johnworf · 02/09/2009 11:12

LOL floria I'm just like the songs says...RIGHT NOW Grrrr!

Stomps off.

johnworf · 02/09/2009 11:51

I'm looking for somewhere that sells children's wet suits. Has anyone bought one that was on the cheapish side? I've not looked yet but was hoping for a recommendation first. I want one for a 10 year old and one for a 2 year old for next year.

FloriaTosca · 02/09/2009 12:13

JW get thee behind me!!!...I made you go to Slatterys when you were on the 'no fat or else' pills so I'd be churlish to refuse and be as stoical as you were. Are you up for meeting tigga at the TC on Monday?

Really must get this house cleaned...we have 2 lots of visitors on Saturday; 1 set of pals from Somerset passing through on their way to hols and dropping in for lunch and another uni mate coming for dinner and stopping over so drag me to the reunion on Sunday so need to do all the scrubbing today and tomorrow so I can spend Friday cooking and look like a domestic goddess when the arrive

Tee2072 · 02/09/2009 12:26

Excellent floria!!

So, I go to buy DH's anniversary gift, as our anniversary is this Friday (5 years). All he wants, as usual, is a freakin' HUGE comic book and a video game. Yes, I married a 12 year old.

Anyway, the guy at Game asks me how old I am!! I was like, are you serious? Do you want to see some ID? He was half joking, but he also told me to take it as a compliment!

jeanjeannie · 02/09/2009 12:29

Afternoon all. Cor - two snotty LOs and about 3 hours sleep Grrrrrr. MIL has Iris so just packed in loads of errands around Verity wailing.

bonzo Oooo, that sounds nasty and defiantely like reflux - hope you get that sorted out soon x

jw we got wetsuit from Decathlon - it's FAB! Think there's a branch in Stcokport but think the do online now. It's an amazing place...love it. BRILLIANT news about the lump! That's just what my surgeon mate said - if it's a lump and it's starting to show you should get a referal - it's just facelifts and lipo that are outta bounds

floria I totally feel your pain re: the garden. I knwo ours will be finished V shortly but we did start in Feb! I know it's a huge job etc, etc but even when it's done it'll still look bare and unexciting. Can't wait to plant stuff and the girls are always looking forlornly out of the window.

Off to do more chores and to watch the vieo tee put up. Byeee x

johnworf · 02/09/2009 13:01

floria & bonzo I'm free (in john inman voice) all week now I've looked at my calendar It's the week after I've things on. So, w/c 7th I'm ok for. Name your day

JJ yes it is very noticeable. My GP said 'oh yes, deary me, it is rather unsightly isn't it?'. Nothing like kicking someone when they're down. So ladies, I'll be the one in the corner with a bag on my head

tee I was in Games Workshop a few years back (I think I was 35), and I was offered a job. Obviously I was looking the part to join all the geeks in the middle of the shop, painting their Warhammer figures.

johnworf · 02/09/2009 13:02

I'm off to look at Decathlon

Hope the girls are feeling better and sans snot faces very soon.

ermintrude13 · 02/09/2009 13:31

We get all footie kits, trainers, fleeces, walking boots etc from Decathlon - enjoy it JW

jeanjeannie · 02/09/2009 13:42

Oh erm it's the Notts one I got to as well. Fab little retail park...And IKEA too! That sprung up out of nowhere...one minute a carpark...next min..eh Voila! I shall be going in two weeks to stock up on the fleeces, superb waterproof coats and plimsoles! Oh and a bike for me but that's another story.

LOL@docs comment at jw And also pmsl@being offered a job in Games Workshop. I've never been in one of those, I find them scary...sort of place geeky, spotty boys with wet-gel hair hang out. Have they gone bust?

Anyway - Autoglass man been and done the deed all while dodging the rain. Chucking it down now and Verity is still sleeping, she's dog rough. Bless.

johnworf · 02/09/2009 16:42

JJ I am also on the look out for a bike. I've seen one of these to go on it.

Games Workshop is still alive and kicking and still full of it's quota of geeky adolescent males.

Tee2072 · 02/09/2009 17:28

Afternoon all!

I do not thing Games Workshop is the same as Game. Game is just video games, PC, XBox, etc. Isn't Games Workshop board games as well?

If, however, you want to be treated like a goddess, go into Forbidden Planet, the comic book shop, as a woman with a pram. Bent over backwards to open the door for me, find the book DH wants for our anniversary and practically bowed us back out the door.

Spent the afternoon with A asleep on me. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon!!

duchesse · 02/09/2009 17:29

I'm home! Feeling very, very fazed.

OP posts:
johnworf · 02/09/2009 17:52

Games Workshop is not the same as Game.....AT ALL! Not even in the same universe.

I ordered from Forbidden Planet 24th July and I'm still waiting for half of my delivery. They are officially off my websites of choice henceforth

duchesse get your feet up old girl and have a cuppa and some cake How's the wee little madam doing? Great to be home and in your own bed?

johnworf · 02/09/2009 17:57

Gah! I spent the afternoon sorting out youngest DS's university finance/admin stuff. Nothing so restful here tee. Mind you there's no way he'd fit on my chest anyway...he towers over me

I have nothing, repeat, NOTHING, planned for this evening. I want 2 LO's in bed for 8 o'clock...a pile of chocolate (it's that time of the month), and my OK magazine. I swore not to buy it ever again as it's crap but I think it's a bit like heroin; it's a cheap fix and you know it's bad for you but what the hell

JJ is your crack fixed now? I mean on the windscreen of course

Tee2072 · 02/09/2009 18:02

Welcome home duchesse!! How is the LO? Does she have a name?

JW sounds like a great night to me. And A might tower over me by next week the way he's growing.

