Is there a thread for the old birds who are pregnant and over 40?

I'm on a fab thread on the ttc section but am now 7 wks preg .

I know it's early days but I wondered if there was a thread on here for the older pregnant woman who might be experiencing all the same things as me.

God, I hope I'm not tempting fate by coming over from the ttc side!!!!!

First post- very nervous about putting it out there as I have 3 mc and an ectopic in the past, also told tubes blocked so no chance!! Now aged 43 am 9+ weeks. Have had 2 scans at 6 weeks and 8 weeks and all well but still worrying like mad!! CCould do with some positive vibes!!

Baby safely delivered at 37 weeks (due to Obstetric Cholestasis) on 5th November - she's the most delightful little thing. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Congrats Kiwi :)

Porth, we hope so, too!

Autumnjoy, it's difficult not to stress throughout the first trimester (and sometimes even during the rest of the 9 months), but eat/drink well and rest, rest, rest! (I took 4 hour naps every weekend my first 3 months). I also had a prolonged mc after trying for a year, but am now @ 24 weeks and feel healthier than ever in my lifetime (though rounder than usual).

KiwiKat-wonderful news!!! I suppose we'll be seeing you on new threads now! :)

Though over 40 and considered "high risk" by some, I've met more people who think it's rubbish to worry about our age, as long as we stay in great health!

Hi , I'm also 40, will turn 41 two weeks after this dd is due to arrive. Have two dc's aged 10 & 11 and struggled with instinctive urges and failed attempts to have a third for ten years! Now delightedly 28weeks pregnant.
It's so nice to hear some other older mums going through some similar experiences, tiredness, shortness of breath etc etc.

I'm so thrilled to be pregnant, and love nothing more than to sit and watch this little one as it wriggles around...just as well since sitting around seems to be all I'm capable of at the moment!! I wander if I'll ever recover my energy levels.

I've also been advised to be induced at 40 weeks, which my midwife feels is a little unneccessary but it's so hard to make a decision to go against consultant advice, when all you want is a safe birth. Not sure what I'll do but I'm hoping to be like looLOO and babe arrives before I'd need to decide.

I'd like to join this thread too. I'm 40 and 22 weeks pregnant with my fourth. This pregnancy has hit me for six. So so tired. Very different from the other 3 pregnancies. My blood tests have come back fine though so I'm just putting it down to being 40 with 3 kids already.

My doctor has not advised that I be induced just because of my age but then again I have the most 'natural' doctor in the world and I am planning a home birth as long as I stay low risk throughout the pregnancy. Had 2 homebirths before, the last birth was in hospital but now I'm living in Greece and birth is so medicalised here that you're considered completely crazy even considering it.

My doctor has advised, due to my tiredness, that I take spirulina and also half a teaspoon of molasses with either a citrus fruit or orange juice. The vitamin c helps absorb the iron.

I also suffered from thrush at around 14 weeks and she advised that i take MULTI ACIDOPHILOUS POWDER (solgar). I didn't believe it would work but it did and the thrush went away. Hope not TMI but thought it might help if anyone else is suffering with thrush. Never had it in previous pregnancies.

Brilliant news kiwi! Congratulations!!!

Hi all,

Just wanted to post some positive vibes. I've just had my first baby at 46 after 2 mcs and practically giving up hope. I had gestational diabetes so had a CS at 39 weeks due to my cherub's size. Nothing out of the ordinary with my pregnancy and my precious girl is gorgeous. I didn't find the medical professionals that supportive and they love scaring you to death with the potential risks as if we're not painfully aware of this! I did say that 'as you keep reminding me, I am 46 years old so perhaps you can stop patronising me and give me some respect and support' Ha ha - Congratulations and good luck everyone.

hippychick66 · 21/11/2010 17:52

Hi all. No I'm not pregnant again YET. But still trying. Just popped in to say congrats to those who've had their little ones. Especially you kiwi big hugs ((()))

Lots of positive stories on here for me to read as well. I have turned 44 since my last MC and I was getting a bit unsure whether to keep going but 1derful you have inspired me to keep going for a bit longer. Thanks.

Hope to see you all soon. XXX

Hi, I can't remember if I posted on here already or not (now that's being 40!) but I am expecting my first and am 23 weeks tomorrow.

Can I ask a couple of questions? Is it due to my age that I'm sometimes feeling uncomfortable with all the stretching going on inside? If I was younger would I feel it so much? Not that it matters, I'm just happy to be finally having a baby!

The other question is about the triple test. Will it always come back as a high risk due to our ages? I've vowed never to have another one if we should go for baby no2 as it was so stressful!

Many thanks and congrats to you Kiwi! Smile

Hello Xmas Smile

I love this thread but should be somewhere else! Can someone please give me the link for the over 40's TTC please. Can't find it (old age setting in) Xmas Hmm
Thanks!

Hiya! I know I don't belong on this thread (yet Grin), but could someone do one of those updates of who's still pregnant and who's Pupped? I'd love to see a list of 40+ladies who've pupped; it would give me a boost to keep on trying! (43 years old, one DS age 5, one MC Oct 2009)
Thank u!!
