kktpj not mad at all! I got pregnant with my first at 39, had him in June. I was 40 in February.

As mrsb said, we're moving over to chat, but you're welcome to come be pregnant over there!

OMG I think A has this afternoon nap thing sussed! Put him down half asleep at 1:45. He woke up at 4:00!! I used my time wisely by trying out a new game I am thinking of buying and reading MN!

johnworf · 05/09/2009 19:36

What a day Madam would not sleep. No. She was adamant she would not. Her teeth are really troubling her. 4 top ones through and 4 bottom through. All at different stages of coming through ...some are still just cutting.

Bloody hell. She's done nothing but whine and fall over with tiredness, hitting her head a couple of times in the process. Good job the tube of arnica arrived today. Finally got her off to sleep using the tried and tested 'drive her around in the car' method. I'm ready for bed myself!

Right, we moving tonight? Just move the bed with me in it. Don't forget to leave a note for the milkman

Welcome ktpj. You're not mad. I had a 17 year gap between my last and my youngest who is now 15 months old

bonzo I fancy trying the hummous recipe but only myself and K actually like hummous. I'll wait until my older ones are round and test drive it on them

mrsboogie · 05/09/2009 19:44

what's the thread going to be called?? whatever it is we should stick with it so that people like Mrs Jupiter can find it us...

ermintrude are you there? please put that literary brain to some use and think of a name for our new home!!

jw can you please tell me how you made that slideshow for K's 1st birthday? - want to make one to send to D's grandparents...

/starts removing lightbulbs and switches

mrsboogie · 05/09/2009 19:47

oh and jw your day sounds like our last week. You have my sympathies. D would cry at the drop of a hat. And it coincided with him developing separation anxiety. The not sleeping is awful. Not fun!

johnworf · 05/09/2009 20:03

Yeah mrsb. It's not fun. Good job we love 'em to bits.

I made the slideshow using One True Media website. It's free. It's very easy to use and you can add your own music and fit your slideshow to the length of the track.

jeanjeannie · 05/09/2009 21:35

Evening all. Did someone mention separation anxiety...?? MMmm, yes, Verity has just decided she'll add that as her new thing to annoy mummy with

jw oh wow - K can certainly put off sleeping That's pretty hardcore - having to get into the car.

ktpj nah - not mad....just different! Although it's us 40 somethings that are apparently part of this big rise in the birth rate. I didn't start till I was 41 and now at 43 (just, by the skin-of-my-teeth) I've got two under 3! Mind you - it's done nothing for my skin or figure

Let's move tomorrow. Good, fresh start to the week. Personally I really like duchess's Roaring 40s title. I think that sort of thing would sound 'snappy' in Chat.

Oh I don't know, something along the lines of "The Roaring 40s- old is the new young

Yes, where is erm when you need a nice turn of phrase?!

Stormfly · 05/09/2009 22:00

Ah, there you are. Have just managed to catch up all 800-odd messages and you are on the move! I shall continue to drop in on you all in Chat and see how you are all doing. Lovely to see new sprogs from Duchesse and Neddie - many well-deserved congratulations to you both!

Good luck in your new home - remember to redirect the post. Roaring Forties sounds good to me.

johnworf · 06/09/2009 07:19

I think it's morning but I'm not sure. We've all been up most of the night with K throwing herself around and screaming in pain with her teeth. All very tired at Worf Towers

I wish I had a witty one liner but brain is out of order at the mo. I'll await instructions of forwarding address

Tee2072 · 06/09/2009 08:46

Morning all.

Typical night here. Up at 3 then up at 6. After which he fell right back to sleep until 7 as soon as his bottle was ready . Tomorrow I am going to rock the Amby at 6 and stick a dummy in his mouth and see if I can get him to sleep until 7!

Sounds horrid JW. I hope you all can get some kip today and a quiet night tonight.

Let's see...new thread title...40+ Mummies...We have wisdom and beauty.(?)

johnworf · 06/09/2009 09:33

tee it's not pleasant, no. Obviously worse for K as she's got the teething pain and not us. I'll just be glad when they're all properly through.....then it'll prolly be time for the next lot to start

I doubt I'll get a nap today. I'm a 'once I'm up, I'm up' kinda girl. I'll just go to bed early tonight. I've put her in her cot and she's just gone to sleep after half an hour of screaming, which probably translated as 'get me outta here!' while rubbing her eyes. Anyhoo, left her to it and she finally went to sleep. Gave me chance to catch up on cleaning the floors of this hovel. I got some bees wax y'day and did the dining room table. Come up a treat and smells strangely like an old person's house

DH is also still sleeping so I'll catch up on y'days newspapers - not had a chance to look at these properly - and grab a cup of coffee

jeanjeannie · 06/09/2009 10:17

Gosh jw that sounds awful...she really is struggling with them poor thing

stormfly good to hear from you - please do pop by for cake and chat in our new abode. We'll all obviously have to pitch in with ideas about decor!

OK - we're running out of space and we'll probably need a few reminders on there...so shall I just jump in??? I'm off out to a family party at mid-day....so i could do it before then..?? I shall go away...think about it and then come back....and do it!

Do you think we need visas?

johnworf · 06/09/2009 10:34

Aye JJ. Not great.

