nowtlikelife · 10/04/2009 18:34

just meant will probably have a look on the other topics

mrsboogie · 10/04/2009 18:36

ahhh righto

I used to confine myself to this one thread but recently have been wandering far and wide among the topics.

I think I've become a bit addicted to MN if I'm honest

nowtlikelife · 10/04/2009 18:46

yes,its nice to have a look around, but initally wondered if there was a more specific forum for general chat for the 40's plus. How long have you been a member on MN

mrsboogie · 10/04/2009 19:01

I joined last year in May when I was pregnant and in need of contact with other 40+ pregnant ladies - was a bit freaked out by all the Daily Mail crap about the Terrible Risks of these old women getting themselves pregnant I found the earlier versions of this thread and became a permanent fixture..

It's been great - a lifeline sometimes and a laugh.

nowtlikelife · 10/04/2009 19:23

I'm afraid my attitude towards all that is written about older mothers is "if you believe all that you read you'll eat all that you see" maybe not what most ppl want to hear but the truth nevertheless. My other two Dc's are 21 and 20 and boy have things changed since then!!

Tee2072 · 10/04/2009 19:25

Welcome nowtlikelife!

Like it says in the opening post, some of us are PG (me, for example!), some have just had kids and some have older little ones, like yours!

You are more than welcome to join us.

There's a list of all of us somewhere!

Evening all. Not feeling very Eastery...a definate lack of choccy and bunnies over here at JJ Towers

nowlikelife hello - and you are most welcome I've been on this thread from day dot - can't get rid of me - and boy, they've tried! Had both my DC in my early 40s and very close together - so defying medical science if you were to believe all you read in the Daily Mail Mind you - having two DDs under three has definately made me start to go grey and it's done 'interesting' things to my boobies - but hey....that was all going to happen anyway!

mrsB MN isn't like smack you know - you won't get help to get weaning off it...it's not like there's a methadone subsitute. Apparently there are other parenting websites...but they don't work

I really, really, really, really, really WANT a hot cross bun. REALLY!! And we've got nothing yummy to eat at all

Tee2072 · 10/04/2009 21:18

JJ I have been craving a hot cross bun ever since I saw Sir Jamie of Oliver's advert about hot cross bun pudding! I have informed DH that we will be buying some tomorrow!!

OP posts:
mrsboogie · 10/04/2009 21:54

yeah, that ad eeeevil...

aye jj but I can give it up any time I want I swear! I just don't want to...

Well after Mr D threw up about ten times this am on an empty tummy (poor wee man ) he decided he'd had enough of that malarky and decided he was hungry. Threw up the first bottle but was undeterred and wanted another one a while later. That one stayed down as did the two after. He is now back in his newly washed Amby snoozing happily. This seems far to light a let off for the D and v bug...can I expect a recurrence I wonder?

Also he has a new tooth - the second one has appeared.

ermintrude13 · 10/04/2009 22:08

mrsb hurrah that D kept some milk down and hope his poor little tummy recovers soon. Sounds like he's over the worst of it - fingers crossed.

Tee aargh, I knew I'd forgotten something in the massive pile of food we've got to take with us on our holiday. Must get some hot cross buns on the way; JJ I'll get a couple of packs for you too. And how about a nice simnel cake and some easter biscuits?

Welcome nowtlikelife, I'm another pregnant one, due in June like Tee (my 3rd)

Right, that's me done till we get back next Sat. ladymac I look forward to hearing an announcement on my return, and everyone else, hope y'all have a good week.

johnworf · 10/04/2009 23:57

Just had a quick scan to catch up. Today has been majorly busy and I haven't stopped. Between feeding various children who stopped by (and two that live here) I've been moving DD#1 into her new flat. Yep. It all happened so quickly and we got the keys 3 hours after we/she viewed it. All signed, sealed and delivered. Millions of crates of clothes/shoes/dvds etc later (and all carried up 2 flights of stairs ) I'm officially overtired and wanting my bed.

