thanks that is helpful. Well, he has a solicitor as the divorce is very slowly going through at the mo. He is far from on benefits - very highly paid job although crippled with her debts and currently paying mortgage on house which she has just moved out of (because of the local scandal when she ran off with her best mate's husband.)

She is also defrauding the benefits - told them he is paying no maintenance while he is paying over the odds and systematically removed 15k from his bank account without his knowledge over the past 9 months.

The above is the milder end of the scale in terms of what she has done - she is a piece of work this lady.

johnworf · 18/07/2009 14:28

He needs to start compiling a list of things he can submit involving her behaviour. Evidence would be good - e.g bank statements etc. Also, I'd get CAFCASS to speak to the child's teacher - he can do this when the interview is set up. We asked them to speak to DSS's school, which they did, and this was incorporated into their report. BTW, this was last year when she went for residency again....and failed.

I know it can sound a bit childish and in a way, dirt dishing, but she'll be encouraged by her solicitor to be doing the same.

He sounds like he can afford good legal advice. DH self represented last time as her having her afternoon in court would have cost us £2k which is madness. We knew she didn't have a chance though.

It's certainly not always the way that the mother gets custody and far from automatic these days. Since the Children's Act 1989 it's all about the child's best interest.

Good luck to him

cheers jw there's very little dirt to dish on him - the dirt is all on her side !

jeanjeannie · 18/07/2009 15:04

Afternoon all. Sorry not had chance to catch up as my great friend and former business partner popped by and she announced she's preggie - I'm so thrilled for her and we had so much catching up to do. She'd lost an ovary a few years ago to a hideous tumour while stil in her 20s - so this has just made me SO happy I'm in such a smiley mood

Anyway - suppose I'd better get on with things as we've spent hours gossiping and DP is at work today. Ho hum, better do some chores and work off the cake we had!

johnworf · 18/07/2009 15:34

JJ sounds like you've had a lovely day Nice to catch up with people AND you've had cake! Luvverly.

We're watching episodes of Me Too! that I've recorded. Very exciting. K is doing that cute little sitting down dance to all sorts of things on the tv these days. Sweet!

I can't get 5 minutes to start my jigsaw as K demands otherwise. Is anyone doing anything remotely exciting today? I just want to keep eating (crap) out of boredom. It's not good at all.

JJ OH must be busy if he's working today? Can't grumble I guess as it pays the bills.

I meant to post this article about honey and coughs. Unfortunately can't give it to K yet as on all the honey bottles it says 'not for infants under 12 months'. No idea what happens at 12 months...a lot it seems!

mrsb Tell him to keep a diary of the stuff she does. Keep a diary! KEEP A DIARY!!!! Sorry just got a bit dizzy with the need to (shush) keep a diary! It will help no end in court.

I have become Judgey McJudge/Grumpy Old Woman today it seems. Nice girl (she looked 12!) washing my hair tells me her friend had a baby just turned 3 months who was SO hungry they were feeding it baby yoghurt and porridge. In my best disapproving voice I blurt out 'At 3 months!!!' You could hear the exclamation marks. I then bit my tongue to stop myself from saying anymore.

Loving the new short short hair

Not enjoying wanting to walk up to children who have had children to tell them not to have a cig in their hand whilst bottle feeding their child. And yes they bloody well had Greggs sausage rolls every last one of them (including food eating children)

johnworf · 18/07/2009 16:32

dawntigga I see those kind of mothers (and I use the term loosely) all the time. I saw a father at the eye hospital holding baby in one arm and smoking a cigarette This was after he'd given the baby (about same age as K) a drink of Tango dawntigga you just have to turn a blind eye to it...unless you're my DH who feels it's his public duty to tell these kind of people to STOP SMOKING NEAR THEIR CHILDREN and runs the risk of being stabbed one day.

Glad the hair is nice. LOL @ the exclamation in response to porridge! Don't think you'd joined our thread when someone (think it was JJ) was saying that a mum at playgroup was boasting her baby had had it's first bite of burger.

