Hi, I am a first-timer Mum to Be and Baby has been given a due date of 1 October. Very early dates still, so nervous and excited I cannot think about anything else! Planning not to tell family and friends till the first three months are over, but it's going to be tough!
Anyone else expecting an October baby out there?

Hi all,

We've literally (yesterday) just discovered that my Wife is pregnant!

I'm 42 tomorrow and my Wife is 42 in May.
Although I already have a son that lives with his mum, this is our first child together.

We got married 3 & 1/2 years ago and have a wonderful relationship and marriage.

Not sure what else to say, except the reason I'm posting in this thread is that according to the due date calculator, baby is due in October this year (2010)!

Cheers!

Hermya321 · 16/02/2010 10:15

Liskin I'm leaning the same way as yourself at the moment, my cupboards are full of pringles at the moment (I never buy pringles) and I've been inhaling feta cheese and olive sandwiches like they're going out of fashion.

nugent42 · 16/02/2010 11:21

Hello I am another October one! I have been given a due date of 12 OCtober - so very early on like all of you! This is my first pregnancy too and very nervous and excited!

sophieandbelly · 16/02/2010 11:47

welcome nugget, emanden u may b our first daddy on board!! and hi to dillydora!! oct will be a busy month!!

looking forward to hearing how u all get on!!

JazzieJeff · 16/02/2010 12:07

Hi new mums (and dads!) Hope everyone's feeling well today. Sophie and dilly, I'm so emotional too its nuts. I dropped a toolbox on the floor this morning and the whole thing just sprang open as it hit the ground and sent about a jillion spanners skidding over the floor. Cue the inevitable; 'weeeaay!' from all the lads which happens whenever ANYONE drops ANYTHING. EVER. I actually felt myself welling up!
Sickness seems to be better today, although I have munched on loads of ginger biscuits... is it me or is my waistband getting tighter?

DillyDora · 16/02/2010 12:35

Hi again all - wfh today and really not with it, would rather be on this site . Jazzie I don't know how you manage to do anything technical, I tried to make a cup of tea with no tea bag the other day, I'm a liability! Also - does anyone know why I keep buying chocolate and biscuits and then not eating them?! They don't taste right, and, much much worse - nor do cups of tea!! But loving coffee which I think is not good - am I right that we should only have one cup a day?

JazzieJeff · 16/02/2010 13:42

Oh dilly I wish I had your restraint! My boss told me to go home for the afternoon and rest because he said I looked so tired... hmm don't know whether to be grateful or not lol! Anyway I can just see a dirty takeaway from my bedroom window and keep fantasising about a 15" pizza and some cheesy chips in a pitta bread with ketchup... dh would never have to know... I'm trying to remember my responsibilities to small bean growing inside me. Perhaps it would enjoy a filthy pizza too... hold me back, someone!
Oh, dilly I think it depends if its filter coffee or not. If so, I think its one cup a day. The nhs website is pretty decent with its guidelines xxx

DillyDora · 16/02/2010 14:11

Ha ha Jazzie, see I should have confessed that although I don't want chocolate, I really, really want to have macaroni cheese .... from a tin! You know the stuff? It's grim! Guilty pleasures indeed....

Does your boss know you're pregnant? I'm on pins at work, I feel like it's tattooed on my forehead and I am just dreading telling them.

OK, off to check out my coffee allowance. Step away from the pizza (but cheesy chips sound quite tempting, bet they're just full of calcium!)

Hello to our ever growing group of October mums and dads to be

Well carrying on the food theme . . .

It seems savoury cravings are flavour of the day . For the last twenty four hours I seem to have had hunger pangs on and off all the time. Nothing sweet is taking my fancy at all (apart from fresh fruit!!!). I haven't had much of an appetite but savoury stodge is becoming more appealing [read chips, cheesy sounds even better, roast potatoes, pizza].

DP and I have just got back from having my 6 week scan . It was A - MAZING - we could see this tiny 'splodge' with a weeny pulsating heartbeat. I cannot take my eyes off the scan picture and just keep saying to myself "see that little ball of cells . . . that is your baby and it's growing inside your tummy at this very moment" .
The clinic gave us a due date 9th October but said it could change at the 12 week dating scan.

Loving reading everyone's latest symptoms and food cravings. Keep them coming . . .

I'm off to find something to stop my tummy rumbling again

ellabella2 · 16/02/2010 15:42

Wow, I've just scrolled through this thread and there are now 40 of us on here

Some more regular than others. It would be great if we manage to keep in touch over the next 9 months of . . . whatever life brings our way

LadyThompson · 16/02/2010 15:47

Did you know that there is another October thread in the antenatal groups bit of the board? That's where such groups usually go

anythingwithagiraffeonit · 16/02/2010 16:27

Ellabella I totally agree!

I had an early scan yesterday and it was so amazing I couldn't stop giggling... I think the doctor thought I was mad!

Going next Wednesday for another scan and can't wait :p

All I want to eat is pasta... Giant great bowl fulls of it :p

Xx

Tootbelle · 16/02/2010 16:34

Hi all!

