Oh Cadmum, we're here to rant at!!
Sorry to hear your family are ill at the mo, not the thing you need, when you also feel sick, and need someone to lean on, just don't forget we're here!
How come the schools are so bad? whereabouts in Ca are you again? are there no others nearby you could get them into?
Here's hoping ds shakes the bug soon, and that dh gets to come home to you soon xx

Well I'm kinda enjoying a week on my own, as it were, dh is away at work, so it's just me, dd and bump! well on Monday am it was ss as well, which was lucky, as he was able to stear dd away, whist I hung gagging over the loo, so just as I thought it had all gone away it came back with a vengence, so much for being 13 weeks eh!, ss was great, kept coming to check on me and see if he could get me water or anything, dd in the meantime, just laughed and pointed at me!!! anyway still managed not to be sick, as literally nothing in my stomach...ho hum.....

Frizbe · 24/08/2005 19:40

crikey where are you all today! hope your all hanging in there, or out now as it were! I'm off away again tomorrow, so will see you all after the weekend, have a good one!

Cadmum · 24/08/2005 19:40

Thanks Friz. I actually felt better after my rant. I just hope I haven't scared everyone else away...

The school situation is a bit odd but basically we live in a new area that has no school (yet) and the nearest ones are doing really poorly. (23% of grade 3 students read at a grade 3 level for example.) The proposed solution for my children was that they should enter a grade one year ahead of their peers (partly because school doesn't start as early here as in the UK) but the main issue in these schools in discipline and I don't really fancy my children being the youngest in their year and being threatened by their 'peers'.

If I were not pregnant, I would simply move to New York but health care in Canada is similar to NHS and US system is a complete unknown and quite expensive until DH has a permanent position.

Congrats on being 13 weeks. Can't really believe that I am nearly 12. Scan tomorrow a.m. (2 p.m. UK time) so I will post details and perhaps even a picture if things go really well.

Romilly: How are you? Too sick to post? We are nearly at the end of the awful part and then we just get bigger and bigger!

I wonder how much fun DQ is having? I worrried about her when I saw all of the strike misery with BA out of Heathrow the day she left but I guess that she must have made it to Portugal or we would all know by now.

Take care of yourselves.

Cadmum · 24/08/2005 19:42

Frizbe: Posts crossed. there has been a distict echo on here since your reply to my rant. I hope I didn't scare everyone off...

Cadmum · 24/08/2005 19:43

Oh! Have a lovely week-end. I didn't know that you were off. Where are you headed? Can I come?

romilly · 24/08/2005 20:44

Cadmum - firstly can i say its great to have you back. secondly - no you havent scared anyone off, everyone is away ; DQ in portugal, george in st. ives, friz away for the weekend, so that just leaves nemo, munz and i - and i have been mostly feeling sorry for myself and hanging out in the bathroom all week! personally i think you sound incredibly brave, and something of a super-woman: dont know how i would cope with as much as you have on your plate at the moment. i will be thinking of you tomorrow for your scan honey, do come and let us know how it all went. i have mine next tuesday and munz is the day after me. my main worry is managing to drink a litre of water beforehand without being sick on the table! oh, and i hate hate hate the bladder bursting bit!

wish i could come up with some advice for you cadmum re:the schools and stuff, but cant pretend i know the answer. i do however think you need to think of yourself over the next 8 months and even wondered if it is possible for you to move closer to better schools in canada? maybe that is not financially viable, but there must be some sort of compromise.

anyone else getting the dreaded heartburn already? i have it really badly right now and i havent even eaten for hours. weird.

Cadmum · 24/08/2005 20:58

Thanks Romilly...

I sure know what you mean about the 1 litre of H2O without being sick... Is it even possible? I found it really bad at my first scan because I was also SO nervous about the whole thing. As for tomorrow, I have to scramble all four of us out the door tomorrow by 8:00 am to take the chidren to a friend's house to play so hopefully I will be too busy to feel sick.

I will let you all know how it goes... Oh, the nerves. I could just puke thinking about it. (That may just be a standard state of affairs for 11 weeks, 4 days pg. though.)

I am NOT a super-woman. FAR from it! I am crazy. I never would have imagined that my life would turn out to be so chaotic. Guess I just need to roll with the punches for the next few months.

As far as a move within the city you not the first person to suggest such a practical solution. DH drags his heels a little on this plan because we are renting from a friend of a friend and it will be nearly impossible for him to find new tenants. (Silly reason to stay somewhere that is less than suitable, I know.) I am not sure that I can bear the thought of another move (especially with my head stuck in the loo for most days lately) because we have only been here since late January as it is...

Blah, blah... The friend who is caring for my children is looking for a house in her neighbouhood as we speak and she is not taking NO for an answer so I may have to start packing.

