I had a big show about an hour ago...got a few back pains too!
Expat, hope things are starting for you.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 19:58

only had show with DD1 after i was in established labour - about 4cm

never had any with DD2 at all - her waters only went as she was coming out. no show ever.

misdee · 29/10/2008 19:59

i only had a show with dd2. wke up in labour, went to loo, saw show. went downstairs, called hospital, had her under three hours later.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 20:01

well, no contractions so won't be calling anyone.

HATE the thought of having the call midwife in the middle of the night if and when they do kick off.

would probably wait.

WifeandMotherof4 · 29/10/2008 20:07

Formerly twelvelegs, I'm getting married tomorrow and having baby on Monday.....should I have champagne tomorrow?

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 21:00

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 21:28

NorthernLurker · 29/10/2008 22:23

Expat - I've had a show twice - and a baby within 12 hours of it both times so I think we could be looking at an October baby for you! Good Luck.

MamaG · 29/10/2008 22:28

ooooh expat and blackbird good luck! This could be it for you

Wishing you both a good night's sleep, waking up at 7ish in labour

Ooh Expat and Blackbird a baby race!!

I've never had a show with my first two either.

Re: engagement, neither of my first two engaged before labour either but apparently this one has been for 2 weeks. Does sometimes feel like there is an orange betwwen my legs!!

Nothing doing here either. Forgot to go out and by that Cauphyll wotsit stuff so sbviously not that desperate. Might try to intice DH for a bit of nookie tonight though as am ready now. Want to have baby before kids come back from Grannies on Saturday really. Everytime I call them dd1 says very carefully. Mummy, Have I got a new brother or sister yet?? It is very sweet.

So a few squats before bed, hot bath, sex tonight, pineapple and grapes for breakfast dodgy homeopathic stuff tomoz, curry tomorrow night. Not keen on the primrose oil up yer mufty business.....

Never had a sweep not too keen - would you... am only 40+5 tomoz but have a consultant appt so guess I could ask them to do one......

FAQ · 30/10/2008 00:27

ooo Expat - I had nothing before the show with DS3, then random pains for about 12hrs afters, less than 24hrs later I was in labour (didn't think I was though ) - TK arrived 3hrs after I arrived at the hospital (at 3cm dilated)

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 08:12

anything??????

misdee · 30/10/2008 08:39

any babies yet?

i was awake between 3-5 again. she better not misbehave for that long once she is out as i wont be a happy-mummy.

MamaG · 30/10/2008 09:36

Flum personally I would go for the sweep - I'm booked for one next Wed at 40+6

I had one with DS when I was in hospital for induction, the gel was working soooo sloooowly so MW offered me a sweep - it really got things going, i had him within 2 hours of that sweep.

Yes, it was extremely uncomfortable, but because it worked so well last time I'll have it next week.

I discussed it with my MW yesterday and she said that if the sweep does get things going, its a more natural labour as well.

HTH

misdee - poor you, I actually slept well last night for a change. MW wittered on about 10 movements a day and said I had to monitor it today but its difficult when you're running waddling around after two other children!

Hope expat and blackbird are ok

ToThrottleABlackBird · 30/10/2008 10:17

Been having a bloody show all morning. Is it just me or is there loads of the stuff? sat down earlier and felt his head engage which was weird. 7 hours to bring labour on or induction!

expatinscotland · 30/10/2008 10:40

More show.

But no contractions, either.

Think I may have lost some water, but I may also have just been sweating, it's hard to say.

Couldn't get to sleep for jack, though. I'm shattered. He just kept moving around - hopefully down!

Been doing the shiatsu thing.

It's a lovely clear day so after I get DD2 from nursery am going to get a nice walk in and then pick up a bowl of curry for lunch and feed DD2 chicken nuggets, chips and peas for lunch .

Hopefully can get a long kip once DH is home at 4, as I've already got tea in teh slow cooker and he'll just need to do a risotto and plate it up (thank heaven for all his days as a KP).

belgo · 30/10/2008 10:53

Expat - Good idea to go for a walk.

I had very similar two weeks ago - mild contractions, a show throughout the night and then nothing the next day. The midwife advised a long walk, which we did, it was lovely, we stopped at a cafe for ice cream as well. That night, just after putting the girls to bed at 8pm I went into labour. Called midwife at midwife, ds was born at 3;50am, according to the midwife on a full moon rather appropiately for his name. The girls slept through the whole thing.

MamaG · 30/10/2008 13:18

Funny things, shows. Seem to blob out (sorry) and blob out, rather than coming away in a big plug don't they? Did with me, with DD anyway.

Absolutely nothing, nada, here - am well and truly resigned to induction, but hoping sweep next Wed will kick start something, anything!

Go for a nice long walk expat if you have the energy. I'm so glad my DH can cook (was head chef for years) - if he came home when I was knackered unable to cook an egg I think I'd throttle him. Although I do cook most nights as I enjoy it

belgo - how is your lovely DS? Any chance of a nosy at a pic?!

Blackbird - hope you're not worried about induction, I wouldn't hesitate if they offered me it tomorrow