I've been reading your messages and was wondering if I could join you?
I too am due in October 2010. (2nd i think) Oh that feels weird writing it down in black and white!

My DH and I have not told anyone about our baby plans yet. It is this big fat secret we are carrying around so I have decided to vent here instead!...no-one even knows we were trying!

So it all happened rather quickly as we decided we would start TTC in Jan and have fallen pregnant after only 2 weeks!

I think I'm about 7 weeks. I teach so haven't been able to go to the doctors til now. I am on my half-term hol this week and was hoping to go today, but getting an appointment is like squeezing blood out of a stone! Anyway - have got to queue up at 8am tomoro morning to be sure to be seen!

Slightly concerned I've left it a bit late for my first doctor's appointment to announce our hopeful arrival. Wot do y'all reckon? When do you go for your first scan anyway? Also, no real signs of being pregnant yet depsite bad cramps back in middle of jan and 3 posivitive tests! Feel a bit like i've made it all up!
xx

DillyDora · 16/02/2010 17:26

Hi Tootbelle - respect to you for being able to continue teaching, not lie down on the floor for a little snooze (actually my biggest fear is vomiting in front of students!).

Porridge...porridge, broccoli and cabbage (though not together) and bananas....and I hate bananas! I read somewhere about avoiding cabbage due to the ahem...gas... but I love it (the cabbage, not the gas!). Just not too sure that dh and the ladies in my yoga class feel the same. Be grateful we're only online here

Jazzie - did you succumb to the pizza?

xx

Hermya321 · 16/02/2010 17:27

I told work today, mind you once one person knows everyone does. Was expecting it to be a bit of a nightmare but in the end it was fine. I don't know what i was so worried about. I can sympathise with the cravings though. I'm going through pringles like they're going out of fashion at the moment.

DillyDora · 16/02/2010 17:44

Glad it went alright at work Hermya, hope I have the same experience as you there!
x

Tootbelle · 16/02/2010 18:01

mmm...marmite sandwiches! yum!

Not sure when i'm going to tell work - want to leave it as long as poss.
x

JazzieJeff · 16/02/2010 18:11

Hi DillyDora; Yes I told my bosses at work but only because I have to work with certain compounds in my job. So when everyone else is cleaning (the Navy is obsessed with cleaning), I just have to 'tidy up' or 'go and fetch a report'. They have to keep it a secret unitl I want to tell though. Telling them definately helped though because this way if I need to go out for air or if I need to get out of a potentially dangerous task, then I can and it's no questions asked. To be honest I'd rather have kept it to myself until 12 weeks, but I couldn't live with myself if I slipped off at a height and hurt little bean
Unfortunately, I'm caving in over the filthy pizza and cheesy chips in a pitta with ketchup. I tried eating toast and fruit, but it was so weird; they tasted weird in my mouth like my body was screaming at me to feed it with what it wants. Well, who am I to complain? I suppose once won't hurt; I don't even remember the last time I had a take away. DH is braving the rain though to get it for me though

DillyDora · 16/02/2010 18:22

Hi Jazzie - fair point! I'm like Tootbelle and want to leave it as long as I can and then just run in to the office of the woman I work most closely with and go:
'soanywayI'mhavingababysorryIknowit'sinconvenient' and run away!!! I am pathetic

Enjoy that take away - yay for DH in the rain. I'm about to stump off (also in the rain) to yoga. Luffley. Hoping that will help me sleep better - I'm not digging the insomnia thing or the cooooold!

Have a really lovely evening ladies!

Poppypuppy · 16/02/2010 19:43

There seem to be a lot of teachers on here! am dreading the nausea bit in case I have to rush out and leave my class, they'll climb the walls!

featherblue · 16/02/2010 21:26

Hi again, seems I spoke too soon ? AF reared her ugly head today, so it must have been a chemical pregnancy. Hopefully better luck this month.

Hope everyone has a happy and healthy nine months! x

sophieandbelly · 16/02/2010 21:57

Hermya321 · 17/02/2010 01:23

Well work was really great, everyone was super nice despite the fact that I'll be desk surfing for the next eon. The nausea is starting to kick up a gear now, only it's evening sickness. My breasts feel like they've got glass in them as well, ow!!!

Jazzie I had the same dilema, my job has aspects that could have led to harm befalling the munchin. I couldn't live with myself either if I did something to contribute to it's disapperance. I wanted to keep it quiet, but I went to work yesterday and panicked the entire day. I then spoke to someone at work and they said 'you have to tell them now' and well now the cat is well and truely out of the bag. It was fun to tell people though.

Tootbell The same thing happened to me, I thought it would take an age.

LadyThompson I've seen that one, it looks mega busy!! Do you suppose they'd mind if we stayed here? We could always rename ourselves to remain separate (thats if we want to though) maybe something appropriately amusing.

Also just to add to preg head symptons, I've forgotten how to drive a car properly. It's very very frustrating!!!

Pinkali37 · 17/02/2010 09:49

Hi All,

Had a blood test on Monday to check HCG level and got the result back last night. It was at 3,368 and am having a nother blood test today at 11am to ensure my levels are going up. Fingers crossed but they seem happy with the first level. Think i am 5 + 4 today?
