Right on with that tab!! So much cheaper to divorce!

An nope, no babymac news. Hopefully she's pushing it out as we speak.

If Ladymac has a webcam, we could all join in and cheer her on!

ermintrude13 · 10/04/2009 12:24

Morning all

Just taken DD for the first haircut where she's actually allowed a decent amount to be cut off . A lovely thick bob getting a bit longer at the front; what a relief after the years of growing it crazily long for no reason other than some of her friends do the same...

Reading that DM article reminded me of what my mum used to say about marriage - divorce should be as easy as clicking your fingers, but there should be a number of mandatory questions to consider and answer before you're allowed to get a marriage licence, including attitudes to finances, children, in-laws, comparative importance of each partners' job/education, and lots of What would you do IF? questions. She thinks it would scare the bejaysus about some starry-eyed couples and make others really think before they jump so they're more prepared for the stresses of marriage and parenthood.

Tee good news on iron; hope the diabetes changes aren't too radical.

mrsb hope D takes some water soon. Is it like cats, where in the end they'll give in? I had to wean DS off fruit juice when he started threatening to only want that to drink apart from milk but he was about 18 months then.

JJ sorry you had a bad night's sleep, hope you and girls have a nice quiet day.

heron22 · 10/04/2009 12:25

tee thanks!

Tabitha8 · 10/04/2009 12:30

I agree with your mum, Ermintrude.

heron22 · 10/04/2009 12:34

ermin i also agree with your mum. marriage is certainly not an easy ride! but when it works, it is truly wonderful!

how is the weather where you are?

it is tipping it down right now

and for the easter egg hunt tomorrow, the weather promises "heavy rain".lovely. i will have to send DS1 out in his raincoat and wellies! i will stay in with LO and watch last wed episode of the apprentice!

heron22 · 10/04/2009 12:36

what about this?

Tee2072 · 10/04/2009 12:42

I like the bumbo one better!!

OP posts:
heron22 · 10/04/2009 12:45

tee do you think the bumbo is more comfy?

mrsboogie · 10/04/2009 12:46

ermintrude D doesn't like to drink anything except milk so its not a case of weaning him off juice - more a case of trying to get him to drink anything at all...

heron seats like those are meant to be kept on the floor, the risk is that they can push down with their feet (D does this) and topple the thing over - which is bad if they are on the ground but very bad if they are on a height obviously. Having said that they are perfect for early feeding as D won't sit in a high chair and the rocker seat is backward sloping. I wish I had got one sooner.

Ladies I bring you this from today's internet travels. I love Marina Hyde.

Tee2072 · 10/04/2009 12:48

I just think the bumbo looks safer, heron. I have no opinion on comfyness because I don't have any children yet.

We've just spent almost two hours playing in the bath - oh bath toys are FAB!! And bubbles - they're heaven sent to amuse LOs

I've got a bebepod (like a bumbo) and a tray would actually have been good. Verity still likes her but some LOs HATE them. Iris loathed it - went all stiff backed and then fell out. You certainly can't put them on a high surface without watching them. TBH I always watch Verity as Iris did once push back with her feet and push the whole thing back onto a hard floor - it was awful. You can only use them when LO is almost sitting up - as they're not really high backed. I'd say trawl ebay or put a notice on freecycle - simply as lots must go unused.

DP always says that his divorce was 'worth every penny'

tee yes, hope the changes aren't too hard to handle. Oh I LOATHED the 3rd trimester - definately my worst time...sorry....but i know you're the kinda gal who'd rather hear the truth

Tee2072 · 10/04/2009 12:54

Brilliant read mrsb! JJ I gotta say, I'm certainly not loving it! Except when baby stretches all four limbs at once! That feels neat!

OP posts:
heron22 · 10/04/2009 12:57

jj hmmm, you made some very good points. esp the ones about toppling over!

going to ebay now

mrsboogie · 10/04/2009 13:46

stretches all four limbs at once? I'm not sure I ever felt that. Wish I had though.

