Up at 4am. Not with K but the alarm across the road going off and the people are away. It was an hour before the son turned up to turn the bloody thing off. I, by then, was wide awake. Lord only knows how K slept through it all.

Glad that first day went well ermintrude.

Where is JJ and mrsb?

They wonder why so many women give up BF and give out stupid advice like that.

duchesse · 04/09/2009 09:41

I added a new pic to my profile last night. We have a few computer problems at the moment so I haven't been able to put a totally wireless baby one yet- they're still on the camera. This one was taken the day before she came home, before she pulled out the feeding tube.

what a cutie pie she is Duchess really alert looking. Another good night, have we turned the corner I am crossing everything.

Neddie · 04/09/2009 10:46

Hi all
Just catching up a little but can't sit for too long as CS was hideous (long story)-I never thought I'd say it but the best delivery was the one I had without anything but gas and air!
Thanks Rumplumpsoggybaps for updating my MN friends on here and therefore avoiding much nailbiting. We have been through a lot together (mainly drinking at the student union bar when we were 18). Glad you liked the names, Cerys was a last minute alteration and Rowan just popped into my head. They are constantly feeding and crapping but lovely.Thank you for your kind congrats and also congrats to Duchesse on her safe production (nearly at the same time as me!)
Must go have just heard that familiar sound of something being pushed at force through a piping bag (if you know what I mean).
Love Neddie.
ps have lost 20 lb in one go!

mrsboogie · 04/09/2009 11:44

oh neddie you take care - you can tell us about the c/s when the mists of time have drawn a veil over the whole thing...

we had an All Night Sleep!! Hurrahhh

off work today - squeezing one last day onto the end of the holiday period - mostly doing stuff around the house and possibly going out to lunch and to see District 9 with DP. Saw the trailer for it last week at the cinema and thought it looked v good.

D just been transported to grnadma's - kindly having him today while we are doing stuff. Weather has just turned shit here though so we will have to see how it goes...

erm glad all went well with the return to school. Meant to say yesterday your wee man looks a very happy chap and very gorgeous in his biker tee shirt!!

love the pics duchesse

have we got any pregnant ladies left now ?? who are still posting? is it tie to move, finally? how will Mrs Jupiter find us? so many questions...

Happy Anniversary tee!!! well done on the appropriate, thoughtful and welcome present!! We don't see that too often...

jeanjeannie · 04/09/2009 12:32

Just a quickie stop by as friday's are difficult...I try to pack in the chores and go out with Verity while Iris is at nursery.

duchesse gorgeous pics - good to hear you're doing well.

neddie!! I'm sorry the CS was a mare Am loving the lost 20lbs in one go! Hope your recovery goes better from now on and check in and let us know how you're all doing.

Tee sounds like you've done rather well out of 5 years of marriage Have a nice day.

erm good to hear school was ok and yes, your new pic is lovely....cheeky chappy grin.

dawntigga I despair of advice to BF mothers - I really do

jw you didn't get up and smash alarm with your handbag then.

Right must away tp pick up monster#1. Our usual 6 min journey to nursery was this morning a crushing 45 mins

Oh and mrsB I think we should go to chat...it's one of the most popular message boards so anyone needing to find us will probably not have a problem
WHat do you all reckon?? x

duchesse · 04/09/2009 12:33

Happy anniversary Tee. It's ours as well today- 16 years in our case! We're hoping to go out for a pub lunch, just the three of us (DH, the Bug and me) if the midwife gets here before they stop serving. Cafe Rouge in town otherwise...

OP posts:
johnworf · 04/09/2009 12:48

JJ we're coming up for a new thread soon so guess we can move ourselves to chat. We've officially no pregnant ladies left anyway (unless someone has a secret they want to share? )

I'm easy for the meet (no change there). Obviously Slattery's is top of my list though but I wouldn't want to predjudice anyone

Just had a shop in H&M and got K's winter stuff sorted. Oh, they have some nice stuff in there and I had to restrain myself.

mrsb have fun whatever you do this afternoon sans bubs. V . Our turn out next Sunday for Dave Gorman, and the tickets came this morning so there's no going back now Niece said she was off to see either Inglorious Basterds or the Peter Jackson one today so might get a verdict before she leaves on Sunday for uni.

We're having a fun afternoon talking business Oh deep joy.

