Right, both older DC are showered, bags packed, uniform on chairs, gym kits ready and went to bed at 7.30 . DD did give me an extra big hug and said she was 'a bit scared' about Big School but admitted that she's more excited than worried. JW, I asked her why she'd been so nice recently and she said it was because DS1 was at football. They have been winding each other up more than usual this past week or so, it's really time to go back to school.

Duchesse hope you're having a lovely nesting time with (Matilda?) at home.

Bonzo I'm glad the wee chap was more settled today - they do love to be held close to the body, thank goodness for slings.

Enjoy your meet-ups, north-western ladies.

hedgepig · 02/09/2009 22:39

well done erm 7:30 FANTASTIC! In on the anoher hand have spent most of the evening yelling at B to get a move on. I start the day say I will not shout today but I never manage .

No idea what to do about the cup JW but she has to learn some time and probably best earlier rather than later. O has a new trick of deliberately leaning over the side of his high chair grinning and dropping the bits he doesn't fancy on the floor.

Tee2072 · 03/09/2009 07:51

Morning all.

So, last night DH and I decided to skip A's bath as we were feeling lazy. So for the first time in a few days A woke up at 130 and then 530, rather than 2 or 3 for first wake up. It would seem lazy parenting is a bad bad thing.

hedgepig the very first word my niece spoke? Was 'uh oh' after looking her mum in the eye, dropping her spoon over the side of the high chair and then leaning over to watch it fall. I was there and me and her mum were choking we were trying so hard not to laugh!

JW no advice regarding the cup. I am planning on using ones with lids for a bit!

A and I are staying home today. I am going to do some housework. He's going to watch me and be cute.

mrsboogie · 03/09/2009 09:51

morning all

mine eyes are bleeding! D went to bed at 11pm again again last night after a large bowl of spag bol at 8.30pm and a bottle before bed. He then woke up TWICE in the night for bottles! AND I had to be up early for a meetig this mornig at which I am supposed to be speaking on my boss's behalf.
He is also going through that "don't put me down, don't leave the room, don't even look like you are moving towards the door WAAAAH" phase. DP is a bit traumatised by this...

Need coffee.

I will also be using a lidded cup for a while as D tends to try to pour the water everywhere. An unlidded one would be immediately upended!

So, need coffee.

Am of tee's anticipated chilled out day...

hedgepig · 03/09/2009 10:11

Morning I feel a bit guilty about this but after much wailing at 11:30 O actually slept in his own bed til 6:30, the 1st time in months but I feel so much better for an uninterrupted nights sleep. Comiseratiuons to Tee & MrsB

B went back to school so it is strangely quite here today. He has a new class after 2 years in Class 1 (It's a very small school so has mixed classes) I think he is a bit apprehensive.

jeanjeannie · 03/09/2009 11:11

Morning - I started a post then my mate and two little ones dropped by - we were still in jim-jams So we've been entertaining while still unwashed!

mrsB blimey - you need coffee. Hope you get through the day in at least a semi-concious state. Oh and as for nursery not noticing him chewing on a choking hazards...I'm go NUTS

tee what a nice sounding day.

erm wow - that's so organsied. Yep, sounds like your troops were getting restless.

jw Ah, I'm not sure they stop shaking them for some time! Verity loves a cup - basically I just take the lid off her beaker and use that but heck, I never do it without being near something to wipe up the mess

Well, all of you with LOs at school I hope they have a lovely day and so do you

Am very of you all meeting at Slatterys I should send a cardboard cut-out of myself and it'll be like almost having the real thing there...

Day of chores ahead as nothing is on until next week so we'll just have to make do with this HUGE super-doopa cardboard box to play with...and it's already a big hit with the girls

johnworf · 03/09/2009 11:14

Morning ladies!

