Come join our merry (talkative) band of ladies who lunch - feel sick - are getting fatter - sleep deprived or run off their feet with babies! Some of us suffer all of the above - while trying to retain an air of calm and mystery

All we ask is you play nicely, eat cake and indulge in the occasional gossip and moan about our ills....or anything else that we can think of.

We're like grumpy old women....only not so grumpy...

MUM41plus5 · 09/02/2009 14:31

Oh dear HELLO

Neddie · 09/02/2009 14:36

Wow. I think there may be more than one 2nd family on here as well. There was a news report that the Greens were trying to encourage the government to do a Chinese style-"limit your family to one or two". There appears to be a bit of a population explosion due to second families, not only because of second marriages but also partners having big gaps and having a second set of children in later life. Also the recession and the consequent redundancies are giving some women the idea of having another child. Interesting.

Neddie · 09/02/2009 14:38

Mum41
Oh you are not on list.

MUM41plus5 · 09/02/2009 14:40

Ok, sulks off to do the school run and see REAL FRIENDS who wouldn't omit her from thier lists

Yeah, raining here too hedgepig and boys just nodded off theyr'e not going to be too happy at being disturbed to go out in this!

Neddie · 09/02/2009 14:55

I think everyone accepts everyone on this thread. We are all like fine wines and improve with age. We have learned not to judge a book by it's cover and that all that glitters is not gold. oh! and don't kiss your man if you have had a pickled onion. However from previous posts DO NOT get your apostrophes mixed up with your semi-colons as this could lead to severe rustication.

johnworf · 09/02/2009 14:57

Hahahahahah Neddie! You know us all soooooo well after such a short time

johnworf · 09/02/2009 15:03

Btw, is everyone now present and correct on the list? We can then do a final one which you may print off as a crib sheet if needed

Tee2072 · 09/02/2009 15:13

Thanks hedgepig you're a pal!

BTW, I think baby brain (which, if you watched BBC this morning, apparently doesn't exist) has been worse than I think since I was booking a diary appointment for CEO this morning and other boss yelled across room 'wait he's booked then!' and I yelled back 'no, he's not!'

And I was right. {smug smiley]

jeanjeannie · 09/02/2009 15:36

cor - I've been gone a matter of moments and the list is already complete....Yes jw if you would be so kind as to print off a list for me - in triplicate obviously!

neddie that is indeed an astute observation. BTW I'm still grappling with the vision of horses mating....can't tell Iris about that - she's NUTS about ponies!

mum41 worry not - you are well and truly a 40+ thread resident now - your permit is in the post And worry not about getting who's who correct...let's face it, i've been on this thread since day one and I still couldn't work out if you were pregnant in addition to having twins!

Wot, no baby brain tee ? Pah - I think there is. I was a high-functioning individual until the girls popped along to join me. I wonder if all the primary colours screaming at my retinas has something to do with it....

Coooeee waves to Ladymac and floria* I hope the dog walk was fun.

Righty ho - how do you stop 2 yr olds sticking things up their noses? ANd in their ears? Iris has a bodily hole obsession and it's freaking me out!

OP posts:
MUM41plus5 · 09/02/2009 15:48

That was a cold, wet school run Hedgepig do you walk the school run too, I could drive but takes me twice the time by the time I get boys into the car then out again when I get there, and I have to leave earlier to get a parking space so don't bother, besides I tell myself I can have those extra calories as I'm walking it off on the school run

neddie it's ok if they too have had a pickled onion
One of the reasons I am a sahm is because as a child and young adult all I wanted to do was work with horses, I took all my stages, which I think was 4 then and was training to take my AI when it began to be clear that I was never going to make enough money to buy a nice house etc unless I was rich enough or fortunate enough to run my own livery, stud etc so with only the basic qualifications from school I found office work and there I stayed, working my way up until now really and seeing as I don't need to work and I have the children I don't but if I had a real career I loved I certainly would!
you are another lucky lady

Tee you listened to the wrong lady, I agree with the other lady, it does exist and it hangs around for months after, twice as long with twins thats my excuse anyway!