BonzoDoodah · 10/04/2009 14:11

Gosh I'm being thick today. Just wondering why everyone hasn't posted for a day and then realised again that today is Friday and not Saturday! Durr. Must be lack of sleep. M woke up really early and has been on the go ever since. Zzzzzzzzzzz.

Oh I've spent most of the morning reading this penguin MN thread. Can't wait to see what happens ... is brilliant. P time is around now ....

FloriaTosca · 10/04/2009 14:43

MrsB I'm so sorry D has the d&v bug ... when Alex had it my gp reccommended flattened 7UP ..it has all the electrolites of dioralyte but a fraction of the cost and 100% better taste. Alex usually preferrs to sip from a doidy cup but when he was ill he actually took one of the breastlike bottles that he point blank refused at 7 weeks old! But the best thing for him was bm..even if he brought it back some still got digested. I hope you manage to get something down D soon and he recovers quickly.

ladymac · 10/04/2009 14:50

Still here and no signs of labour being imminent as yet. Got bored of curry but we're still doing well on the sex front. The midwife told me yesterday that clitoral as well as nipple stimulation was the way to go whereas I'd thought it was the prostoglandins in the sperm I needed plus a bit of nipple action. We're having fun even if it's doing nothing to bring on my labour

I got swept again yesterday, what a tidy cervix I have now! The midwife that's on call at the moment is lovely and I'm hoping I'll deliver before 4.30pm on sunday, when she goes off duty. Had another 2 hours of contractions on wednesday night which combined with some serious bowel emptying really had me thinking I was in the early stages of labour. But like Cinderella, everything disappeared at midnight. I felt seriously pissed off and went to bed in a huff. I was hoping to deliver before Easter so that DH could have an extra couple of days added to his paternity leave. Hey ho.

I've been baking this morning, making cupcakes and flapjacks. Had the radio on and couldn't resist having a serious bop to Bobby Brown's '2 Can Play That Game' and you probably would have been hard pushed to tell the difference between me and Rachel Stevens during 'Sweet Dreams my LA ex' Surely the combination of all that vigorous dancing plus this morning's shenanigans will get me started?

mrsb I hope D makes a speedy recovery. Horrible when they can't keep anything down. I would try any kind of sugary drink and hopefully he'll take a liking to something. Watered down apple juice has worked for us in the past.

jw you're looking really good, as is your beautiful daughter. Good for you with your packed lunch. I always take one on outings as I neither like nor can afford the overpriced and substandard food on offer at most zoos, museums etc.

Congrats on the safe arrival of your huuuge nephew auntie hedgepig, though I'm guessing you probably won't see this as I think you're on your hols now. My biggest baby was my first, dd1, practically a lightweight at 9lbs.

tabitha there's no way I'll be broadcasting during the birth. It wouldn't be fair on you to hear all that bad language.

ermintrude13 · 10/04/2009 16:22

Tee I've got a star-jumping LO in here too - all 4 quarters of ribs and pelvis streeeetched at once. Very odd feeling, but I spose we should be glad they're active

Heron rainy and horrid here in the midlands, and probably will stay that way for northumberland but we will have a car full of cakes and biscuits on the trip north so we won't care.

Agree with JJ and mrsb that you have to be careful with a bumbo - both my DC did the stretching backwards and falling out trick and it wasn't pretty. However, 2 of my nieces sat in it good as gold and loved it until their thighs got so chubby they were wedged in uncomfortably

ladymac, it's a saga now! So hope those contractions will get going for you in earnest, and that you'll get some rest - stop baking and start snoozing, woman, you'll need your energy any minute now.

heron22 · 10/04/2009 16:44

tee love the idea of cakes and biscuits! i could do with a nice tangy cheesecake! a cuppa tea, feet up on footstool, watching the apprentice!

but instead, i am about to make dinner for DS1 and his friend, who is over for a playdate. they are having pizza, smoothie and ice cream!

Tee2072 · 10/04/2009 17:53

Did I mention tea and biscuits? I don't think that was me!!

Lots of happy baby appearing thoughts coming your way ladym! Its got to be soon!!

I was sort of following that as well bonzo. I hope she nails the guy!
