my show took ages too - start off as clear stuff resembling a jelly fish at lunchtime on the wednesday - was still coming in dribs and drabs at about 4am the following morning, but getting gradually more pink

ToThrottleABlackBird · 30/10/2008 13:28

Im not too worried about being induced. I know someone told me it can make labour longer but surely it cant be any longer than 31 hours can it? Still having a show and had a few contractions but theyve stopped now.

belgo · 30/10/2008 14:12

MamaG- no, no chance of photos, never know who's looking sorry! He is gorgeous though, and very boyish looking.

Blackbird - yes let's hope it's faster then 31 hours for you!

LackaDAISYcal · 30/10/2008 15:55

big labour vibes for you blackbird....sounds like things are moving in the right direction. And the induction; if things are going in the right direction already, another sweep may very well set you off, or a single dose of prostin.

MamaG · 30/10/2008 17:38

FAir enough belgo, I'm a bit paranoid about things like that too

oooh no word from expat since htis morning really hope things are happening for her

Ohhh Congratulations Blackbird!

Welcome to the world Samuel.

Now the rest of you ladies are seriously slacking now get your butt's into labour puh-lease!

MamaG · 31/10/2008 09:34

oh FFS expat I really thought you were in labour! We're in for hte long haul everyone, don't watch thread too closely cos we're going to be here for a looooong time

Thje only thing I'm worried about is having a huge baby. I was scanned to check position on 20th October and according to the measurements, he was about 7.5lbs then - just how much weight do babies put on at this stage, per week?

I'm only 5'3 FGS. MW said "oh its your third you'll be fine" - think she assumes I have a big exit the cheeky mare

expatinscotland · 31/10/2008 09:37

i'm the same height, MamaG, and i'm not a large-boned 5ft., 3in, either.

i'm seriously afraid of being torn to bits the longer this carries on.

expatinscotland · 31/10/2008 09:38

having the sweep on sunday and hopefully they'll be able to do it because i've lost the plug so hopefully he's dropped somewhat. she said on tuesday that if his head hadn't moved by then she wouldn't bother sweeping, just schedule the induction.

Lomond · 31/10/2008 09:40

Good luck Expat, hope it happens soon! x

CharleeInChains · 31/10/2008 09:40

DS2 was expected to be about 10lb when he was born.
H ewas born 2 weeks early and was 7lb 7.

So in theaory in the last 2 weeks he should have put on roughly 2 1/2 lbs.

MamaG · 31/10/2008 09:44

Interestingly expat, my MW told me that if I do go in for induction, they will probably just break my waters first off, rather than pissing about with the gel which should encourage a more natural labour (as natural as any labour is, with a epidural ) - she said your cervix never properly closes after children and after 2, it should be open enough to break them, even if it hasn't started dilating as such.

I'm going to try to find out something about how much babies grwo

LilRedWGoreandguts · 31/10/2008 09:47

Don't set too much store by the sonographer saying how big the baby is. We were told that DD would be at least 8lb when delivered at 38 weeks - she was 7lb 6oz.

kayzisexpecting · 31/10/2008 09:48

I think its about a half a pound a week.

MamaG · 31/10/2008 09:52

Half a pound a week - that would put him at about 9lb at time of induction

I can do that. I don't want to do MORE than that.

CMW also thinks he will be big, judging by "feel"

Ah who knows, I just don't want to be ripped to shreds