I really wouldn't let it get you down. There's so many of these people about that telling one of them is like p*ssing in the wind

heron22 · 18/07/2009 16:37

jw ur not the only one wanting to eat junk. i am the same! just so hungry today!

jj great to hear your friend is pregnant always a happy event! esp as she only got 1 ovary. i only got one ovary as well. lost one to tumour like your friend!
mine single ovary has managed to produce egg for 2 DS!

boring day today. having movie night with DS1, might watch harry potter, the first one. we get take out and watch movie!

jeanjeannie · 18/07/2009 16:43

Ooooo jw you and Granny Murray along with a nice jigsaw....boogie on down You'll be deciding who you 'would with' on Cbeebies next. I think myself and erm have gone for Welsh Pete on Doodle Doo - although at times I 'would' with Boogie Pete on Boogie Beebies!!

Oh the cake was glorious - it was from a posh Chiswick cakerie - so much like a mini version of Slattery's I'm sure!

DP is back home...and yep, he's really busy so we're making the most of it. People arev really are embracing having work done. I think many folk have decided to extend/renovate/convert instead of moving....for which we are truely grateful! Home offices in the garden are all the rage too....yep - bring it on!!

We use honey and lemon for Iris. I've never understood the 12mnths for honey thing

Right - girls need feeding. It's like the zoo here. Oh and potty training has gone Pete Tong....but we're keeping on, keeping on. I'm SO fed up with trails of wee

heron22 · 18/07/2009 16:44

hi herb how are you and LO doing? have not heard from you since ur birth announcement!
how is the feeding, sleeping going? hope all is going well!

heron22 · 18/07/2009 16:49

jj ooh i can remember trails of wee. must persevere! it will end someday! at least it is summer. imagine potty training over winter

FloriaTosca · 18/07/2009 16:49

JW Iwas told that honey apparently can harbour a tiny amount of something like botulism, which the immature digestive system cant handle but which the average 12mth old can .... I hope for Spuds sake that it isnt an allergy but personally find that my allergy to dog dander is much less severe the more I am exposed to it ...at least allergy to dogs is more managable than to cats as with dogs regular wipe downs with anti-allergy wet wipes keeps the dander at bay.

Dh is playing knight in shining armour today; his best mate/work collegue was admitted to hosp on Thurs with severe cellulosis(sp?) but insisted that his wife take the kids to Ireland on holiday today as planned. She phones half way to the ferry this morning...the clutch on the company car has died ... Dh has driven to the lake district in our company car, given it to her (we are all covered on the same insurance), packed her on her way (she made it to the ferry at 3.00) and only then discovered that the company car fleet manager let the breakdown cover lapse on that car 5 days ago!!!!! , so he's had to arrange for the RAC to tow it to Penrith and he is currently on the train to Manchester airport (near head office)where he will pick up a hire car ..... cost so far; £100 towing fee off the motorway, approx. £600 for the clutch (on a car that is being replaced in 4 weeks), £50 train ticket, a whole day of our weekend plus however much Avis charge for the hire car until the repair is done and someone can go to Penrith to pick it up!!!!!!!.....the fleetmanagers head should roll for this.....

ermintrude13 · 18/07/2009 16:54

Rushing about day because DH has taken DD to an all afternoon footie tournament so I've had DS1 as my little helper, which is sweet but time-consuming .

MrsB I can't find that recipe! There are yoghurt muffin recipes online but it was the neatness of the measuring I liked - will carry on looking.

Awful time for your friend - hope JW's advice comes in useful, sounds like just the job.

JW I'd avoid giving anti-hists on the recommendation of a pharmacist - as has been mentioned they can have side-effects. My parents used to dose me up on Phenergan (sp?) to stop me scratching my eczema, but I'm sure it was to make me sleep 11 hours. Doctors, you see - v irresponsible. Specific allergies can be tested nowadays so you can make absolutely sure of everything before treating.

Neddie so sorry you're feeling rough and hope the next weeks fly by without too much extra stress. And to you and Bonzo I say - Gaviscon? Ranitidine? What are these things? After months of reliance on them I can hardly believe I ever needed them - post pregnancy recovery from sickness, acid etc. is fab and will happen to you both soon . (btw, a woman with twins came up to me in the playground last week and pointed out that both her sons together weighed 1 lb more than Arthur abd popped out v easily. And she was massive! All water, you see).

JJ That's lovely news about your friend. Hope all goes smoothly for her.

Tee I want to know what a stockbroker would give a new baby too!

Heartbeats - there's a saying that a girl's foetal heart base rate is slightly higher than a boy's. But I've checked it with various authorities and it's not true at all - it was originally assumed to be the case because baby girls' have a higher metabolic rate than boys. They all vary.

