sounds bad expat. heartburn is horrible.

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 15:59

cookiemonster, I was told last time that they would give a half dose of prostin but that was all after one CSection. This time with 2 CSs under my belt (no pun intended) they won't induce under any circumstances, so for me it's either spontaneous labour or straight to theatre.

If you have a look at the Royal College of Obs and Gynae website and their Green top guide No 45 on VBAC it'll tell you what's what with induction and VBAC.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 16:00

it's not good.

i'm looking forward to seeing the back of that.

he's doing well, just comfortable in there.

Neeerly3 · 29/10/2008 16:01

expat - have you tried squatting? sitting down like a frog - getting your pelvis as wide as poss? my aunt swore by it....

Can I just ask, if sex is supposed to get things moving, how come more people don't go into prem labour? surely most folk have sex throughout pregnancy, but it doesn't bring labour on til 40 weeks - how does that work?

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 16:05

i can't squat. my right knee is full of metal and my left has next to no cartilage in the meniscus and tibial plateau.

i sit on the birthing ball a lot.

had plenty of sex.

can't do curry too much as have pretty painful piles.

pretty much resigned to induction.

scorpio1 · 29/10/2008 16:07

Neeerly - i htink its to do with cervix readiess etc too?

Expat - press the bit between your thumb and first finger really hard, and hold, apparently in Shiatsu its a 'down' movement for a baby...

Neeerly3 · 29/10/2008 16:13

thanks scorpio

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 16:26

yup neerly3; the prostaglandins in semen will help the cervix along, but only if it's ready for helping.

scorpio....how long to hold for?

MamaG · 29/10/2008 16:29

misdee you have my permission to give birth before me - as expat said, as long as baby is OK, I'll just wait. Until November

I did go upstairs sideways everytime today though, just in case.

Daisy I had DD at St James' and DS at LGI

its about 10 seconds, but you have to do it really hard, in the very deep V part?

MamaG · 29/10/2008 16:31

ouch

MamaG · 29/10/2008 16:31

scorpio1 · 29/10/2008 16:34

LOL MamaG, you are a very good pregnant person

The shiatsu lady did it to me whne i was trying to make Millie come out..she came out the day after - i had both shiatsu and a sweep in the same day!

Jojay · 29/10/2008 16:36

Hi all - sorry to gatecrash but I posted earlier on on this thread about being due on friday - well I was, but I had him yesterday!!

I had a show on Sunday night, started getting twinges on Mon lunchtime, proper contractions started at about 7pm in the evening, and I had DS2 at 1.50 am tues morning. 7lb 7oz, everything fine. Nice quick labour, just G&A, MUCH better than when I had DS1, and we all came home last night.

He's beautiful, lots of dark hair, kind of scrunched up and blotchy right now but perfect in every way

Good luck to everyone waiting!!!

MamaG · 29/10/2008 16:37

Congratulations Jojay! Pleased that everything went well for you

Congrats JoJay

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 16:51

which was better MamaG? I've just swapped from Jimmys to LGI as they are more proctive on things like VBAC and my doula said they are less interventionist than Jimmys.

10 seconds it is then.....is the once enough; I have some heavy duty crocodile clips that I was thinking about clipping on and just leaving there

Congratulations jojay ; sounds like it all went very smoothly for you

scorpio1 · 29/10/2008 16:55

oh no you have to do it whenever you remember

I miss my bump!

MamaG · 29/10/2008 16:55

TBH I had a good experience at both overall.

DD at Jimmys, 9 years ago () - induced, long labour, had epidural but no forceps/ventouse or anything. They did recommend episiotomy which I had. MWs on delivery suite were great. I stayed in for days as DD had jaundice and other than them giving DD a bottle of cow & gate during her first night becuase I was "so tired" everything was fine. First night she had to go in nursery as she was under a heat lamp thing and there were no side rooms available where I could be wiht her

DS at LGI 4 years ago - MWs on delivery suite again absolutely fine, induced again but no epidural this time as it was a lot quicker, no other pain relief either (owww). Staff on post natal ward were v quick to hurry me off home though - I had him at 6.30 Sunday evening and was home for 2pm next day. They just said "are you feeding ok? Latch ok? Good, off you go" basically.

If I had to choose between them, personally I'd pick Jimmys but its a close call.

LackaDAISYcal · 29/10/2008 17:01

I had DD by elCS at Jimmys and the PN staff were fab there. I had a side room and we were pretty much looked in on every couple of hours; but then again I had a care plan from the perinatal MH unit so I suppose they were keeping an eye on me. There was one PN MW, Julie who was fantastic helping me with BFing as she knew how important it was for me.

Never had a labour there though so it's all a new experience.

After two inductions I can see why you're keen for this one to get going on it's own.

fingers crossed it'll happen soon

mum2jakeyroo · 29/10/2008 18:58

MAMAG, I am thinking you live in a town where the word HEN is in, am I close? if I am we live near a place that has the same first 6 letters as your town. About 10 miles east of there. If I can't crypically make you get it then I am just gonna come right out and say it.

mum2jakeyroo · 29/10/2008 19:13

Get yourself into kendal mamag. You get regular cups of tea - it is like being on holiday. They will even look after baby in the night and bring him to you when he wants feeding.

expatinscotland · 29/10/2008 19:42

i've had a show.

never had that before.

hmm.

maybe these random contractions are getting his head down there.

mum2jakeyroo · 29/10/2008 19:44

I only had a show with ds3. 27 hours later he was born. This could be it. how exciting.

misdee · 29/10/2008 19:52

oooooooooooo, babyexpat in the next 24-48 hours hopefully!!

maybe i should race you...
