Is there a thread for the old birds who are pregnant and over 40?

I'm on a fab thread on the ttc section but am now 7 wks preg .

I know it's early days but I wondered if there was a thread on here for the older pregnant woman who might be experiencing all the same things as me.

God, I hope I'm not tempting fate by coming over from the ttc side!!!!!

wow, welcome to thefatladyscreams, elena67, missedith01, onebyoneNOTfourbyfour!

Feel free to add yourself to the list.

Great to see other first timers on this thread. Are you, like me, wondering why you left it so long?

Elena, you're just a couple of weeks behind me and onebyone you're a couple of weeks ahead, so you must both be enjoying your bumps by now. Have you discovered gender yet?

and yes, sorry tigercub, meant to say i don't feel qualified to offer any advice re your situation. Do you have dc's already? Was there an obvious cause of recent MC?

hippychick66 · 06/02/2010 15:14

Hi to the newbies.

I'm planning to watch - One born every minute on channel 4 on Tuesday. Not sure I should cos I know I will sob hopelessly throughout and anything that goes wrong on the show I will immediately think that will happen to me - but i will not be able to NOT watch it. Anyone else in UK planning to watch?

ps. My 9 year old DS asked if he could watch but I said let me watch it first. I think it will be too graffic for him and also if anything bad happens to a baby he will panic about our baby.

Thanks, Schipo - haven't found out gender; we are trying to hold our nerve til D-Day but may weaken if we have a 3d scan in a few weeks! This may be a stupid question but... do I add myself to the list by cut-n-pasting the last one and adding myself in in a new message? Sorry if that sounds dense - I used to be quite smart til I got knocked up!!

Elena67, yes, that's really all you need to do, just copy and paste list and insert your details inline..

Hippychick - i'll be glued to screen on tuesday night...

So sorry to hear your news curly. You must be devastated. Hope you have lots of support around you.

On the flip side, well done to rainbow how lovely to have seen the heartbeat.

I've got my 12 week scan next week and it will be my first chance to see that this whole thing is real - I can't wait to see the heartbeat etc.

Hope everyone else is keeping well.

So Sorry to read your news Curlylox, will be thinking of you.

leolo · 08/02/2010 14:39

Can this really old bird join? I'm [whispers] 46 and 33 weeks pg. I have a 3 year old, born when I was 43. Never tried to conceive until I was 42 and in fact had only been with DH for 7 months... Still with him as well. Good luck to all the other 40 somethings who are pg. And for those of you who are starting again, take some encouragement from my personal statistics - there's life in them thar eggs for a while yet....

hippychick66 · 08/02/2010 19:16

Hi leolo. Can i be really nosey and ask if it was a natural conception please?

It's just that I still keep an eye on the ladies on the over 40's trying to conceive thread. There are a couple on there who are 44/45 and they would love some encouraging news. Oh by the way - welcome -

How were people when you told them you were pregnant? I felt an uncontrollable urge to tell everyone that I was 43 about 6 seconds after I told them I was preg - I just couldn't help myself.

Maybe you're not so hung up about your age as I am - which would be a good thing!

My news is - I got more stuff for my thrush today and am counting down the minutes until I can put the flippin' pessary in.

ande · 08/02/2010 20:33

Hi all! I look up this (our) thread everyday and never really know what to say.
Anyway, I mentioned this to one of DDs today (17yrs) and she said "Have you told them you are having a boy this time, and we are all (not so) secretly pleased cos us girls are princesses enough"

"Nope, still getting my head round it. A baby along with you twins doing A levels and "little one" (of 11)verging on puberty."

To which DD (17) said, "I'm having a sweatshirt printed with THIS IS MY BROTHER (On front) and NO (on the back)"

Didn't know whether to laugh or cry.......

Hope everybody is well.

ande X

thefatladyscreams · 09/02/2010 11:36

Hi everyone.

Oh curlylox - I'm so sorry for your loss. It's so hard. Hope you're getting loads of support. Take care.

Schipo - your comment was spot on. Yes I'm wondering why I left it so late and I really don't know where the last couple of years has gone. It's just zipped past.

Hippy - thanks for the biscuits (always appreciated!) and for your thrush. You're having quite a time with that at the moment aren't you?

Rainbowdays - good news re your scan - hearing the heartbeat is a great sign . My doctor has suggested I get an early scan at 10 weeks so I'm just trying to pluck up the courage to register with the midwife again (miscarried last year shortly after seeing her so not the best mental association). Plus I feel my symptoms are fading which is what happened at this stage last time - apologies for being such a misery gut!

Leolo - fantastic - your story has really inspired me.

Ande - your DD's comment is brilliant!

AlbaDeTamble · 12/02/2010 09:13

Can someone take me off the list please (mrscrabby), mmc last week . New name now for fresh start...

Have had an awful time, but at the hospital the consultant's confidence in 'next time' did help, so I'm trying to keep that in mind, stay positive and hope to be back before you've all had your babies and moved on!

Best wishes to all for sticky beans and boring pregnancies - I was so happy to read all well with you rainbowdays, so encouraging to hear good news. Will be popping in occasionally (lurking...) to read happy stories if that's ok...

shinysideup SmileyMylee,Liahgen,Curlylox MrsCrabby - sorry to hear your news. , take care of yourself.

leolo - Hello and welcome to the oldies section. Congratulations on your pregnancy. And thank you for making me feel young

Ande - In my family we have a big gap between my sister and I and our "baby" brothers. My sister was often mistaken for the mother and our dad for the "grandad" !! We found it amusing too!

hippychick66 · 12/02/2010 14:54

Hi, you can take me off the list too. Started bleeding a couple of days ago and went for scan today. No heatbeat, they think it stopped at about 8 weeks.

Please don't let this scare you. I'm told it's rare - despite so many on this thread.

Mrscrabby This is totally awful - isn't it.

I am gonna drink so much wine tonight.

Dh has gone to get our boys from school. The worst part in all this is telling them.

Take care ladies, I'll check in on you again.

thefatladyscreams · 12/02/2010 17:21

So sorry MrsCrabby and hippy. My heart goes out to you both. Take really good care of yourselves - it's such a horrible experience.

thefatladyscreams · 12/02/2010 17:25

PS - MrsCrabby - I think you have found the TTC after m/c thread. It has been a real life saver for me. Hope it gives you the support you need.

Hippy - I know it's probably too early days but if you do feel like trying again, it's full of really useful info on trying to work out your next cycle etc.

Sorry for the practical post (really hope it's not insensitive) - but I found it the day after my m/c and it did help me loads. xxx

TFLS have posted a question for you on the other thread.

Hippy - have just answered it.

Feel free to email me on thefatladyscreams @ hotmail.co.uk if you want to talk about anything offline.

AlbaDeTamble · 12/02/2010 18:24

hippy I'm so so sorry, was sure it was all going to go well for you. It's just so tough to get through, I found the TTC after mc thread a week ago and they have been incredibly kind and helpful, holding my hand through the worst days.

Take good care of yourself, v un-MN, but big hug, I know I needed plenty - my heart goes out to you.