Woulnd't have been able to reach the alarm JJ as it was a house alarm and my little legs wouldn't have allowed me to reach it. I do know that most of the road was awake with us as I saw a man with a torch doing investigations. I'm really tired today though Tiredness and PMT are a heady mix and DH has taken himself off as far away from me as possible.

tee happy belated anniversary. Or should that be well done for the enduring compromises?

johnworf · 04/09/2009 12:48

duchesse she's a doll

dawntigga · 04/09/2009 12:56

Meet up - I'll go along with a majority decision but if I'm still snotty I won't go as I won't risk passing germs to jw and then onto k! I should however be well by then.

I have decided to go with steam when Sam is to snuffly for my comfort and lots of bed rest - yay for only having the one

Some of you may recall my stay in hospital to have Sam was not the best. I wrote a 9 page complaint letter and now the head of mifwifery[sp?] is coming to see me next Tuesday. That could have something to do with the fact I sent the letter to the Chief Executive, the head of Maternity, the head of Paediatrics and Unicef (they are applying for baby friendly status). jw as I know you have experience on this kind of thing - anything I should be looking out for?

Tee2072 · 04/09/2009 12:56

Happy Anniversary duchesse!

We were going to go to Paris for our 5th, then A came along, so instead we're getting an Indian and having a bottle of wine that we received as a gift from the owner of the vineyard in Tuscany where DH's sister got married last year. He gave it to us as we were leaving after the wedding!

neddie good to hear from you! Sounds like the tins are doing okay.

I think maybe we should keep this thread in Pregnancy. I probably wouldn't have found it last year if it had been in chat. That way we'll attract more pregnant 40+ers!

BonzoDoodah · 04/09/2009 15:19

Hey all

I'm happy to meet anywhere but if Floria is going to the TC anyway and DawnTigga finds it easier ... and the TC is a lot closer for me too - then shall we meet in the TC this time and then Slatterys next time? I will email jw and Dt my mobile number and I presume Floria will have JW's already. I don't know where to meet as I've only been to the TC twice - and cried both times .... I'll be parking by John Lewis as I know where that is and hopefully will avert a nervous breakbdown. What time? I can get there for any time after 1pm.

Happy anniversaries Tee and Duchesse and HOW cute is baby M Duchesse??!!

johnworf · 04/09/2009 15:35

Hi all,

I can come to TC but as I said, K will be staying at home

dawntigga please remind me why you are making a complaint - sorry, my head is made of jelly. Or prod my brain when I see you on Monday and I can talk to you face to face. Much better I'll give you any pointers that I can.

tee yeah, babies tend to put a stop to any partying We went to Paris a couple of years ago. It wasn't romantic in the slightest...I would hate to go with my DH again. Maybe I can borrow yours instead

neddie great to hear that the tins are doing so well; in one end and out the other is a sure sign they are thriving Pics please!

jeanjeannie · 04/09/2009 15:55

Ooooo, Paris...I LOVE Paris. Even if it was for work (which it usually was) I adored the place. sigh

duchesse I hope you got your lovely anniversary lunch out

dawntigga I lodged a formal complaint after my DD1 was born...a catalogue of horrors culminating in me having such a huge infection that i contracted a rare form of arthritis because of it. I got called in......it was gruelling but cathartic and I got a written apology from the board Oh - and I don't know how i feel about this but I had one incident that was so serious that it resulted in a midwife being suspended and, after an enquiry, (where other things came to light) she was the first midwife at the hosppital in a decade to be fired So you can ask me what they're likely to ask. My only tip would be write down the experience - in bullet points - in a logical order and keep it with you.

Off to placate wailing children

Tee2072 · 04/09/2009 17:32

Oops. I'm the one who told dawntigga it was JW who got a midwife fired. I guess it was JJ.

I read dawn's letter for her before she sent it. Really scary stuff. Glad you got a response dawn and hope you get some satisfaction!

I am going to be writing the NHS a letter of complaint myself. I've been trying to get to see psychiatrist since before I gave birth. My GP sent a referral letter in like April or May of this year for this. I never got an appointment, so I thought, until I got a copy of a letter sent to me from my GP claiming they sent me two appointments that I missed. Yeah, no, never happened. My GP is pissed. As I pointed out to her, one of the days they claim they made an appointment for me? A's due date. So like I'm not going to ring the second I get such a letter to reschedule?!?!?

Apparently they've centralized all mental health services in Belfast and its been horrid ever since. I'm now suppose to be getting a call from someone at psych my GP talked to today to set up an appointment either next week or the week after.

dawntigga · 04/09/2009 18:42

jj thanks for that

jw will bring the letter on Monday.