More tomorrow following my dreaded scan.

munz · 25/08/2005 08:23

jesus - 1LT of water??? I idn't realise it was that much, I was gonna (try) not to pee first thing when I get up then drink a few glasses but not 1 ltr??? oh god oh god!

used doppler last night the bebe ones - I thought I heard 2 heart beats, but DH didn't hear anything - MEN!! lol, but I think those ones take a while for the heart to be heard it says 20 weeks - so not sure what I heard, was v v odd thou listening to the contents of my tummy! lol.

anyhow best have a shower and pop back later on at work.

romilly · 25/08/2005 12:30

morning munz, morning cadmum - where are you nemo?

cadmum: well, i guess you will be awake very early today, and glugging down that H20. am thinking of you x
with regard to your property situation, i must admit i dont think you should be putting your d/h's friend's rental needs first at a time like this! am glad to hear you have a sensible friend who will not take no for an answer and is looking out for you.

munz - one more day to go 'til the big 12 week milestone i have stayed away from dopplers so far, i was tempted to get one, but mr.rom said he thought it was a bad idea, cause i would be listening to it the whole time and it is messing around with ultrasound after all. i am sure they are safe, but i think i would go into a huge panic if i couldnt find the heartbeat and that may be more stressful than reassuring. frankly the constant puking up is enough to keep me feeling pg. at the moment, lol

Cadmum · 25/08/2005 12:59

I am drinking my last 25 cl of water as I type. WE are all about to head out the door. I wish I could hit a fast-forward button on today. Can't wait for it to be all over (and to think that I have another scan next Wednesday...)

I am confused about due dates because the GP gave me the 10th but you are 12 weeks on Friday and so am I...(DH wasn't even home until Friday so there can be no mistake about that part )

I will let you know how the scan went some time this afternoon because I am having lunch with the friend who is caring for our children.

romilly · 25/08/2005 13:04

cadmum - munz and i are 10th march too, for some reason i thought you were a little later but isnt that great, we are all exactly the same.

munz · 25/08/2005 13:20

i'm 11th rom - well m/w said 10th on my cycles, 11th on a 'normal' 28 days cycle - odd! lol.

good luck cadmum with ur scan fingers crossed for u. calm down u, and try not to stree so much about timing etc.. (althou I do this too! lol) agree with rom fraid on u're housing situation - I mean it's what's best for u and the family nto the house being empty really. and u just come on here and chat away when ever you want to, we don't care what it's about, I know what it's like to be on ur own with no adults to talk with, MN is a god send at those tiems I found. hope you're little boy picks up soon.

rom - how's the holidays? can't wait either 1 day to go then can do some BD'ing again! lol

munz · 25/08/2005 13:26

rom - now when tomorrow comes u're to get ur boney little bottom over to the due in march thread - or i'll hound u till u do! lol.

cadmum - we're be there with u in thoughts for the scna even if not in body, as i'm sure u're DH will be as well

Cadmum · 25/08/2005 18:27

Yippee! Everything went well. The sonographer was so nice to me she reassured me that she would let me know one way or another as soon as she could see movement or a heartbeat. Baby was lovely and cooperative as she was moving all over the place as soon as the picture came up on the screen. (Quite a posh clinic actally as there was a screen on the wall in front of me as well as the tv like one in front of the sonographer.)

Heart rate was 156 hence my cheeky 'she' above. DSs were never abover 140 but maybe they are just lazy boys...

Thank you so much for being supportive when I am clearly a basket-case.

Roll on this time next week when I will have seen the high-risk consultant and I will know more about possible ways to avoid another second trimester miscarriage.

dyzzidi · 26/08/2005 09:13

Congratulations cadmum.

I am sorry I have been an infrequent visitor to this thread but I have only just had my 21 wk scan yesterday and i have been apprehensive about things up until then.

Well..... The baby is fine!!!! It's a Girl. For the first time last night I slept for a full nights sleep. I was so worked up about things not being OK that I actually sobbed as we left the scan room with relief.

I go away to get married on Wednesday so I'm sure that the stress of that has made things worse. But do you know what I don't care about anything today. I'm having a healthy little girl and the rest of it doesn't matter one iota

I had to share it with you and hope to catch up with you all properly when I get back of holiday. I will be around today but then thats it. Three weeks off for me

Nemo1977 · 26/08/2005 09:21

Nemo I hope you are OK. Don;t let things get you down too much!

I still hope to meet you if I can finally get to one of these meetups.

16 weeks to go thats just such a short space of time! At least your DS is giving you a bit of a break at the minute.

romilly · 26/08/2005 10:57

cadmum: fantastic news about the scan. now you can hopefully try and relax and enjoy this pregnancy some more.

nemo - only 16 weeks! wow, i cant believe how quickly that seems to have gone, not for you i'm sure. sorry to hear you have been a bit down and you have financial worries (join the club!) i totally hear you - it is a worrying time, but you'll be fine, you'll see.

dyzz - great to hear from you again. glad you are now feeling happier about it all. when is your wedding?

nemo - u ok honney? (((hugs))) glad u're now on 24 weeks, not long to go over half way.

dyzzidi · 26/08/2005 13:04

Hi Munz

the names I like nobody else in the family seems to!

I like Piper, Brooke and Drew. And if the truth be known I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks.

munz · 26/08/2005 13:07

Hay.

ooh yes we did have drew, but only for a girl, as we've picked middle names (paul for a boy after GD's and sally for a girl after my aunty who died) so for a boy called drew the initals would be DPM and as DH is in the army he said it would be mean to call a child that - he looks at what the initals spell first!

lol@ur work - were they men by any chance?

dyzzidi · 26/08/2005 13:14

Yes I work in a really male environment and have told more than 30 men this morning on the phone!

I have also emailed nearly everyone I know and told the lady in the sandwich shop.

Not that I am at all excited or anything

munz · 26/08/2005 13:19

lol aww blees yay - see that's why they think u're mad i'm sure men just don't understand, they're not programmed 'our' way are they! lol. I admitt to telin one of our postmen!