On the subject of grammer, 9 times out of ten its a miss key rather than grammatical mistake, do forgive me

MUM41plus5 · 09/02/2009 15:53

jeannie I wish I knew the answer, then I would be really rich and then dh wouldn't have to work and we could all live in a hot country somewhere with no crime....... oh nodded of there was in a dream world oh and thanks for voting me in

ermintrude13 · 09/02/2009 16:01

JJ my dad, who was a doctor, used to tell us, very solemnly, that the only thing we were allowed to stick in our ears were our elbows. Kept us busy for hours. My DS still tries, so it's worked for at least 2 generations . My ma was also a doctor and worked in school health for a few years. She'll never forget the time she looked in the ear of a 6 yr old who was hard of hearing and found herself reading the scrunched up ball of newspaper he'd lodged there as a toddler...

Noses - can't help you there. If it's just fingers there's nothing you can do except discourage it in public!

Tabitha8 · 09/02/2009 16:53

Here I am as well. Late as usual!

duchesse · 09/02/2009 18:50

I should say mine are all the same family, even this one- it just took a very long time to get number 4.

Neddie · 09/02/2009 19:41

Mum41
Shall I tell you that I have 15 horses (and 5 in the oven ready to hatch). I have to do them all every day except for Sunday afternoons. But now I'm having to pay someone to do them for me as every time I do anything with them I have a bleed- Yes lucky in some ways- but all from hard work and not sugar daddy, sadly (well..actually a bit from my own mummy and daddy). I started the stud about 15 years ago and the year before last my homebred stallion won at National level.I'm sooo proud of him. Neither of my girls is remotely interested in horses (oh the irony)but have learned quite a lot about the birds and bees by watching mummy make baby horses. It is a wonderful job but also quite traumatic when you lose an animal or you have a huge vet bill. I will probably do another 10 years (I want to win the breeder's cup and maybe some more dressage)before I hang up my spurs so to speak.

jeanjeannie · 09/02/2009 19:50

Evening ladies. Gosh there's a lot of us now - already popped and due. I expect to see you preggie ladies hanging around the names message boards....asking what we think of monikers such as Tinkerbelle Gypsy Roselee and Pontius Wayne Cyborg

Am hacked off too hedgepig You win for having experienced the most discomfort, inconvenience and annoyance - whereas I'm just seething cos the telly won't show any channels apart from BBC ones I HATE these blinkin hills - one bit of bad weather and kaput - gone! No Corrie...Ggrrrrr. It's bad enough having to suffer the local news - which isn't local. Oh no - no London Today.....bloomin South East Today for us. I've no idea what's happening on my doorstep but I know everything that's going on in Portsmouth, Basingstoke and Ventor

An early hot choccy may be required

Neddie just seen your post. That is one heck of a cool job - bet it's a show-stopper when the...."and what do you do?" question pops up at dinner parties!

Five little foals waiting to pop - way too cute. We pass a stud farm near us quite regularly - think it's called Cliveden Stud (near the national trust house) and I just want to press my nose up against the fence and go "AWWWwwwww" at the horses. Well done you for being so darn good at it too! Wait till the twins are born - you'll have two little helpers! I can't wait for Iris to see if she likes riding - although it'll be cheaper if she doesn't

johnworf · 09/02/2009 20:01

Oh crappola. No telly JJ. Well, here's a solution for those long, tv-less nights. I've just been looking at these cloth kits and I'm thinking of buying the red 'big birdie' skirt

neddie I would have loved your life about 20 years ago. I had a pony until my first baby was born then gave it up as didn't have the time. Never gone back to riding though...although I'd say yours was a bit more serious than my interest

duchesse mine aren't all the same family. I married my DH I bought from Ebay in July 2007 and K is his