ThanksEversoTiggaxx

mrsboogie · 04/09/2009 18:46

evenin all

District 9 was fab!!!!!!!!!!!

...if you like

mrsboogie · 04/09/2009 18:51

sorry posted prematurely there

...if you like sci- fi and don't mind people getting spectacularly shot up. Which I don't.

I could make a habit of going to the cinema during the day.

I do get the point about attracting more 40+ pregnant ladies if we stay here but are they not likely to want to chat to other pregnant ladies on a pg thread? they might run away of they find us lot lurking here without a bump between us....

*wonderwitch is still pg but we haven't seen her for a long time.

right, time for the return of the little man...

johnworf · 04/09/2009 19:03

mrsb glad you had a nice afternoon.

tee what a cock up re appointments. How can they get it wrong....twice?

wonderwitch is still around on FB. Saw her lovely 4D pics of her little boy

K has only had 1 hour sleep today and she's so overtired She's screaming her lungs out in her cot even though her eyes are drooping with tiredness It's been one of those days.

H&M clothes sizes are something else. The 12 month old stuff is HUGE! Has anyone else found this or is it just me? Some of the clothes I got for K were 6-9 months as they'd fit her.

ermintrude13 · 04/09/2009 20:24

Tee how crap, hope they admit their mistakes and get you an appt soon.

Happy wedding anniversary to you too Duchessee! We celebrated our 15th just a few days after baby was born so it was very low-key. But a little fizzy wine was drunk.

JW Haven't got many H&M baby clothes but find their toddlers and upwards spot on. My sisters love shopping there so I'm sure I'll find out about their sizing around Christmas time.

Wondering how to make sure we get the pregnant ladies on the thread without seeming to be menopausal baby-stalkers . Some perky 40 yr old will enter expecting to see lots of bumps and meet only a crowd of mums cooing hungrily withoutstretched arms, then turn tail and run... I did join my pregnancy thread and am on the antenatal too, and there are lots of nice girls on it, but I wouldn't have stuck at that if I hadn't had friends my own age on here, I reckon.

Tee2072 · 04/09/2009 20:45

erm I'm pretty much dropping the June thread. I pop on occasionally, but mostly just post here!

I am up for moving where ever y'all want to!!

johnworf · 04/09/2009 20:59

Yeah ermintrude. This is where it's at

We've been yacking for god knows how long now. The oldest are 15 months old and it started when we were pregnant....not bad going! 10/10 for being able to blether

If anyone has any spa recommendations then shout up. So far enquiries have been fruitless; read 'don't want your business' I think we're just going to have to take pot luck geographically and go where it's cheap - within reason of course. No point booking something in John O'Groats and suchlike.

Today I tried on my blue Boden dress with some black boots I bought a couple of months back and asked DH what he thought. You may have been mistaken that the actual question was explain Reimann's hypothesis in Dutch to me by his expression. After much puzzlement and looking me up and down he came up with 'didn't like the dress although the cleavage view was good'

He's useless.

duchesse · 04/09/2009 21:02

Is it a bit insane early to say I could happily do it all again?

OP posts:
jeanjeannie · 04/09/2009 21:02

Evening all.......whah - just eaten a huge amount of ice cream

jw I find H&M hit n' miss. Love the style but they're SO long! Yet, with cardis and t-shirts (for Iris) I have to get a whole year bigger I find it's exactly the same with Zara - but I don't buy much there as it's a bit ££$$$ Kerching! I always find Gap sizing good for Iris - rarely buy it though - unless it's the sale of Ebay!

mrsB I'm so your afternoon sounded divine.

OK - my thoughts on us moving are this: We're not attracting any more preggie ladies - and I think if I was preggie and found this thread then I may feel a little alienated - as many of us have popped sometime ago and even those of us who have just given birth have been with us since they were about 20wks or before. I would want to be hearing more about actually being preggy.

We've kind of moved on and I feel odd talking about non-pregnancy related stuff (which is most of the time) on the preggy board.

Plus it's SO cheap to move now. I reckon we'll get a good deal in Chat and the mortgage will be dirt cheap....it's a movers market dontchya know

Oh gawd, the ice cream has frozen my brain...

jeanjeannie · 04/09/2009 21:06

Whahahahahahahahah don't know if I'm laughing more at jw's DH's response to the dress or duchesse thinking she might want to do it all again

Duchesse you need to grab the smelling salts!! Good to hear it's going well x
