamper session or something

babybunting2010 · 19/05/2010 10:59

Mamjo apparently it's not until up to 24 weeks with your first, so I really wouldn't worry yourself too much about anything at all.

Happy Birthday Jacks hope you have a lovely day! Don't drink too much.... non alcoholic sparkling wine, that is!

Think the idea of having baby showers is becoming more and more popular at the moment, but am not having one as seem to have soooo much stuff already.

Spent last night ironing and getting ready all the stuff that we have received as we are planning on getthing the nursery done this weekend!

Any more people found out what they are having yet?
x

Jacksmybaby · 19/05/2010 11:17

Just another thought about the feeling the baby thing... with my 1st pg, I would now say that I felt movement from about 19/20 wks, but at the time I wasn't sure that that was what I was feeling, it was only later on when the movements had got much stronger that I could look back and say, yes that was the baby moving all along. Hope that makes sense!
