OMG Muser CONGRATULATIONS!! That is just fantastic, so good to see you here!! It'll be good to get that scan at 6 weeks.

CONGRATS also to WYG, Bunny and Varicose - and welcome!! Hope I haven't missed anyone out, seems like it was a splurge of fantastic news. This is what happens when I look away for a couple of days.

I'm going to look away again now so there is lots more good news.

Brilliant!!

Meita · 24/06/2010 13:12

Welcome and congrats WYG! Great to have already heard/seen a heartbeat.

Thanks Unbuffy for that recipe, might just try it! Had a Mango Frappé yesterday, I think it was just Mango and Ice blended, was very yummy and refreshing.

Muser good luck with the GP tomorrow. I remember from the TTC thread (I do lurk there every now and then) that you had to wait a long time before TTC again. Great news that you then didn't have to wait ages for the BFP! I'm handing out lots of sticky vibes, please help yourselves everyone who needs them.

SamB that sounds like a terrible hospital experience. I would be properly upset! In fact am a bit on your behalf.
Really glad though to hear that it seems like nothing serious. Hope you can concentrate on being pregnant now.

Louise yes I'm well, thanks! How about you? I'll be more careful about having a summer baby next time though, believe me! (Just kidding... grateful to be pregnant at all and not worried in the least about dates and such)

clareanna thanks for the man with the palm leaf - arrived this morning in the mail - much appreciated Re your gastro-thing, just make sure you stay well hydrated, ok?

Oh happygirl I remember my 16-week MW appointment all too well. It was a straight disaster, you can find my rants about it somewhere on this thread, about 16 weeks back I suppose Anyway they had told me at my booking-in that they would listen to the heartbeat at the 16w appointment. When they didn't, I asked about it. Response: "We don't do that anymore". Why? Because apparently it just causes lots of worry in some cases when they can't find the heartbeat, they then have to send the woman to hospital to be checked out, it's just too much bother for everyone. As if I wasn't worrying anyway. But it's the policy now. So the first time I actually got to hear the heartbeat was at 24 weeks. But why do they make you expect to hear the heartbeat and then don't even try? Why do most places in the country listen for the heartbeat at 16w but not mine (and yours)? Anyway, stop me before I start ranting again...

boodle I'm staying inside until at least about Monday I think... Our house is always nice and cool (or freezing cold in winter). Thanks for letting us know about Lee, it's reassuring. Is your appointment tomorrow or next week? I hope they'll let you keep baking your little cookie for a while yet. Can't have you overtaking me . Also fingers crossed that the fibroid is not growing.

Yay Lucy to the positive scan and the courage to join the list! I know it can be a bit daunting. And it's such a LONG list now. I think when I joined we were about 6 people on here...

Welcome varicose Come on in and make yourself comfortable.

GLB keep looking over there. It obviously works

Still hoping to see the other recent BFPs from the TTC thread join us soon... though I do understand it can seem like tempting fate.

Oh - and sorry everyone for the monster-long post!

HappyGirl1 · 24/06/2010 14:36

Meita thanks for letting me know about your scan! I was really disappointed, DH didn't quite get it as they did what they said they do but I was like they should have tried to listen to the heartbeat! Good to hear it's not just me it happens to if you get me!

Hope everyone else is having a nice Thursday. My cold is getting worse by the hour, I look like I'm crying all the time my eyes are so watery. Just hope baby is okay with me under the weather but still i think all the good vitamins etc get to the baby .

Just poopping back in to say hi. I'm still lurking and hope you are all okay.

Goodluckbear · 24/06/2010 17:17

Jollster woohoo (quietly!!)

xxxxxxx

WestYorkshireGirl · 24/06/2010 21:11

Unbuffy I like the sound of your milkshake - how much roughly in terms of quantities of milk and frozen fruit do you use?

GLB Great to see you again - was wondering how you were getting on! This thread is so good - can't believe I didn't know about it.

Red Thanks for stopping be sounding like a Motorway Services in West Yorkshire!

Have bitten the bullet today and booked a private scan for next Tues when I'll be 10+3. Just decided that I need something to calm me down a bit and take the pressure off the 12 week scan (which was where I found out it had all gone wrong last time). In a way I am cross with myself for needing the reassurance, but in another way I think it will help get me out of the state I've got myself into. I have tomorrow off and am planning on doing some nice things like shopping and I've been fancying a Mcdonalds/Burger King all week and might just give in to the thought of gherkins and fries!

clareanna · 24/06/2010 22:00

Wyg enjoy the maccie ds! (the shame - found myself in there last week too)
Scab sounds very sensible if you can't get an early reassurance scan through your GP. I've got one at 10 weeks too, and will probably pay for one at 12 weeks too to be doubly sure. Wish I was married to Tom cruise and could purchase own scanning machine...

LilRedWG · 25/06/2010 09:21

Ooo - I fancy a McDs now too. Good luck with the scan next week.

I'm six weeks today and to celebrate threw up this morning. I hate morning sickness.

Going to a family bbq tomorrow and no-one there will know so I have to look healthy and not like I want to vomit on them.

Alba best of luck today

Goodluckbear · 25/06/2010 09:57

Alba good luck, thinking of you!!

WestYorkshireGirl · 25/06/2010 10:21

Good luck Alba
I have no pg symptoms at all today and apart from looking a bit podgy don't look/feel different at all.