Seems they've all been up then? K was up at 1am and 6am and swigged down full bottles both times. I know she's teething though as I can see the teeth cutting her gums. The teething granules are great though and she opens her mouth wide for her 'baby coke'

She also throws almost all of her food over the side of the highchair. In fact I'd say 98% of it goes over the side. She is hardly eating a thing these days - which may explain the regression to the two bottles per night regime.

mrsb the separation anxiety that D is having is perfectly normal. He'll get over it. Tell your DP to read up on it and might give him some tips to deal with it They do say that favourite toys/blankets come into their own at this time as they are transitionary objects. I guess this means they derive comfort from them in the absence of their 'missing' parent.

The weather here is bloomin' awful. Terrible in fact. No plans for me apart from doing some cleaning. DH has taken K out for a spot of fresh air. Prolly blow the pushchair away.

I've gone back to lidded cups. She turns these upside down too but thankfully not much escapes out! Glad to hear that older ones do the same emptying out trick.

ermintrude hope that your DD has a good day at the big school today. It's that strange transition from big fish in little pond to very little fish in very large pond. Being the newbies must be very scary in such a large school with so many kids. She'll find her feet soon enough. You may find that in a few months your little girl isn't your little girl anymore though

johnworf · 03/09/2009 11:25

Cardboard boxes are fabulous things without doubt! Forget expensive toys.

JJ won't be the same with your cardboard representative coming along with us. Hop on the bus and join us. It's the one that goes up the M40, the M42, the M6 and then the M62/M60. I think it's about £2 return

ermintrude13 · 03/09/2009 12:52

Well, DD marched off very happily and looking v smart. DH and I were v brave, you'll be pleased to hear JW. The growing up thing is already happening - although she's small and only just 'developing' slowly (I was a late starter too) she has some very teenage expressions .

Tee sounds like your niece already has some naughty adolescent tendencies . We find things easier if we bath Arthur - didn't think it would make much difference but he does settle better.

hedge well done on a good night's sleep for you and your LO. Hope your DS has a good day at school. Mrsb get that coffee down your neck, girl! btw, I too would be at nursery letting D get near teeny lego pieces at all.

I've just put up a couple of newer pics of the little angels including one where I actually caught Arthur's smile for a change.

johnworf · 03/09/2009 13:40

ermintrude lovely pics. Love A's top! I've got a Hell's Angel one that DD#1 bought K from the US. She hasn't worn it yet. Maybe in 18 years time A and K will be out moshing, covered in piercings and tattoos (K could be just like her big sister then )

Glad that your DD got off to school ok. I'm sure today will be an education in itself

DS#1 is frantically texting me in his lunch hour as his Xbox has come plus game. He's beside himself. He's so excited and can't wait to finish work. It's just like he's not progressed from being 9...he's 20 btw. I think it's most def a man thing.

Tee2072 · 03/09/2009 14:28

erm she's 9 now. She's already a teenager. Just ask her mum!

Lovely pictures!

JW definitely a man thing. DH has rung me around 11 am all this week. To see how we are? No, to see if the post has arrived with his new DVDs. Of course the DVDs are of Are You Being Served, which I also enjoy, but still...

Well, Mr A just slept for two hours in his pram. We use the pram in the front room as a 'put the baby down for a second place' rather than strapping him into his chair. I put him down to fix myself some lunch, before strapping him into his chair, and he conked out! I got so much stuff done!!

johnworf · 03/09/2009 15:25

LOL@Are you being served....I'm free!

BonzoDoodah · 03/09/2009 17:45

erm what lovely pics ... A is such a sweetie! And well done brave mummy for little girl's big day.

MrsB eeeuuuurrrg at that sleeping. You'd think he's be settling by now. How did you get through your meeting? It is times like that it is worth having a can of Red Bull in your desk drawer - the emergency zing for when you need your wits. (I had a big supply in the car when commuting from Notts to Manchester on Monday mornings ... yuksville).

hedgepig how was B's day? Hope all went well.

I went to a friend's house 'just for coffee' at 10:30 .... and emerged at 3:30 .... eek! Where did the day go? We don't call her 'Talkative Jane' for nothing!!! Just had time to run round Sainsburys then dash home to put dinner on - and it's not evening. ah well.

dawntigga · 03/09/2009 18:37

We have much snot in our house at the moment

I can make Whitefield but the TC is easier for me.