Dawntigga congratulations on the haircut . I'd better get mine done before my sister's wedding on 12 September. If I plan it now I might just make it to the hairdresser's in time

dawntigga · 18/07/2009 16:58

Bonzo don't have a 2 year old so not sure what they'd like but I did see this:

www.applejacksfarm.co.uk/how-to-find-us.html

And there's Stockley Farm, they have a petting/baby animal bit.

Erm, theres Dunham Massey in Altrincham, they have deer wandering around.

FloriaTosca · 18/07/2009 17:14

bonzo Tatton Park farm is supposed to be good.

mrsboogie · 18/07/2009 17:32

yes apparently honey harbours a bacteria that that can be dangerous for babies under 1. It is one of the only things you are not supposed to give them.
gave D some raisins to eat and there is a trail of them all over the floor - he keeps letting them fall out of his mouth - or maybe he thinks they'll taste better after a while rolling round in the cat hair on the floor

oh jj could you ask your DP how much roughly one could expect to pay to have two fairly basic double glazed windows installed? When we moved in the back of the house had been done but not the front (don't ask)and I keep meaning to get them done but have no idea how much it would cost.

johnworf · 18/07/2009 17:38

ermintrude back in the days before sonographers would tell you what flavour baby you were having, a supposed indicator was that a heartbeat over 120 bpm was a girl. Anything below a boy. From mine, it was true but I certainly wouldn't use it as a 100% guarantee!

As for Phenergan, it was withdrawn years ago. My mother still fondly reminisces about it putting us to sleep for hours I think it was withdrawn as it gave children hallucinations.

floria think whoever sorts out the car stuff at your DH's place is gonna get a boot up their jacksy. Sounds like something that you'd expect John Cleese to pop up in a la Clockwise.

Thanks for info on honey. I'm thinking it's good advice for using it as a cough remedy so I'll file in 'pending' for a couple of months

JJ glad to hear you have your very own mini version of Slattery's down sarf and that cake went down well

OP posts:
johnworf · 18/07/2009 17:41

floria I'm wondering if your DH's colleague has cellulitis? I've had it a couple of times in my leg. It's thought that it's to do with a flaw in your immune system. Highly painful. Strong AntiB's needed. Once you've had it you usually keep getting it. Poor him

Tee2072 · 18/07/2009 18:15

Afternoon all.

Stock brokers give very cute hat/mitt/bib/babygro sets! They have cute little 3D doggy faces on them.

Heard from Step Dad, who said it was indeed their stock broker, who is also a good friend. Makes me wonder why they didn't just sign their name? Rather than, 'from your friends at Merril Lynch'!!

Just woke up and now have to start dinner. I'll try to catch up with everything that happened while I was asleep after that!

iris66 · 18/07/2009 20:25

Still not caught up properly ...

jw - can you give glycerin instead of honey? My nan use to swear by it (similar consistency) mixed with lemon juice and I used to use it with DD (never used it with a LO though)you can get it in Boots.
re: dustmites we haven't got rid of carpets of curtains (rented house) but have bought a Ewbank Raycop which gets up all the ductmite poo and skin debris.

must go - her ladyship is hungry...again!

iris66 · 18/07/2009 20:26

ductmite?!!! dustmite

johnworf · 18/07/2009 20:32

I guess I could get a Dyson although I think the vac we have now is Hepa....although not exactly sure what Hepa is

OP posts:
hedgepig · 19/07/2009 07:55

hepa is an excuse to charge more £££££ isn't it JW

Crap night, that's about it really I'm on my 3rd cup of coffee

FloriaTosca · 19/07/2009 07:59

JW you are indeed right, cellulitis is what our pal V. is suffering from... sadly intravenous abs are not touching it and he is being operated on today ... he appears that instead of being upset about needing such extensive surgery, he is more miffed that after all the extra tax he has to pay for the private health insurance the company provide he still has to stay in your local NHS hospital because the nearest private place doesn't do skin grafts.
With you on the 'what the heck is a Hepa filter?'...ours is supposed to have it too.

Iris love the name 'raycop'..just googled it, it looks like a fab tool, I think I need one.

FloriaTosca · 19/07/2009 08:02

xposted hedgepig...think you are right there!