AlbaDeTamble · 25/06/2010 10:31

Low risk, all fine, HUGE relief!

boodleboot · 25/06/2010 10:31

Fuck me jolls....good to see you girl!!!

alba.....sending you lots of prayers today, good luck hun.

meita - how are your braxton hicks? Mine are incredibly painful - i have been told that the more pregnancies you get the worse they feel and wonder if that it true...this is my third preg to this stage.....

WYG - totally understand you booking a private scan...i did....infact i had a private scan on the friday before my monday morning NHS 12wk scan as i was getting into such a state about going for a scan without knowing that the baby was there and alive....after four horrific experiences of MMC then three scans to determine ectopic last year.....you are not mental! Well no more mental than any of us on here....

Meita · 25/06/2010 12:03

Hi Jollster! Massive congratulations!
I'm due in 8 weeks - that's just about when you will be having your 12w-scan. So perhaps we can make a private little agreement : When I graduate off the list, you go on, ok? (Beaming positive vibes all round)

WYG a private scan is a good way to go, I think (though obviously not for everyone). Takes the pressure off the 12w-scan.

clareanna Weeeelll... if you were married to Tom Cruise, you'd not be allowed to scream during birth. Dunno... Maybe marry him temporarily for the first trimester or so and then quickly get a divorce?

Alba SUCH good news! You must feel about a stone lighter. Big smile on my face for you.

Boodle my BH are so unspectacular that I tend to not properly notice them unless I'm looking out for them. Like, I'm walking home from the station (walking tends to set them off), and somehow I'm not feeling well, so I tell myself "it was a long day, I need to start doing less" and such, until I realize "oh my bump has gone all hard, that's why I'm feeling odd - must be BH".
Sorry to hear yours are so painful. You're really not having an easy pregnancy! Do you know when you are starting maternity leave yet?

I had my first NCT class last night. It was an, ummm... interesting experience. But somehow I am still in denial. Odd... how can I be in denial about something I want so much? Must be seriously mental... (I guess that's why I fit right in here )

Muser · 25/06/2010 13:55

Wonderful news Alba, so happy for you.

I booked in with my GP today and have a midwife appointment set up for mid-July. He was useless about the early scan I was told I had to have to rule out ectopic. Luckily my original EPU (which is not the hospital where I'll get midwife care) were lovely and helpful and I have a scan booked for 5 July.

Goodluckbear · 25/06/2010 14:14

Great to hear that Alba!!

Glad you've got that scan booked in Muser - how many weeks will you be on 5th July? It'll be relief to get than scan.

Happy weekends everyone!!

xxx

Muser · 25/06/2010 14:28

6 weeks goodluckbear, EPU did it almost to the day.

malteser1981 · 25/06/2010 16:38

Soooo much good news all round!

'Specially Alba - fandabbydozzy news

WYG - the only thing that kept me sane was fortnightly scans, so if you can go for it.

I'm back on nights for the next month...will check in, but don't expect any glittering witty posts from me!

randomimposter · 25/06/2010 16:42
WestYorkshireGirl · 25/06/2010 17:05

Excellent news, Alba - do you know how they can tell it's 'low risk'? Thanks for the reassurance about the scans - I don't feel quite so weak now!

Was fascinated to discover pg hormones can affect your eyesight when I went for eye test today! They don't recommend you get new glasses when pg but considering my sunglasses which I use a lot for driving were a bit dodgy I didn't have much choice. It seems being pg has an impact on just about everything!

toomuchteaching · 25/06/2010 20:14

Oh Alba brilliant brilliant brilliant. Am so happy for you that it went well. You can enjoy your weekend now! Bloody hell though I disappear for a few days and soooo much happens! I can't even begin to namecheck or congratulate everyone but I am thinking it honestly!! Hello all, expecially new (and old new) people.

Can I have a little moan? I went for my booking appointment yesterday. As you know the midwife had cancelled my previous appointment, and booked this one by leaving me an answerphone message. When I called to try to arrange a more convenient time I was told she couldn't possibly change.

So... the day before I called the surgery to ask them to put a note on my appointment saying I had to leave by 12 o'clock, my appointment was at 11.20. The receptionist said it was fine as her next appointment was at 12 anyway. I had to get back for my GCSE class whose exam was that afternoon, I couldn't miss them, hence trying to change the appointment.

My husband and I left school (I don't drive) and got to the doctors. I logged in on the little computer to see a 16 minute wait, and realised I would have to answer the millions of questions pretty quickly. So I sat down at 11.15. The lady before me went in at 11.35, and came out at 11.50. At 11.57 she finally called me in. I got it, said hello, gave her my wee and left again. What a total waste of time!

She's booked me another appointment for next Thursday so that she can see me before my scan, again totally inconvenient as I now have to miss my class at sports' day, but it was the only time she could offer since she only works one morning a week.

No proper apology, she didn't even seem very surprised, except by me needing to leave. Do they assume all pregnant woman can just sit and wait for 40 minutes without it mattering!? But I know I can't be too rude since I'm going to need her over the next few months hopefully.

Sorry this has turned mammoth, but I can't moan at anyone in real life since we're still in top secret mode. Haha I just remembered I asked to have a little moan!

Finally... early scan was the best thing I did. No way I could have waited until 13 weeks without a clue. Had a private one at 8+3 and actually kind of wish I'd had another one since, I'm still so nervous for next weekend.

Have a lovely Friday night all... it's so lovely to see the list growing. And sorry for the big complaint!!