SnottyArtistFormallyKnownAsTiggaGythaxx

johnworf · 03/09/2009 18:47

If TC is easier for you guys, then go for it. I can make TC but I won't be bringing K with me anyway (excuse to look in shops and drink copious amounts of lattes though!)

Just let me know.

bonzo I've sent my mobile to you on FB.

johnworf · 03/09/2009 21:32

Just shouting at the tv. Benefit Busters is on. Layabout of Oldham currently in starring role

hedgepig · 03/09/2009 21:42

sounds great fun JW, I am very pleased that DH has not found that programme or there would be shouting here as well. My DH does rather like shouting at the telly!

johnworf · 03/09/2009 21:50

I suspect it's something that people of our age call a hobby

I do.

hedgepig · 03/09/2009 23:38

I think I need a hobby, but I don't do shouting except at poor Ben! Bad Mother! I have about 5 mins in the evening between finishing chores and going to bed (MN of course is an essential chore )

dawntigga · 04/09/2009 08:01

x-post

Due to us having a snot fest I've just had a bit of an argument with the nurse on the NHS Direct helpline.

I've just been told that ds who is exclusively bf'd on demand to give him water!!!! I've had to explain that exclusively bf'd babies do not need water as the recipe of the breast milk changes in response to the needs of the child. I have then been told that giving him warm water could help his cough - so giving him warm breast milk won't? I gave up at that point and let her get on with it. They have tried to tell me we have swine flu which we haven't. All I wanted to know was what I could give him to help with his cough!

ARGH!!! Big GRRRRRR face.

WillTalkToPharmacistsInFutureAsTheHelplineSucksBigGreenEggsArtistFormallyKnownAsTiggaGythax x

Tee2072 · 04/09/2009 08:07

Morning all.

Sheesh dawntigga do they not train these people? I would definitely talk to the pharmacist.

JW we could try to get 'yelling at the telly' be accepted as an Olympic sport? Just an idea. Although I have no idea what benefit busters might be. Sounds, um, interesting.

We are back to two wake ups a night...midnight, then 4am. 4am one included a huge amount of vomit all over A, me and the sofa.

Oh, and I was married 5 years ago today. I got some lovely pearl earrings this morning.

dawntigga · 04/09/2009 08:16

Yay Tee, you'd be out now for involuntary manslaughter

We also shout at the telly - I say we, I mean me, Robin is so laid back about anything outside his family!

HaveDeliberatelyBeenAvoidingBenefitBustersTiggaxx

Tee2072 · 04/09/2009 08:26

dawntigga is that with or without time off for good behaviour?

ermintrude13 · 04/09/2009 08:38

Happy anniversary Tee!

A slept 9.30 - 5.30 but then wouldn't go down for the second bit of his sleep until 8.05. If he could just sleep til 6.30 that would be fine. I'll have a word with him .

I avoided Benefit Busters - I'd probably bust a blood vessel.

Bonzo I love 'coffee mornings' like that. Hope you got through many biscuits.

Dawntigga the number of HVs who recommend 'cool bottled water' in hot weather for b/f babies always amazes me, so it's no surprise that NHS Direct isn't clued up.

DD enjoyed her first day at big school - probably because the homework doesn't start until next week. That's going to be a big shock for her. Mind you, they start at 8.30 and finish at 2.45 so she'll have the time to do it....

FloriaTosca · 04/09/2009 09:02

Morning All!
I dont mind where we meet up ... I have to go to the TC on Mon anyway but could do Slatterys easily too. I'll let you 3 ladies decide.
Tiggagytha I think the water thing is because of the way adults react to milk (most people create more mucus when taking dairy products)but that is cows milk not bm and adults not babies whose digestive systems are exclusively set up for the stuff! ... I often wonder how these people manage to get their qualifications

Busy day and weekend for me...2 sets of guests on Saturday and Uni reunion on Sunday... I hope everyone is ok and has a good weekend... I'll check in on Sun night to see if we are meeting up on Mon...
