Is there a thread for the old birds who are pregnant and over 40?

I'm on a fab thread on the ttc section but am now 7 wks preg .

I know it's early days but I wondered if there was a thread on here for the older pregnant woman who might be experiencing all the same things as me.

God, I hope I'm not tempting fate by coming over from the ttc side!!!!!

Hello all. Can I join? I'm 43 and expecting DC2 early July, DS is 23 months. I left this motherhood lark all a bit late, but thoroughly enjoying it. Am still very nervous about coping with two though!

extremelychocolateymilkroll · 12/01/2010 22:46

Hi I'm 42. Had dd1 when I had just turned 40 - she is 2.5 and dd2 is due in February. Feeling fine in this pregnancy as I did with the last - apart from the sickness in the first 16 weeks which I suffered with both. I too agree that how you feel isn't necessarily determined by how old you are. I have quite a few younger friends who are pregnant who feel much worse than I do - still feeling sick or suffering from indigestion, difficulty in sleeping etc - all I feel is a bit tired. Wary about looking after 2 little ones and sleep deprivation but again I think this worries every mother of one dc expecting another. After some difficulty conceiving and a couple of miscarriages I just feel incredibly grateful to have one healthy child and fingers crossed another very soon.

hippychick66 · 13/01/2010 19:06

Heighho Completely forgot to say WOW twins. Not sure how i'd feel if i got that news . At least there were 2 strong heartbeats - that's good news.

I have been talking to a couple of ladies who have just miscarried (read their story and wanted to send my thoughts). Trouble is it just makes you so bl**dy paranoid.

I keep thinking how lucky I am to have had 2 healthy pregnancies and no MC's. I keep thinking is it my turn this time?? Sorry to be so negative, i just wanna get past this first bit - arrgghhh!

I don't have much nausea at all (but I didn't with the boys either). What I do have is copious amounts of wind . I either have terrible trapped wind pain or feel the need to fart at work - both of which I could do without.

Stinkypinky I used to be a childrens' party entertainer and my name was Stinky Pinky. The kids loved it!

How is everyone??

OP posts:
HeighHo · 13/01/2010 19:31

Thanks Hippy - am freaking out hugely slightly at how hard work it will be and all the increased risks in preg and labour, but obviously am delighted to see the heartbeats.

Mc is really worrying, isn't it, though the more you've had, statistically the more you'll have, so the odds are in your favour - good luck to all us in early pregnancy. Loved your wind information , made me laugh, thank you. Have not many symptoms, apart from extreme exhaustion which started about 10 mins after I heard I had twins inside!!

Shall we do a roll call to help my preg brain remember everyone??

HeighHo age 42, #4 and #5 (first time I've written that eek) due end of Aug, anything else we should add???

hippychick66 · 13/01/2010 20:38

Heighho Yes it is quite strange to see #4 & #5 written like that

I also thought a role call would be good so I could familiarize myself but didn't want to sound too bossy, eg. "I started this thread so now you all have to do what I say -[stamps foot].
But it is a fab idea, so lets do it.

Hello all, my DS is 20y and DD is 5y, this is my last all being well of course. Feeling ok so far other than tired but that could be my age and the fact my DD does get up on the odd night and also uncomfortable stretching pains.

Hi all
never posted on here before but have been finding so much helpful advice on lots of threads I thought it was probably time to stop lurking and finally join in.

I'm expecting my second at the end of August, DS is two, he was also a late August due date but arrived in early September, hope this one doesn't keep me waiting quite so long... also have three teenage stepchildren who are exhausting and extremely helpful in about equal measure!

Have been feeling far worse this time round, ended up at the EPU on Monday with quite severe pain, thankfully nice strong heartbeat on the scan - amazing to see so early on - so I'm feeling much more reassured, and rather hoping the totally different pg symptoms might mean this one's a girl.

hello lovelies,

So glad I found this thread, I too have been lurking about trying to find my feet on these new fangled forum thingies.
I am expecting my fourth the day after my eldest son's 22nd birthday in July. I have a daughter who is eighteen and another son who is three.
I seem to have spent this pregnancy in various states of terror due to my over active imagination!