Hope you have a good hol ermintrude. JJ virtual x cross bun coming your way.

tee knock yourself and eat a few for me tomorrow!

mrsb sounds like your little man is made of iron He's on the mend by the sounds of things. AND a new peggy to boot

Speak tomorrow if I have any energy left.

P. S. tomorrow (saturday) is yet another trip to the swedish cheap shop. Taking back nearly all of the stuff she bought on Monday as the flat is furnished Great.

iris66 · 11/04/2009 06:52

morning all
just having a quick catchup as I actually slept until 4.30 today YAY!!- sleep is sooo good isn't it. I actually feel human today. LO has decided to do every routine from Olga Korbutts repertoire since then so I gave up and came downstairs for some quiet mooching and eating before the boys wake up.

ladymac - here's hoping you've been put out of your ongoing misery and are now dozing contentedly with your new baby [smile (I always thought it was just the prostaglandin that worked too (iris makes mental note to inform DH just in case he gets too tired for multiple performances when the time comes )
mrsb - hope the sickness has finally gone and you've managed to get some fluids down DS.

jw - fab news that your DD got sorted with her flat the same day! DD moves into hers just after the baby arrives so exDH is helping her with the move (thankfully, he's pretty helpful when really needed!)

Poo streaked towels are no more after I gave DS1 a stern talking to (luckily, it was spotted before anyone used them to dry their hands!) How to get DS to just use a couple of sheets rather than half a roll is another matter though. He likes his privacy on the throne (like his father) and yells for us to wipe him when he's finished - he's only just turned 3. Any tips?
Anyhow, I better go - thundering upstairs heralds a new day DD got home last night so I'm taking some girly time out with her for some therapeutic shopping. have a good one all.

iris66 · 11/04/2009 06:54

PS - Tee fab news about the sugar! - mine seems more stable now too thankfully. I didn't realise they could improve in the 3rd trimester. Brilliant!

Tee2072 · 11/04/2009 07:17

Morning all.

Well after tossing and turning until 2am, finally moved to our spare room and managed to sleep for 5.whole.hours. Yip. Eee.

Ermintrude have a fab trip!

mrsb glad to hear Mr D is on the mend! And yayay new tooth!

JW great news about the flat...bummer about having to return everything to Ikea!

iris my sugar has been less than fab, not sure where I said it good! Its not dangerously high or anything, just higher than the docs would like. Bring on more insulin.

Morning Tee and all. Excited household here today as Doctor Who is on tonight. Counting down the hours till 6.45pm...

jeanjeannie · 11/04/2009 09:22

MOrning all. Shocking weather here but in some ways that good news of a kind as DP isn't working all day - so is doing 'daddy things'!

PLUS - I got hot cross buns....MMMMMmmmmm, buns

Off to the shops - get the girls an egg each with their name on it. Good for photo opportunity!

ladymac Oh wow - all that sex MUST be doing something. Watch out or your DH will be too frazzled to make it through the birth....you know how sleepy men get after a bit of fornication! Good luck - go girl xxx

Iris I have no tips I'm afraid - potty training is going to be our summertime adventure! Although if Iris is going to be anything like me (I can't believe I'm revealing this... Then it'll be a nightmare and she'll be reading before she cracks going to the loo! Apparently I just used to go behind the curtains......

stormfly I'm not even a Dr Who fan and I'm marginally excited....so you must be cock-a-hoop!

MrsB brilliant news on keeping down the food. Bless the poor little man. Will you be giving him a choccy egg later on?!

jw nice work on getting the flat on done and dusted. Blimey - all those stairs...that'll be extra lbs off at the next weight in

tee five WHOLE hours....er...yip-de-doo

Right - off to the shops - back later

Tee2072 · 11/04/2009 10:46

Aw man, back from the shops and completely forgot the Hot Cross Buns!! I don't think I even saw any Tesco, how odd! Very {benvy] of yours JJ! stormy so totally excited for Doctor Who! Even planning tea so we can eat while its on!

Trip to City Centre really wiped me out today. Will definitely have a nice bit of kip this afternoon!

