Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

Hello everybody,

I´d like to join you ... I got a bfp on Thursday and due date is 13th October.

This is my first pregnancy so I´d love to learn all I can!

At the moment feeling quite a lot of stomach ache, not sure what it is, hoping it´s fairly normal. No sickness though, just an enormous appetite!

Nice to find this thread.

SilverSky · 14/02/2010 08:34

yes, its cramp city here too! Also ravenous.

Its our first too, so its going to be a huge learning curve.

JazzieJeff · 14/02/2010 14:27

Hi sophieandbelly, my due date is October 1st so I was 7 weeks exactly on Friday I think I'm a bit ahead of you? Had any more crazy ideas about names? Follwing our conversation about names last week DH and I have started calling it Gucci lol!
Lizkin, don't worry I've had quite a few almost period like cramps, but just not as bad and not for that long. Aparently it's your muscles stretching out because once you get to 8 weeks your uterus is the size of an orange
Right people, Valentine's Day and not drinking? The perfect cure all. Go to your nearest M&S, pick up a jar of fairtrade chocolate truffle sauce, microwave it and dip strawberries and raspberries in it (which are on offer ) It's totally lush, and anyway think of all the calories you're saving from not drinking...

sophieandbelly · 14/02/2010 14:43

hey!! yeah week ahead of me jazzie, u feeling tired?? thinking i may have a kip, dd and dp r asleep!!

we rgoing out to pub for little valentines meal, just three of us!!! ha

god there was atcually a woman on names that liked gertrude!! could u imagin!! even gucci is better then that! haha. the funny thing is 2 nd timne u want it to sound ok with first!

i havnt mentioned anyhting to dp as whatever i say he says is crap! even tho i chose dd s name and he now loves it, altho he now says he just felt sorry for me after 38 hr labour!!!

did anyone watch one born every min?

the bloke on there was a total knob if that was my dp i would have kicked his arse!!

ellabella2 · 14/02/2010 16:22

^did anyone watch one born every min?

the bloke on there was a total knob if that was my dp i would have kicked his arse!!^

I was totally motified for the poor woman and couldn't stop shouting at the TV. He was unbelieveable!!

Jazzie - loving the alcohol free valentines idea Shame I don't have much of an appetite at the moment and seem to be uncharacistically uninterested in chocolate

Hope everyone is enjoying a lovely Valentine's Day x

JazzieJeff · 14/02/2010 18:51

Hey sophieandbelly; gertrude?! OMG that poor, poor baby! Luckily my DH is quite agreeable to most things as long as I don't insist on Ophelia or something
Right, that one born every minute; why did they have their 18 year old son in there?! Whilst you're at it, you might as well get the whole family round you and go the whole hog! I cried for that poor girl whose little boy was born with his bowel on the outside of him Definately going to watch it this week, though it was a bit scary how rushed the midwives were; that woman (with the prat of a husband) was begging for an epidural and she never got one...
ellabella2; I hope you feel well enough to eat four jars of chocolate truffle sauce soon; I'm rooting for you!

Hello I've got an EDD of 24th Oct, can I join in?

I'm very very excited and hope to God it doesn't all go a bit Pete Tong.

sophieandbelly · 14/02/2010 20:09

welcome Hermya321 and lizkin!!

exactly why would she have either of those idiots in room with her, aaagghhhh its the last thing u need my dp did the right thing and just shut the fu'k up!!! hahaha

i would imagin the reason she didnt get one was a) she kept saying if u dont have time etc.

which would imply she can cope with out, that poor baby with bowl prob, must be heart breaking not to see them straight away either .

p,s i didnt hear any women going mental screaming wen i was in labour dont b put off!

Hermya321 · 14/02/2010 22:17

sophieandbelly I saw the programme as well, her DH was well bad. If my DH did that, I'd have punched him.

I think that woman was too nice and the midwife kind of dismissed her a little when she said 'if you don't have time'. Then again, they were so rushed off of their feet. So mad isn't it.

Sameranda · 14/02/2010 22:41

Hi! I just found out yesterday that I'm pregnant for the first time, am feeling so overwhelmed with it all although very happy!

I think I would be due around mid October if my maths is right. I've had no symptons at all, just a late period a few days ago so took the test and voila. My boobs feel a bit tender but they usually do so not much different to normal.