Hello

I'd like to join you all in celebrating being 40 and pregnant. Technically I conceived at 39, but definitely 40 now Does that count?

Did get quite a few very shocked reactions from family and friends but this will be DS1 (for me at least, DH has a grown up DD). Due in May - v pleased to have made it to nearly 23 weeks.

I'm new to mumsnet too but wouldn't want to be pregnant without it.

Judging from my antenatal thread I've had no worse a time of it than anyone younger. I'm afraid I didn't even get any morning sickness - but I hear that happens sometimes. To be honest I'm thoroughly enjoying having a baby in my tummy so far. DH is excited too. Don't know why we left it so long.

Anyway, good to see I'm not going to be the only one pushing prams in my 40s.

HelishAngel · 14/01/2010 01:51

Hello

I will be 41 when I have dc3 in July.

I have 2 dd's who are 3.10 and 2.8.

So far I have found this pregnancy pretty exhausting!

I had been having tests to see whether I was having an early menopause before i found out I was pregnant, as my cycles were so long (about 60 days) - so I feel very, very lucky.

CoCoCakey · 14/01/2010 12:36

When my ds2 was a baby my dd would push him in the pram and she would call me Nana...ha-blimmin-ha!

mellifluouscauliflower · 14/01/2010 13:33

I am due next week (21st Feb). I am 42 and have a DS aged 5.

Good News, ladies. I have to report this pregnancy was easier than the last and no probs so far (fingers crossed).

I did go to the consultant (which they only do for over 40's & under 18's). I was the only one there without my Mum. My Mum (aged 75) did volunteer to come with me the next time

mellifluouscauliflower · 14/01/2010 13:33

Sorry..21st Jan..

nottslass · 14/01/2010 13:43

Can I join you ?

Me I'm 41 due date 26th jan with DC 3.will be 42 if bean is late, as my birthday is 5th Feb.

My first 2 are DS1 age 23 & DS2 7 !!!

Begining to wonder what I've let myself in for now.lol

feeling absolutely knackered now & can't wait for it to be over !!!!

karney · 14/01/2010 15:34

Count me in please.
I,m 41 and now 24wks with DC2. I have a DS who is just turning 17mnths.
My due date is 2nd May.
I have to say I,ve found this pg really difficult. Horrible Ms that hasn't gone away and tbh don't think it will until I give birth. Also absolutely knackered most of the time and v relutant to admit that it might be age related. Hate it when people suggest I wouldn't be as tired if I were younger . Anyway rather delighted at having another wee yin but I,m also petrified at times and wonder how I'll manage

rainbowdays · 14/01/2010 17:47

Nottslass - wow I have never met anyone else born on the same day as me!!!!!!

varmit · 14/01/2010 19:22

And another one!
I'm 42, 26wks with DC2. I have a DS who is 2.6
EDD 20/04/10 but having a planned C Section early due to previous issues with PE.

Pregnancy so far fine, but feeling huge, far bigger than last time, although I'm not sure I am really any bigger, maybe just finding it harder with a toddler to deal with. People keep telling me I'm having a girl, based on what I've no idea, maybe it's a kind way of saying I've spread out more this time!

Very nervous about sleep deprivation, last time I just slept when the baby did, but that's not an option now, so I'm expecting to be a walking zombie for the first few months.

Nice to see so many other 40+ mums on here.

PumaGirl · 14/01/2010 19:29

Hello!

Can someone add me to the list (total technophobe here!).

I'm 42 and expecting my first on March 31st.

Think I've had a fairly easy pregnancy so far - bit of morning sickness and extreme tiredness at the beginning was about it.

Lovely to find you all. Amazed that there are so many. I really did believe all the stories in the papers about it being nearly impossible to conceive if you are over, oh, 35. How wrong can you be? Have to say - feeling truly blessed.