Tabitha8 · 11/04/2009 11:10

Back from the shops, Tee? I've only just got up.
Welcome nowtlikelife. I'm one of the pg ones - due in June. Our first. And last.

Tee2072 · 11/04/2009 11:13

Must be nice tab! I've been up since 7!

OP posts:
johnworf · 11/04/2009 11:36

6.30 am here feeding hungy hippo LO

Hit the shops around 9am when she had her first 'rest' of the day.

Been to DD#1's flat and she's started sorting through the many crates. But, she is very excited about it all so it's worth all of running around.

I have the whole team around tomorrow. All children present and correct and any additional partners that are still in the frame. Just bought half a cow to squeeze in the oven

mrsb how is D today? Is he any better? We have the sun here today (won't last) so mebbe you've taken his lordship out for a small amble

JJ potty training is really hit and miss. DD#1 was dry day and night by two and a half. The boys were almost 4 and I was getting worried they'd be wearing nappies to school! But, they all get there in the end and thankfully, they're still nappy free!

tee fancy tantalising me with your hot x bun forage and then forgetting them. Tsk. I was looking forward to at least getting a sniff of them!

DSS is Dr Who mad so we'll all be hushed and sat down this evening in readiness. He's even Virgin + it (and the whole series) just in case he misses any detail first time around. Not to worry as like Star Wars, he'll watch it over and over again. At least 10 times before either myself or DH 'accidentally' deletes it It's all part of the Asperger's and it very tedious.

Hope you ladies and your LO's (and bumps) are having a lazy and pampered saturday. Catch ya laters!

mrsboogie · 11/04/2009 11:43

morning all

Well hurrah -Mr D is indeed fully recovered by the looks of things (not so much a 24 hr bug as a four hour one) and, and, wait for it ladies - he had his last bottle at 11pm last night until 8am this morning!!! he woke a couple of times for the dummy or a whinge and was quickly rocked back to sleep. Does that count as a full night?

tee are you going to be taking up residence in the spare room then for the duration?

What a bummer jw buying all that lovely Ikea stuff then having to take it back because the flat is furnished - I have been there. When I moved to York - although the landlord was very nice and took all the furniture away so I could use my own which I still have and am very fond of.

Speaking of shopping did I mention I went to a White Stuff here the other day? there was a sale on and I got a lovely teal blue tank top for work and a fabby colourful necklace. Really like their stuff but the shop isn't in the main shopping drag so I haven't been in before. Nice gear.

heron22 · 11/04/2009 12:18

mrsb congrats ! i would definitely consider 11pm to 8am a full night! you must feel rested after a good long sleep!

weather dreadful here today. DS1 went out for easter egg hunt with DH. it was wet out but all the children had a lovely time. the easter bunny hid lots of eggs everywhere, even the little ones, 2-3 yr olds, got to find eggs which was really nice.

DH and DS1 holed up in the living room watching star wars. DS2 napping after a feed. me, i am on web, and expressing milk.

wanted to go out today to the shops, but looking at the wet weather, i feel like staying in all day! eating chocolates!

jeanjeannie · 11/04/2009 15:55

Afternoon ladies. We've just come back from a kiddie's Easter party two doors down the road....Iris had a nice time although she's conked out now as has Verity.

mrsB I love White Stuff - that's where I got my skirt from for the funeral the other week. I could happily purchase mucho stuff from there! Brilliant news about D - and yes, that definately counts as a full night

Rainy here...have From Russia with Love on the telly, and am about to partake of a Snickers bar ....whoops...well, it IS Easter

mrsboogie · 11/04/2009 16:06

how is it possible to love and loathe a song at the same time? that Lady Gaga's Pokerface does my nut but makes me bop at the same time

enjoy the Snickers jj

jeanjeannie · 11/04/2009 16:13

Hahahahaah it was LOVERLY mrsB...tee hee!

What song? Never heard of it. Mind you - I first read your post as 'Love and Loathe SOAP' ....