Not sure re visas Depends if we're crossing over to the darkside ......just leave us some clues and a map/compass. Like orienteering.

dawntigga · 06/09/2009 11:23

jw will send you my mobile number through facebook!

We are nowhere near as snotty as we were so we'll be there!

JustTiggaTiggaxx

johnworf · 06/09/2009 11:35

Ok dawntigga. Glad you're not snotty!

I'm at the dentist with DSS for his check up prior to leaving so 12.30 sounds good to me. I'm already dreaming of the healthy options available to me. Mainly double choc muffins and lattes. I could probably live on both of those items.

Tee2072 · 06/09/2009 12:29

Did we figure out a new name? Is JJ starting the new thread?!?

I go to have a lovely bath and I don't know what's going on! sob sniff

Okay, over it.

Off to the shops. I imagine new thread when I get back?

jeanjeannie · 06/09/2009 12:36

OMG - I'm SO sorry - I've been totally snowned nder with getting organised for htis wedding party....so sorry. Someone else is going ot have to do it or we'll run out of space. Sorry chaps...sorry Byeeee....running really late and had to make food for it...whah!

Tee2072 · 06/09/2009 13:36

Why are we panicking? We have 108 posts until the thread closes!!!

johnworf · 06/09/2009 13:52

tee I thought we had loads of posts too. I'm sure even we can last until tomorrow to move over to chat. I just thought it was my tiny brain not computing!

JJ have a nice time at the wedding

ermintrude13 · 06/09/2009 15:35

was just about to post but a has woken up, will do it later and try to think of a name meantime...

dawntigga · 06/09/2009 17:23

How about:

Living proof the Daily Mail rarely (if ever) gets it right

We should star right of its radar then

ermintrude13 · 06/09/2009 20:00

Hi All

We had a great time yesterday at a lovely stylish wedding party featuring more types of cake to sample than I can hope to list, but including a wedding cake in 3 layers: ginger, choc and Victoria sponge; New York cheesecake; meringue with creme patissiere; carrot cake with orange cream cheese frosting; rich chocolate squares; brownies; almond polenta cake and mini muffins with twice their height in icing rosettes. I didn't manage to get through them all after the large amounts of Italian deli buffet I'd eaten, and the sweeties from jam jars I'd got the DC to swipe for me but I didn't do badly... .

Then spent most of today preparing my speech and visual aids (mostly doctored enlarged photos) for my sister's wedding next week. Phew!

New title: I'm really not as good as snappiness as lots of you guys. Ummm,
'Life begins at: 40+ Mums and Mums-to-Be - If you remember The Clangers come and drop some here.'
(bit UK-biased?)

Something about being 'Broad-minded, broad-shouldered and mostly broad in the beam'

or 'come share your wit, wisdom and world-weariness with other 40+ mums and mums-to-be.'

Gawd, I dunno.

jeanjeannie · 06/09/2009 20:14

We're back too! Sorry ladies....someone slap me (queue forms)....I thought we only had till 900 posts Moi get hysterical?!

erm Oh wow - all those cakes! Sounds like my kinda wedding. Sorry, I 've clearly been on planet Zod and didn't realise your sis was getting married. Ooooo, is it a big affair...? A cake spectacular?

Our wedding thing today was very low-key...in a park in Surrey. We made lots of nice food and when we got there it seemed the least friendly people in the whole of the county were there to meet us....all having bought pre-packed food Mind you it was a no drinking/no dancing strict Creationist gathering Humour-filled isn't a word I'd use to describe it

erm I quite like a mix of the Roaring 40s alonng with the Wit, wisdom and Weariness!

hedgepig · 06/09/2009 20:29

evening all.

Bs party went well (it was very small so I wasn't stressed) small is definitely the way to goi I have decided. Then another friend and her DD came round to bounce on the bouncy castle before the man came to take it away.

JJ when you say our wedding thingy have you got married and not told us????

I am a bit this evening we have finally moved O out of our room I feel quite tearful he is only in the next room, it is all a bit bizarre.

Mice toys MrsB, I think O will get very little as we have all the toys B has ever had stored in the loft. I have no room for anything else.

johnworf · 06/09/2009 20:35

JJ your day sounds like if you had a choice between attending that or poking your eyes out with a rusty fork, your hand would be reaching for the cutlery drawer......

Did I read correctly that you took your own food? And did I also read correctly that the other guests brought pre-packed food? Would that be like packets of peanuts....M&S cheese and pickle sandwiches.....cheese strings...packet of back bacon??? I've heard of downsizing, credit crunch, no frills, but come on!

I'd rather go to ermintrude's party. Now that is what you call a cake fest. I bet there wasn't a battenburg in sight either

My brain is functioning on a low light due to lack of sleep. I've been trying to think of something witty and sharp for new thread but it's not forthcoming.

johnworf · 06/09/2009 20:38

hedgepig glad the party went well. Don't worry about O, he's only moved next door and you'll soon get used to having a bit more space in your bedroom. K went in her room months ago. She used to grunt, sigh, groan etc as most prems do and it was keeping us awake. We keep the door wedged open slightly and the monitor on (sometimes) but we can hear her when she yells

Keeping the door slightly ajar is for my benefit only and I still check on her about 50 times before I get into bed