FloriaTosca · 02/09/2009 19:56

Welcome home Duchesse and Duchette (is she officially Matilda yet?)What is fazing you? It has been a pretty turbulent 9/10 days..is it all just hitting home now you are back in your own environment? I hope you and madam are setting in quickly. Congratulations again.

mrsboogie · 02/09/2009 20:00

'ullo all

doing work at home tonight that'll teach me to be taking days off...

picked up D from the nursery tonight where he was "helping to tidy up" in the big kids' room because most kids had left. After a few mins of chatting DP noticed he had a small round piece of lego in his mouth - perfect choking size I was raging. Not so much that he had it in his mouth but that he had it in there for gawd knows how long and she hadn't noticed. Of course I didn't say anything except handed it to the one who was looking after him and said "he had this in his mouth". She was all apologetic.

I was raging all the way home. Still am. DP thinks I am over reacting and "they would have got it out if he had started choking" They would have had to notice for a start. Am I overreacting? I know kids put things in their mouths all the time but we usually manage to avoid this happening at home and if it does we are usually paying enough attention to catch him at it.

I think it was the size of it that really got me. It was the perfect size to block his airway.

Ho hum. Hope all have had a good day. Hope you get unfazed soon duchesse and can come and tell us all about your wee lady.

glad you are not having to whack out loads of dosh on a private surgeon jw

jeanjeannie · 02/09/2009 20:05

Evening all.

Duchesse HURRAH! You're home...yes, yes, nice cuppa tea, a biccie and stare at the ceiling for a while! Good to see you're both home ..... and have you settled on Matilda?

jw love that bike seat - so sweet. I see your addiction to OK and raise you mine which is food mags I have SO many recipes...i paw over them like I'm actually going to write a meal plan...and stick to it. Today I bought 'jamie' magazine

tee I love the idea of being treated like a Goddess in Forbidden Planet! If only you got the same level of service everywhere else - can't imagine Mothercare giving you a hand!

Early night for sure.

Tee2072 · 02/09/2009 20:23

JJ I am right there with you on food mags. I actually enjoyed the copy of Jamie that I bought.

Yeah, I think Mothercare is misnamed!

mrsb I would be raging also. So very dangerous.

hedgepig · 02/09/2009 20:37

hello been visiting my friend for most of the day, slightly frazzeled she has 4 children and a rather noisy house I defibnatly like it a bit quieter.

MrsB I would be well pissed off too. It's fine for the little ones to go in the older kids rooms but they have to make sure it is safe. I admire you OHs confidence in first aid but it is best not to have to use it in the 1st place.

Bonzo did the HV arrive today, was she any help? I don't need the VBAC books no more children here maybe we can find someones else on MN to give them to.

Duchess hurrah you are back that is fantastic news

johnworf · 02/09/2009 20:58

mrsb don't know how you kept your mouth shut. If it was me in your shoes, I would compose in my mind what I was going to say tomorrow in a calm and rational manner (even though I'd be fuming inside tonight). I would ask to see whoever is in charge and voice my concerns. It is simply not acceptable.

Not into food mags. No point. We only eat the shit finest comestibles from the epicurean king, Captain Birdseye

Jamie magazine???? It sounds a bit like Jackie but for gay men.

BonzoDoodah · 02/09/2009 21:26

Woo - I'm up for meeting on Monday afternoon at the TC.... or Slattery's

Welcome home duchesse it's mad at first but things DO settle down. Did you plump for Matilda in the end?

Iris thanks for the tips about the possible milk allergy. I'll try with organic moisturisers first and then in a week or two try the milk if it's still not improved.

Tee tears in my eyes at that childbirth song! She's brilliant.

jw awww at DSS and his shoe laces. How did he cope? My neice had her first day at senior school today too. Don't know how she got on yet. Did you get a wetsuit? I can ask my sister where she gets hers for her kids. Possibly ebay. Good news about the face thingie - although not about it being there

Well after slagging my boy off royally yesterday he has been an angel today. I'm not saying he actually smiled but he was calm and peaceful for long enough for us to actually have some eye contact and talking time (amazing - first time really). I took him to a sling meet and after trying a few have hired a stretchy wrap sling and he loved it in there. Plus second Health visitor called and they're going to monitor us - but today is such an amazing difference that I feel hugely calm tonight instead of stressed to tears.

Anyone know where heron is?

And anyone heard how neddie and the tins are?

johnworf · 02/09/2009 21:53

bonzo DSS was absolutely fine at school. He's not at big school yet - he's year 5. You don't get much info out of him though. The Aspergers limits his communication. He's very expressive when it comes to Call of Duty (the Xbox game du jour). It's all he talks about

I can't do TC but can do slattery's. But don't let me sway you...if you can only do TC with floria then go for it

Sounds very promising re LO. It always amazes me how they can turn a corner and improve so very quickly (can go t'other way too but we won't dwell on that!)

K did ever so well with her doidy cup today until she found she could shake it. There's smoothie all over the kitchen wall near to the table. Any ideas how you get them to stop shaking cups?

dawntigga · 02/09/2009 22:09

tee THANK YOU! For finding that woman - she's on my must see list now!

Floria definately up for a meet up - email me: dawn_bevan at hotmail.co.uk

My little man was soooooooo brave with his injections today!

StillGigglingArtistFormallyKnowAsTiggayGythaxx

BonzoDoodah · 02/09/2009 22:12

Ah - I don't mind where to meet really - need to see if DawnT and Floria would go to Slatterys instead.

Shaking her cup? nope .... M is 2 and I still give her a drink in a cup with a valve as she will deliberately pour it onto her tray and then mess with it. Like smearing it on her arms as (in her words) "my put on sunscreen". I think that's what she was doing when she was painting!