Anyway, this is my first post, nice to see you all on here and to hear all your thoughts. good luck! x

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 14/02/2010 23:30

I haven't been on here for ages! So many new people! :p

Lisa on One Born Every Minute made me well up when she kept saying she wasn't ready because she hadn't washed the cot blanket!! ... although maybe i'm just extra emotional right now!

Sophieandbelly... I just read that you are a hairdresser and wondered if you can tell me if its okay to bleach my hair or at least get blonde highlights?

I am five and a half weeks and have roots down to my ears!! My doctor said don't risk it, but all my pregnant friends said do it (though they may be sick of my moaning ;)) Called my hairdresser and they weren't prepared to advise me either way... how bad is it?

How is everyone else feeling? Very VERY crampy and terrified?

xx

ciaobella19 · 15/02/2010 00:21

hi everyone...

very excited/nervous/cramping nonstop/ irritable/tired/ and wake up feeling hungover everyday lol not so good.

hope everyone has had a nice valentines day xxx

FutureMum · 15/02/2010 09:01

Can anybody tell me how long until you need a different bra and how do you go about getting it? Think it's 7 weeks now (or could be 8, I'm terrible at Maths!) and have gone from being quite flat chested to having sore breasts that make me feel like a cow.
Sickness comes and goes, it seems the more I eat the less sick I get, and I need to eat every 2-3 hours depending on how big the previous meal was. Also, incredibly picky with meals, can't stand fresh meat or fish or my normal winter favourite soup, it's dry food, but at least my list of what I can eat has expanded to include some things with nutritional value such as broccoli. Hubbie worried I am not eating the right quality. I seem to have developed, for the first time ever, a love for oven chips.

Welcome ciaobella19 and Sameranda.

Anythingwithagiraffeonit You've got me down to a T at the moment. Very crampy and terrified.

How is everybody else this fine morning?

JazzieJeff · 15/02/2010 09:53

Haha! Yeah it sounded a bit mental in there!
God its all I can do not to spew over my computer this morning... woke up at about 4am alternating between really bad hunger pangs and horrible waves of nausea. I work for the navy as a helicopter technician and the smell of hydraulics from the hangar just hit me like a brick... roll on 4 o clock

Dixiebell · 15/02/2010 11:14

Hello everyone, hope it's okay to join you all. I'm 7 weeks today - EDD 4 October. Actually just about to go off to my first midwife appointment. Not sure what this will involve, but I'm guessing some peeing into a cup, so drinking (decaf!) tea and trying not to go before I leave...!

Hey, anyone thought about how cool a 10/10/10 birthdate would be?

Btw, I'm exactly the same with the whole no symptoms, is it real? thing. Most I can point to is sore boobs and slight twinges in what I assume is my uterus! But then sometimes think perhaps I'm just imagining that to convince myself it's real! Although I guess no period and two positive tests is a clue....

Dixiebell · 15/02/2010 11:17

Oh, one other thing - has anyone had the swine flu vaccine? I know a while back it was recommended all preg women had it, but my doctor was rather non-committal and said it up to me. Haven't yet been contacted about it. I will ask the midwife today and report back...

Pinkali37 · 15/02/2010 11:34

Have been to the doctors this morning. Told her i had had some cramps and maybe over exagerated it a little in the hope that she would send me for an early scan however no, instead she told me to have a blood test and then another on wednesday to ensure my levels are going up. I had an early scan with dd at 6 weeks 4 days but Dr told me i was too early for it this time. She calculated i am 5+2 today which confused me as i thought i would be 6 on Wednesday. Like everyone i just want some sort of sign that i am pregnant. but if all works out well.

ellabella2 · 15/02/2010 12:47

Jazzie sorry to hear you are suffering

Dixiebell I am so with you on the no real symptoms thing. I am just gone 6 weeks and nothing substantial to speak of symptom wise. Like you said feeling queasy now and again and loosing some appetite could be all in my head

Pinkali37 I am really lucky in that because I had fertility treatment I get a 6 week scan (tomorrow)before being handed over to my GP if everything is as it should be. I'm really excited and really nervous too. Just praying that everything is fine and I will actually get some evidence that I am indeed pregnant!

Welcome all the recent newcomers

Dixiebell · 15/02/2010 13:30

Just got back from midwife! Did urine test and talked through all med history, all fine. She also 'palpated' me to feel uterus. So was trying to get out of her that she could definitely tell from what it felt like that I was preggers - you know a final official confirmation! She did say it feels higher up than would be, but wasn't quite the unqualified confirmation I was hoping for! Argh. Anyway, got to stop thinking it's all in my head, but I think until I see the scan, or a bump, I will not be satisfied!

On the swine flu thing she was also very unhelpful and said it was up to GPs to decide whether or not to offer it. I have doctors in the family, so will prob ask their advice...once I've actually told them I'm pregnant! Have been holding out on doing so, but thinking I might let my mum know now I've had my first midwife appt. When's everyone else planning to tell family?

sophieandbelly · 15/02/2010 15:40

hi everyone.aaaggghhhhh feeling rough boohooo didnt feel this rough this quick with dd.

feeling tearful aswell which isnt me at all!!!

anythingwith... i would say if u were my client that i would be happy to do highlights if u had them almost back to back then be nice and light for u,
i would say dont put colour directly on scalp, its more to do with ur hormones, u can get and uneven col or may simply not take.they should skin test u before they even do highlights (tiny bit of col behind ur ear) if they dont offer i would ask will put ur mind at rest,
there is no evadence that colouring has any direct effect on baby, but i stayed with highlights during 1st preg.

future i no what u mean about the boob thing!!! i would stick to m and s and just go up a size, u dont need to lose the underwire until ur bump bigger (altho i am an e cup to start with so i always wore underwire!) christ nos what size they will end up this time!!

welcome sameranda congatulations!!

Hermya321 · 16/02/2010 01:51

Evening or morning at this point .

Feeling very all over the place at the moment, I've swung from happy to tears more time than I can count today. It's not been fun.

To combat the nausea I found that Bottlegreen Lemongrass and Ginger cordial and eating stem ginger cookies helped stem the tide today. So I thought I would pass along the tip to see if anyone fancied giving it a go.

Sophieandbelly Sorry you're feeling rough.

Jazzie You have my respect seriously, but sorry to hear you're feeling rough.

Futuremum I'm with you on the boobs thing, mine seem to have doubled in size overnight.

sophieandbelly · 16/02/2010 08:55

oo thanks hermya321 i will give that a try

dixabel.. i did ask my doc about swine flu jab and he might as well have laughed in my face, just said dont think that nessary do u! as i pointed out i didnt no thats y i was asking!!! will ask midwife wen i go in 2 weeks.

god woke up at 3 ish this morning dd was coughing, thought she may need inhaler so got up and felt sick as a dog, awful wen i got backl in bed felt like whole room spinning.

Lizkin · 16/02/2010 08:59

Good morning ladies,

Last post I said I didn't have any nausea... well, now I do! Oh boy. Spent yesterday eating breadsticks and liquorice just to calm it down, was really nervous I would have to leave my lesson (I teach English to foreigners) to go and throw up - thankfully it was ok.

Seems even worse today. And yesterday in the supermarket I found myself buying all sorts of unusual things. DH says anyone could tell I'm pregnant just by looking inside our fridge...

Well, chin up to everyone else who's feeling the same - it's a good sign, right?

DillyDora · 16/02/2010 09:50

Hi All

I'm a newbie on your discussion so hope that's ok...did the test last Friday though I knew I was pg almost as soon as it has happened as I had a really stupid random emotional row with a woman at work and then I started to get thinner, and thinner...and my Mum said, ah, that's exactly what happened to her! I have PMT paranoia x 1000. That has to be my worst symptom, I'm sooooo emotional (er, yeah, ok, I was a pretty emotional person before ) and I have to count to 10 before I say anything or write a work email! DH is away on business, went away the morning after we discovered we're having a baby (OMG! I'm having a baybeeeee!!!) so I'm not in great shape emotionally and not sleeping well. This is our first baby and being ancient (37 ) I thought it would take ages to conceive but it happened the first month. Wow! Keeping it quiet is so hard, so I'm really glad I found this site - feels like it will be a sanity saver. I haven't seen the GP yet and I think my due date is about mid-October.

Anyway, big hello to everyone and congratulations of course! And to the people feeling very poorly at the mo, lots of sympathy and ginger (and wondering if I'll be joining you very soon?!)
